A 5-star review purely for the magnificence of this historic building (was the central post office for Amsterdam) and its interior, all very well maintained inside and out. This shopping centre has seen better days and hopefully post-pandemic more shops will return and the food court on the top level will reopen. Fingers crossed. For now it's worth a visit even just to marvel at the architecture. Magnificent!

Haven't been here in some years, but visited it last week while I was in Amsterdam. It used to be a gorgeous shopping gallery in 4 floors. Now it's abandoned apart from 3-4 shops remaining, framed by empty stores. Looks sad and desolated. Such a shame on a stunning neo-goth landmark building in the middle of Amsterdam.

So pretty,so empty. Well, yes, the gothic architecture could leave you breathless. The building itself is magnificent, but there are around 4 open and actively working stores in the entire center! As dramatic as it sounds - it’s completely empty. The spaces and lots that once used to be shops are abandoned. I recommend admiring it from the outside :) Visited on 01 August 2023

Beautiful building from the outside and inside! For shopping purposes I would definitely not go there due to it being a dead mall. Only stores under construction or empty spaces.

Magna Plaza is a remarkable building, both inside and outside. Formerly a post office it's now a mall. Not all floors have shops though, due to apparent renovation work. Yet worth a visit. Please like this review if found useful. Thank you.

A really nice shopping centre with a beautiful architecture on the outside. One of the floors is currently under maintenance but the other ones have stores you can go in and there is even one of them that sells souvenirs for tourist. The interior design is really beautiful, specially the arch pattern and the glass vault.

Beautiful architecture, but the mall it has become to house leaves much to be desired. Mostly to be found inside are expensive brand stores for those looking to spend money on big brand names , and not much else. There are better places to shop in Amsterdam by far.

The exterior of this shopping mall is magnificent, however, the interior is a bit disappointing. They were quite a bit of renovation, and many shops were closed, as of November 2023. I hope that once they completed the renovation, the interior will be as magnificent as the exterior.

The mall is located right beside the palace so we decided to have a look. From the outside, it looks really grand with the Gothic architecture but there’s nothing much inside the mall. There were less than five stores that were active when we visited. The rest were just empty shop spaces. There’s nothing much to do here, but we did visit the shop “Cheese & More”, definitely worth a visit as you can try the different cheese on offer.

Very short walk from the central train station would definitely recommend to visit when in Amsterdam. The architecture can be admired by all on the outside, and inside you can visit different stores.

Only the ground floor was open and with stores filled. Guess due too covid 😷 many stores went out of business. Only the base level was with stores and the 1st and 2nd level totally empty or closed. Food court was closed. The toilets 🚽 on the 2nd level where working at least.

There aren't many stores in this commercial center. During my visit, the food department was unfortunately closed. However, the architecture of the building and the inside are really beautiful. Toilets are still open.

Amazing new food market, great selection of small restaurants with influences from all over the world. Really liked the design of the bar and especially the views of the surrounding street and the royal palace.

It could have more options for shopping but the building itself is a work of art and it’s worth a visit simply to appreciate the architecture.

It's a beautiful building but it's practically empty with the exception of a cheese shop and a boutique on the ground floor. On the the last floor there "public" toilets where you need to pay one euro to the grumpy young man to let you in, even to the women's toilets because it seems they cannot be bothered to pay a female attendant. Unfortunately this seems to be the rule both in the Netherlands and in Belgium.

Magna Plaza is an indoor shopping centre located in the former Amsterdam Main Post Office and a historical building just behind the Royal Palace. The the building itself is an attraction, being a building listed in Top 100 Dutch heritage sites. Built in a beautiful mix of Neo-Gothic, Renaissance and Dutch Colonial Revival styles. The exterior is demonstrates the use of Neo-Gothic and Dutch Colonial exterior, with it's log souring lines and gambrel roof, beautifully complemented with an eye-catching stone decoration of polychromatic bricks and detailed in dressed stone, The Magna Plaza is a lovely place to shop and as you can imagine from it's location, also an upper end shopping destination. The interiors are just as beautiful as the exterior, with a central hall with galleries on each floor surrounded by Renaissance style arcades of polychromic curved arches. The central atrium is crowned by a sunroof that gives the who interior a nice warm orange glow. As for the shopping, can't go wrong visiting the Magna Plaza. I came here to buy some gifts to take back home and I highly recommend Cheese & More by Henri Willig.

This large shopping mall has a lot to offer and is located eight in the center of Amsterdam where the palace and largest buildings are. The whole third floor is a food court. The bathroom was €1 for use, which is a little much.

(Translated by Google) The architecture, both inside and out, is splendid and worth a look during your walk in AMSTERDAM. However, I was disappointed with the shops which were not my favorite this time around. However, the places are still worth a visit, especially during Christmas time when the central patio is decorated with a huge Christmas tree 😍 (Original) L’architecture tant intérieure qu’extérieure est splendide et mérite le détour lors de votre promenade à AMSTERDAM. J’ai été cependant déçu par les boutiques qui n’emportent pas mon coup de cœur pour cette fois. So much was closed off when I went here, which meant I couldn't really experience the full place and get a good feeling for what it is like in all actuality. Realistically though, my rating wouldn't have changed much as from what I was able to see the selection of products was relatively wide and they also were decent quality. Would recommend.

Just a shopping center. Is beautiful inside and there are a few shops. It is a bit empty but I think it is because of the repairments on the street right in the front of this place.

Magna Plaza is located right behind the Palace, and it seems amazing from the outside. Interior Roman style design is great too. There are a few shops left inside therefore one cannot spend some time inside. There’s a WC available on 3rd or 4th floor.

