Big thanks to all people who work for this project! Very friendly and helpful stuff. I only expected that it will be just a train ride.. But it was a whole entertainment! All those.. actors dressed in retro clothes and uniform, old Citroën from 1953, nicely decorated station in Twisk and not to forget beautiful farms and landscapes, great weather - that was all details which made our trip sooo wonderful and unforgettable! Everything is so good organized: we bought an option with train ride from Hoorn to Medemblik, then we had an hour in the last station (to discover beautiful old center and yacht harbor) Then boat trip from Medemblik to Zuiderzeemuseum and we spent the rest of the day there. It’s all convenient with times, place of departure and arrival. There is map with tour details and places to see, you can order lunch or just drinks (while the stop pause in Twisk in the train, or on a boat, or then in museum) First we had purchased tickets for certain day in August but due to train failure from Amsterdam to Hoorn for few hours we were not able to come.. Big thanks to all employees who helped us with rescheduling our trip and finding possibility to have sits on other suitable day. Great people!

What a wonderful adventure! Feels like you’ve travelled through time. There is a little cafe and museum at the station. The train has a stop at another station on the way to Medemblick, where you can explore how it looked in the past. The road is especially beautiful when the tulip fields are blooming!

It was such a wonderful day trip with stoomtrum under the blue sky. You’ll see the colorful tulip gardens from the SL. Kids must love to watch the view. Small snacks help your trip even more attractive.

Perfect! Enjoy the steam train ride from Hoorn to Medemblik, then the boat trip around the coastline. Wonderful experience and all easily accessible via the NS stations.

Beautiful to see all of these steam trains in working condition. The ride with Bello was amazing. The staff was super friendly and inviting. They're happy to show you every bit of their steam engines. 5 out of 5 stars without a doubt!

Wirklich empfehlenswert

Historic railways of the Netherlands. Only one train runs each day at 10.40 (and we missed it 😢) but we enjoyed the workshop, signal box and museum and the staff were very informative

I would highly recommend visiting this beautiful museum. The steam engine train ride is definitely worth every penny and I’m sure it is worth a visit especially for children, who can have fun by learning about the history of train.Another reason why I recommend going to the museum is because they have very friendly and informative tour guides.

The steam tram commences from this point. Make sure you get your tickets in advance for easy boarding. Though they sell tickets on the location as wel. Here u find their museum shop a small museum and a cafe you can get a quick bite. Parking is in the weekend for free but check as in NL that may change.

This train only departs 4 times a year and only in April. Which make the experience authentic. If you are lucky with the weather this is an absolute blast. Super friendly staff who are mostly retired employees. The train itself is really clean and the scenery is amazing. Although, if there were more tulip fields you would have been happier but in general really interesting experience. Don’t forget to bring some snack or even buy the lunch that the train offers, just remember you have to pick up the lunch before getting on the train.

Nice museum about the old steam-trams. While I liked the ride in the old tram and the part of the museum with the timeline through the years, I didn't like the website and incorrect opening hours. I found the website where I could buy tickets to be very confusing, I think it would've been clearer with a map of some kind next to each different ticket option. Because we had to wait a bit before entering, we didn't have enough time to also visit the workshop (where more old trams are kept) before the tram-ride. I thought this would be okay, since the openings hours on Google Maps indicated the museum is open until 17h and we would be back just after 16h. When we came back at about 16.30h however, the museum was closed. Seeing as this was a vacation and I'm not paying the full (tram-ride) price for just the workshop, it seems I missed out on all the old trams and cool info in the workshop. On the upside, the tram-ride through the different villages, including a stop at a rebuilt 1800-ish (?) station and a highway crossing (snelweg en provinciale weg) were very nice to experience, as well as the boat-trip over the IJsselmeer. Even the NS-train back to where we started got us some new experiences, seeing as my dad hadn't ridden a train in a bit and was very surprised at how silent these are nowadays.

Good day out for kids (family) who loves trains. The train and boat ride was great. The route followed by train was pleasant. Museum staffs were friendly.

Amazing ride on a Christmas steam train. Great experience for kids to travel on a real steam train and also meet Santa and get a little present. And the tour of the museum on the way back, that was also very interesting and fun. Totally recommend for the families with kids, or even babies.

If you're interested in trains, trams, or history in general, then this place is a must-visit. The staff members are incredibly knowledgeable and enthusiastic about trains, which adds to the engaging and educational experience. The exhibits offer a chance to view remarkable trains and trams up close, while also providing insights into their design and technology. It's fascinating to witness the evolution of transportation, and the museum does an excellent job of showcasing this evolution. In addition, visitors have the opportunity to take a ride on a historical train between cities. The train departs from Hoorn at 10:40 am daily, and on some days, there are two trains scheduled. It's advisable to check their website and book in advance since tickets tend to sell out quickly. While entrance to the museum is included in the Museum Card, the train ride costs approximately 26EUR.

The playground (with litten trains) and the guides were the best. My kids say thanks for the interesting and nice day. If you want you can ride a train

The most unique museum experience. It's not just boring museum expo, it's real steam train and ship which you can experience in real like hundred years ago.

Very nice museum and nice things to see if you're interested in trains and travelling in former times. At the station in Hoorn there's a small museum from which you can obtain some information regarding this service and such means of transport in general. I visited it on the special "Sinterklaas" days and especially on this day there were a lot of children around and the staff treated all the visitors very well and of course they were so friendly towards the children. The boat trip was also very good and extended the trip in a good and fresh way. I recommend it (not only) for family trips!

O.a. 261 mensen die in 1...
