Really great place to know the history of Gouda and the nearby regions. I was specially in awe of the miniature model exhibit of the city of Gouda from 1572. Kudos to the creator of that. The art exhibition about looking at art from different perspectives was a unique experience. Nice way to spend 1.5-2 hours. The only negative is that an English version of the audio guided tour is not available.

Most of the (Catholic) convents were abolished, and many of the religious altarpiece were destroyed during the iconoclasm. Luckily for us, this museum still houses some of these artefacts as they have been preserved as one of the few in the Netherlands. What better place to view these than the medieval ancient hospice of Saint Catherine. The ancient pharmacy and the dungeons can be visited. Some paintings from the 19th century Hague school and the Gouda pottery known as Gouds plateel.

Beautiful museum, friendly staff that likes telling you about the context of some of the paintings in the museum. The exhibitions are beautiful and informative. The model of Gouda of the 16th century is amazing and the stories of people during that time are also worth listening too. Recommend!

I was really keen to see the inside of this beautiful old building but wish I hadn't have bothered. 11 euros pp is a rip off, most of the artwork dull and uninspiring more of a bad art gallery than a town's museum. The old apothecary, scale model of the town from 1562 ans a piece of pottery from Arie Bouter were the only thing that had any appeal for us. The worst place we have paid to enter in the Netherlands. Outside the museum is information about Erasmus who lived in Gouda most of his life, shame the museum didn't feel the need to offer information about this incredible man.

Museum Gouda was founded in 1874 and is housed in the former hospital in the Catharina Gasthuis. You can see, among other things, a complete pharmacy interior on the original site of the Gouda city pharmacy, 16th-century altarpieces, 19th-century paintings and a collection of Gouda pottery. The entrance is through the Lazarus gate.

Ceramics are really good and a very 'different' collection. Fab old building, well worth the trip. The coffee shop is good as well, nice Apple pie (well it is Holland what else would you eat with coffee?)

One of the loveliest places. The garden restaurant is super nice in the summer.

A warm and cute museum that tells stories of cheese and the town. I liked the clear but not boring explanation provided by audio guide. Also there was some interesting videos give you more information. The staff I met was very friendly to me. He explained the details not included in guides and recommended me some nice and special cheese. I tried it later in the store, and it was actually really great, the black Gouda cheese. Doesn't accept museum card though, it's a pity.

Small but contains great historical objects and heritages. Especially the oldest city seal deserves to visit.

Really nice collection of potteries and an interesting overview of the history of Gouda along with a beautiful art work collection. However the collection is rather very small and the museum is only takes 45 mins maybe an 1 amd half while listening the audio guide isn't worth the amount they charge. If it was half the price it would be worth it. I recommend visiting if you have a museum card, but if you don't think twice before spending 13 euros on a small exhibition.

Collection of paintings by Dutch artists highlighting varied perspectives of the influence of the sea on history. There are also paintings and other interesting subjects from Gouda's history. The pottery section with a collection of pieces from once flourishing local potteries is an attraction. A audio tour guide (also English) is available. Worth visiting the museum and spending a few hours.

Within 1.5 hours you can see the whole place. It goes through the history of the city and has lots of art exhibitions as well.