A magnificent building in the center of the city. The facade is so iconic to looks like a palace. Is a large shopping mall, which several floors and brands. It isn't that busy when compared to the Shopping mall next to it (Bijenkorf) and somehow it misses a bit of the "spark" of it. All the big luxury brands aren't here, but is a more quiet and calm place to shop in the center.

The style of this building is 2hat drew us in. We were staying in a hotel around the corner and looking for gifts. The inside is just as beautiful as the outside and lined with stores and places to grab something to eat from. We spent some time in the Swarovski shop and had them ship some items back home for us. We will be visiting again when next in town.

Well its more like a Mall, just that its called a "Plaza". The outside is itself a spectacle when the front dazzles with lights in the night. Inside are, various shops ranging from artisan cheese, fashion clothing , to souvenir shops. The food court on top floor offers various options and some do focus on Netherlands cuisine as well. The toilet is quite fancy and charges a Euro, (which is weird), but the coupon is redeemable on the store purchases.

Nice shopping centre, good choice of brands and very cool food court concept: seat anywhere, a remote ringer will tell you when you can pick up your food. So if you’re 2 people or a group you don‘t have to all order from the same booth to sit there together. Drinks come from 2 central bars as well.

I'm from India so when I think of mall, I think something huge. This wasn't. However, it's magnificent in its own way. Set in century old library, you get the feeling of walking in the era when you stroll through the isle. If you're looking to buy some stuff, you'd already be welcomed by sweet spoken sales persons of the shops. They all have variety with equally exciting prices. And if you're here on an occasion like the Christmas season, you'd love to take some pictures too.

Fantastic selection of food from all 4 corners of the world. Make a selection then sit anywhere you choose! The chip's were the tastiest I have ever eaten as they were the first ones that I have eaten that still had the skin on after cooking. The profiterole were freshly cooked with melted butter and hot cherries and ice cream. We shared our selection and REALLY enjoyed them.

Beautiful building, but wouldn't call it a shopping center. Only a handful of shops and a lot of empty real estate. The interior is very dark and unwelcoming.

Nice old building, quite a bit of empty retail space inside. Has got a clothes store cheese shop and a gift shop on the 1st floor, toilets on the second, didn't see much else. Art Deco flooring and columns are nice to look at.

For shopping, not so much but it was so cool that it was original Amsterdam post office and the architecture was incredible.

While the building is very beautiful it is not really worth a visit. There are a few shops on the ground floor and it seemed most people came to used the bathroom on the top floor.

A beautiful old building. Worth the visit just to see it. There are some nice shops but quite a few empty units.

    Beutiful building, but nothing inside!

Beautiful building, but completely dead shopping centre on the inside. The toilets on the 2nd floor are probably its biggest attraction.

Only 6 shops in the building our open the rest are all empty don’t waste your time. Although the exterior and inner structure are lovely architecture not worth it if your wanting to hit the shops

This place is very stunning, That architecture design makes it so different and unique from other Malls!

I think it was good shopping centre but suffered after COVID. There is only Mango on the first floor and two other shops in it. The rest is closed and gives very sad impression. If you are looking for big Mango shop you can go. If you are expecting a lot of shops open then forget about this place.

Luxury shopping mall. It is designed and built in a nice and historical way. Located in a the heart of Amsterdam.

Absolutely beautiful architecture. It will be amazing as more shops open.

Royal Shopping 🤦 This Shopping Mall is a disappointment despite its impressive exterior. With high hopes of finding numerous stores and being fully equipped for the season, one is taken aback by the fact that there are only five stores in total. It's truly disheartening.

TBH it has only 3-4 businesses currently working in addition to restrooms. Apparently it used to be something big in past but today it’s abandoned waiting for a revamp.

Super shopping centre which despite its super location, excellent architecture and size is mainly empty. This massively limits the footfall. Now there are about 4 stores open and it doesn't feel worth the visit.

Place looks formidable (former main post office, art deco style) but (due to Covid-19?) except for 4 shops everything is closed and empty, the 2nd floor closed completely. No place to go, absolute disappointment. Please, merchants, fill that place again!

The ground floor has one shop on it, the other two floors have maybe three? Most of these are also located elsewhere in the city. We took maybe 5 minutes to look around before we knew there was nothing here to keep us. A shame for such a nice building to just be left like this.

On their website they tell you that all stores are open. However, there are maybe three of them. Most floor space is empty and the 2nd floor is completely closed. No restaurants here, even if they advertise so with big letters outside of the building.

Very disappointing. The entire 3/4 floors consist of about 5 stores. Most of the spaces are empty. The 2023 travel guides should have been updated to this fact. Gets 1 star for the uniqueness and history of the building but if you want shopping, it's very disappointing.

Go in if you’re around anyway and take a picture of the beautiful architecture, but do not travel here for the mall. Like others said: Just around 5 stores are open in the whole mall. All others are under construction/empty. Nothing to eat or drink. Toilets are open, but you have to pay a 1€-fee.

Everyone had the same idea of getting warm in the cold Amsterdam. The outside looked promising. However, upon entering the shopping mall there were a grand total of three shops open with the rest closed down or boarded up.

At the moment just a nice building with nothing but a couple of stores, construction, and sewage smell in it. There was signage for bathrooms but I haven't seen them. Avoid now. Maybe it's good if it's raining and you need a shelter.

As many reviews have commented it’s a beautiful building inside and out. On speaking to the lady in the cheese shop when COVID came it caused almost everyone to pack up and leave. Hopefully before long businesses will return again
