What can only be described as almost a psychedelic experience, this museum will leave you with your brain buzzing with lights and sounds. A great indoor experience and a must go destination to take kids to learn about all sort of media, from radio, to television to broadcasting and of course the internet and social media. The restaurant is also very decent with both healthy and hearty snacks, cakes and coffee ( with great view to the pond next to the building).

It’s redecorated since 2-3 years ago, the themes are totally changed. Nice changes for the young people, but less for small kids. It’s recommended for kids above 8, and I think it’s reasonable. Elder kids, youths and adults will love here. A lot of programs about how to be an influencer, producer, director and so on.

Excellent architecture, indoors and outside. Very nice museum, especially for kids. Recently renovated. With the National Museum Pass, entry is free. Easy to reach by train.

Highly interactive media museum. A lot of little games and tests you can do. Also on the 6th floor some fun games for kids.

Museum visit on 2nd day of opening, with a 7 and 49 year old. Signposting throughout the museum is not set up well. The whole system with tuning in with a phone was to lengthy and complex. For kids who dont have their own phone (majority under 10) this is frustrating (in the past they had ring which was much better). Its very digital, gaming, social media and screens only, I enjoyed the previous museum more.

The building is pretty, but the museum isn't spectacular. Also, it is fully in Dutch. This might not be handy if you bring guests from abroad.

Really fun and interactive museum. Really nice to see the history of television and radio, but also having the opportunity to participate and explore things yourself. Great place to go with kids as well. Nice future that you can get your videos and recordings sent to you by email after you've visited.

This is a very nice museum, probably the most interactive one I've ever seen. There is a lot to see and do, we didn't even have time to do everything during our visit. Understanding Dutch is severely recommended, as I don't think any of the media clips are available in English. Bring the kids!

100% in Dutch only, from the instructions of the lockers to almost all the exhibitions. If you are not advanced in Dutch language, please do not go there. Among >100 museum I visited in the Netherlands, this one is the worst in bilingual or multilingual.

Great museum where the Dutch Game Awards were held this year. The museum is adding gaming to their museum and is currently working on new installations. Will be good to check out when they have finished!

It's a very modern museum, gives you super new experiences that you can't get from others.

Museum has a building with spectacular architecture. Very specious. It’s cafeteria is also nice with reasonable prices. Museum content is a bit mix of everything. That’s understandable as it is about radio, tv, gaming and internet at the same time. The interaction with material in museum by phones are interesting for kids and youngsters. However a little overwhelming for kids with too much screens and lights. They get exhausted at the end. For grown ups the content is less interesting. Overall good for a day activity with family. Also all the people working there were very friendly.

Interesting museum (for a Dutch speaking audience) that does a great job explaining media for young and old. A great self-catering restaurant with friendly staff that went out of their way to prepare a freshly made gluten free sandwiche.

Incredible architectural building housing the museum of Images and Sound about the founding and developments of Dutch Television and Radio . Must see!

Should be more international, with English subtitles or translation

The museum is mainly targeted towards Dutch speakers, but I visited it when an anniversary related to a videogame magazine was happening. I got to see lots of retro consoles and games and also experience the latest in AI in the context of media such as Deepfakes or AR. I recommend visiting if you want to learn about technology and history in the context of Dutch media

Great building! We were there in the weekend so only the museum part was opened. Nice to go with children as it's more focused on them. Very interactive exhibitions though!

Nice museum with many experiences of different media, filming, gaming. However the app approach is tedious and the museum is quite chaotic in its organization

Too much of the same for me, everything with smart phone and quite repetitive. Expensive for the price, especially compared to other museums.

very interesting, interactive place with an unforgettable atmosphere, guarantees complete immersion in the world of media technologies, of course, fun with children if they are 8+)))

Waste of time and money if you do not want to download an app or use one of their devices to visit 90% of the museum. The vaste majority of this museum to you need to scan a QR code. If you do not do this then you will not have much to do. There is almost nothing for the under 10 crowd. Yes, you can build your own game level but for most young children this is very difficult to do and there are long lines. In the past there was a nice balance in interactive media and classical museum exhibits. This is no longer there. What a pity, thank goodness I used a free pass to enter.

Very nice Museum. Looks pretty dope!

  • 5/5 Paul L. 5 years ago on Google
Extremely interactive museum fun for all ages! It is, however, very specific to Dutch interests and there is no information in English. I had lots of fun, but it may not be ideal for foreigners.

Don’t go there if you think they have any sound and vision art installations!!!! It is really a place for children to have fun and Learn some knowledge.

Went there for a work event. Very enthousiastic and energetic staff, fully involved on all the activities we had that day together with them. Always going the extra mile to make the experience unique. We also visited the museum, which seems nice, but most likely interesting for Dutch than for foreigners, as it is mainly focused on Dutch TV events and personalities. They have however a very interesting collection of audio/video devices from all periods worth checking.

Excellent by NPO / 2 Doc organized special viewing of the award winning docu movie Shadow Games in the Institute for Sound and Vision. Including an introduction by 2 Doc curator Helmut Boeijen and closing discussion with Helmut and director Els van Driel and the audience. Thank you NPO.
