One of the interesting things to see at the Rijksmuseum is a gated garden area (free admission), located in the front of the museum, just to the right of the Iamsterdam Letters. The garden is open daily from 9am to 6pm. This is a nice outdoor area and a good place to grab a seat and rest your feet after beating the floors of the Rijksmuseum. During my recent mid-October visit, I found the beds to have plenty of attractive plants and flowers to see. There are sculptures and busts embedded into a row of hedges, a small artificial pond and small greenhouse that you can peer into. There is a playful fountain called 'Hide and Seek' with centre standing room encompassed by water spouts which form a circular fountain. It was enjoyable watching children enter the circle, awaiting the water bursts to begin, forming a temporary wall of water around them. This is a fun activity for children and something enjoyable to see as a curious bystander. The Rijksmuseum Garden is a surprisingly tranquil place in the bustling museum square. There is no cost to enter so you can enjoy even if you don't intend to spend time inside the main museum building viewing the artworks.

Beautiful garden, almost as good as the art in the museum. Wonderful little fountain feature. The surrounding scenery is a must see.

The museum garden is freely accessible. It is very well maintained with many sculptures. When the weather is nice it is also relatively full.

A beautiful place to relax and people watch. Free entry, a ticket to the museum is not needed to enjoy this space. Nice chairs similar to what one might find in Paris. Fun to sit and see how many people get wet from the fountain ⛲️ or chill with a drink from the cafe. Drawing, reading 📖 photographing, snacking, texting, chatting are all good activities for this public garden. Enjoy

Beautiful park around the stunning rijkmuseum building. Cosy hangout between two museum visits. The water makes it ideal for a stroll in a warm summer day. Go around the park to enjoy some shaded area and some art pieces scattered around the building.

No words can describe the quality and the experience. One of the top museums in the world. One could argue in the rank of the British museum

If you use a side entrance you are able to enjoy the gardens on both sides of the museum. There are no accessibility signs, you have to ask directions. Beautiful art, and romantic corridors to enjoy. The game of chess is not accessible.

The Rijksmuseum Gardens, a 'green outdoor space' of over 14,500 m², is an oasis of peace and beauty. These beautiful gardens surrounding the famous Rijksmuseum offer a peaceful escape from the hustle and bustle of the city. Whether for a picnic, sightseeing or some peace and quiet, these gardens are the perfect destination. Furthermore, Rijksmuseum Gardens is close to the following attractions: Rijksmuseum (±100 m), Diamond Museum (±250 m), Moco Museum (±250 m), House of Bols: Cocktail & Genever Experience (±300 m) & Stedelijk Museum (±300m).

Clean, beautifully planted, free. Very crowded when the weather is good. You can get creative yourself on small boards (especially the children).

Absolutely beautiful exterior and interior. Save at least a few hours if you want to see everything since it's a huge museum. We didn't get the audio tour but the info cards placed near the paintings were quite sufficient.

Spectacular tour of art. But it takes more than a day to explore it.

Beatiful, nice place for relaxing weekend walk. There are chairs to take a sit in the shade during hot summer days, a place to purchase drinks and light snack and small playground for kids

Beautiful. Got a bit lost when trying to move from the east wing to the right wing. Maybe they could give better directions inside.

What an astonishing collection of artworks and old stuff. Make sure you have enough time before the museum closes. You need at least 3-4 hours to go all around it.

Amazing outdoor garden. Different varieties of Tulips are on display on their tulips pond

Dutch art collection is amazing and very much worth seeing. However, the audio tour is not user friendly and we found a couple of paintings did not match the assigned numbers which was confusing. When we asked for assistance at least three staff/guards could not explain the discrepancy. At the cafe, while the staff was polite, they were not knowledgeable about the dishes (menu has limited selection) which we ordered. In all seeing the collection was a treat.

Lovely garden. I recommend to walk around before or after you visit the Rijksmuseum. You can enjoy nature and drink a cup of coffee.

The Rijks garden is the most wonderful and still rather peaceful place to enjoy the sculptures, having a stroll, a good read, to draw, to have a conversation or just to sit and enjoy watching people pass by.

Just beautiful, sat with my love and a bottle of wine. We had a great time looking at all of the sculptures and fountains.

Three hours is not enough to enjoy the museum. Enjoyed the Special Exhibitions and 2nd floor with 1600's to 1700's - including Rembrant's Night Watch - which was having yet another cleaning.

Hard to describe the beauty and majesty of this museum. If I lived here, I'd visit every week

Amazing and beautiful garden where artists create beautiful works of art. Come here before your visit to the Rijksmuseum. I will be uploading a video on YouTube about my experience.

Super nice Garden of Rijksmuseum. Free entrance. Children van play in the Fountain of the weather allows. Great to relax, chairs al around.

Didn't spend much time here: it was filled with tourists taking selfies in the fountain and all over the place. Only came to see one piece of art: the spider by Louise Bourgeois. It was a little underwhelming because I had expected its size to be huge, and the distracting crowd. It was impossible to find a good position to take a photo.
