Decent little park that is next to a busy crossing. The locals use it for their fitness route and dog owners are there frequently. If you go over the Utrechtse brige that is right next to it, you have a lovely view of the Amstel river, the houseboats and the city.

Nice place to have a walk. I also enjoyed the "Parade" festival they make every year

It's okay, once a year the Parade comes here. Which consists of theatres and other curiosities. The main crowd is the well paid white Amsterdammer or expat.

Little quiet green oasis at the Amstel river. But when it is Parade Festival in August, the oasis becomes a melting pot of performance art, food trucks and people. You should go there!

The park is good but nothing great about it. It's dog friendly, and people can work out or have a picnic. Most times, there are events happening in the park, and it's a good location for the events. Otherwise nothing special. Just a green space.

This park is great for large crowd events. Without all those people and activities it seems very empty to me. Probably great for picknics.

Nice park right across the street from Amstel river (though the park itself has no lake or water) and never too crowded

Real city park, not very big, mostly grass and in located between the Amstel river and a busy road. That being said, it is very well kept and fun mostly for dogs and kids (with a few playgrounds). In summer its used for barbecuing and theater festival "De Parade". I like cycling or running here with my dog!

Honestly, this is my absolute most favorite park in Amsterdam. The bit next to Amstel Boathouse is my favourite summer destination. Neat, peaceful and not too crowded most of the time, MLK is truly my most cherished destination. The Gemeente looks after it and plants flowers each year, while trees are looked after and tended to as needed.

If there's anything Amsterdam does well it's parks. Big, well-kept parks with areas for kids, for dogs, for fitness freaks, for people who've had a little too much to smoke...you name it. Now, I'm willing to admit that I've only seen Martin Luther Kingpark in winter - the worst of all the 4 seasons. No park looks their best at this time of year. I appreciate that. But also, I've been in enough parks in my time to know the limits of one's potential. Unlike an ugly baby that may have a glow up later in life, MLK park ain't gonna get better. It's open, a bit empty, no water features, and a little too close to busy roads. Sure, it's good for dogs, and there's a fitness area under the overpass. But it's just a bit underwhelming compared to the other titans of the outdoors that Amsterdam has to offer.

This review is more for the traveling parade than for the park itself. The parade is the best cultural festival in the Netherlands. Art, music, and theater are made widely available for a low price, with short performances in a beautiful atmosphere. In between performances, go to the juice bar for a can of sangria, Zijpe Stijl for good fish dishes, the ‘zweefmolen’ after 22:00 for a fun and wild ride, and any other place for an excellent atmosphere.

The statue of dr. King is much like the park, small, but pretty. You can see the whole park from pretty much anywhere in the park. My 3 year old loves the pirate ship playground in the park for some reason. The park has 3 big playing spaces and object for kids. So it is worth the walk for me.
