It's not your usual tourist spot, and yet I came as one. It's the original house of Yitzhak de Pinto, a Dutch Jew of Portuguese origin, a philosopher, researcher, economist, politician and businessman. He was one of the investors of the Dutch East India Company. The house was built in 1605, and today acts as community center with offices and a library. It's free to enter, and I recommended going in and see the house and the unique ceilings. It's a very local place of course, and when we visited we had a wonderful talk about Israel and Judaism in Amsterdam with one of the locals

(Translated by Google) The De Pinto house is currently a library-cultural center. The decorated ceilings are worth a visit, perhaps to combine with the Rembrandt house museum, very close by. Located in the Jewish quarter, you enter with an offer of your choice (Original) La casa De Pinto attualmente è una biblioteca-centro culturale. I soffitti decorati meritano una visita, magari da abbinare alla casa museo di Rembrandt, molto vicina. Situata nel quartiere ebraico , si entra con un'offerta a piacere

I am utterly amazed by the staff here. The friendliest people in all of Amsterdam. It’s essentially a local library with a painted ceiling that dates back to the 1700s. The volunteer staff here was more than helpful to explain everything. Great, great spot to take a small break when wandering the city.

Worth seeing the ceilings but you are only allowed on first floor (2 rooms). You can order tea or coffee. There are info cards in several language right next to door to Quiet Room.

Beautiful small Jewish library. Was once a house of a wealthy Jewish man. Amazing decoration and architecture.

Discovered by chance and on Sunday a jazz group plays there for €5 entry, lots of books to read and at the back there is a quiet little courtyard where you can drink a coffee for €1

SO pretty, too bad I couldn't use the bathroom indoors and it's tough to study when everyone's talking in the adjacent room...
