It’s no exaggeration to say this is the best apple pie in Amsterdam (if not, the world!). The centre is warm, oozing with apple and cinnamon flavors while the crust is crumbly, addictive, flavorful. A dollop of cream on top brings a touch of lightness and sweetness to the overall dessert. One is simply not enough. Complement it with either a beer on tap or coffee - perfect combination.

The best Apple pie ever! It was good in 2017, and tastes even better in 2022! The service is great, people can easily support you in English. The menu is short and simple, bar style, but none in English (Google translator app helps a lot with the camera features). I had great nachos with G&T followed by the apple pie with flat coffee. There are tables both inside and outside.

Its a good apple pie, but the expectations are set so high; its not THAT good. Pies were not even warm. Overall a standard apple pie, good portions and price though. Pies should be kept heated and also covered. They just leave them waiting on an open table, some had flies on them...

This place was great! We split a club sandwich and a piece of apple pie. The club sandwich was perfect, tasted exactly as I would make it at home. The apple pie was very good as well. Not too sweet, but still had great flavor. The prices are good and the service is quick. There aren't a ton of seats and the place is pretty popular, so there might be a bit of a wait.

We came to try out the famous apple pie and discovered a great place for a small bite. The Apple Pie did not disappoint; it tasted fresh, well spiced and not too sweet. We also got the Crispy Salmon Sandwich which was equally as tasty! The restaurant was quite full when we got there so we had to find a place outside which ended up being a great choice! The staff were very friendly and despite being full, the service was fast enough. A wonderful stop to add onto your list of places to eat at in Amsterdam.

I had to visit this location to try their infamous Dutch apple pie. The wait was VERY long, but that's to be expected. I really enjoyed the breakfast sandwich. The pie was great. It was nothing spectacular, but I am thinking that this might just be my palate expecting high fructose corn syrup soaked apples.

Visited in April 2023. Couldn’t be happier to be back at Winkel 43! I first visited in 2019 and have been in love with their apple pies ever since. This deep-dish pie doesn’t have your typical pastry pie crust. It’s more of a sablé-like texture. It’s sweet and crumbly. The filling consists of a mixture of apples, cinnamon and raisins. It’s juicy and not overly sweet which is just how I like it! Also, the whipped cream is the perfect accompaniment for this wonderful treat. The staff are also super friendly and welcoming! Oh what I'd give to go back in a heartbeat! Definitely a must-visit when in Amsterdam.

This is probably one of the best apple pies I’ve had. The filling is well flavoured with cinnamon and the crust is perfect. It’s crisp exterior encases the tender filling with the slices of apples and has a great taste even on its own with its added spices.

Long but fast moving line Friendly staff 😉 nice and cozy atmosphere The apple pie was good, crunchy on the outside and soft on the inside… but it would have been better if it had no raisins in it. I hate raisins. I also got green tea 🍵 in a failed attempt to digest all them calories 🤤

There are no words to describe this place. I could easily rank it on the top of the list of the most go cafés! It is famous for its Apple pie which is to die for, exceptional taste with amazing texture. Make a favour to yourself and pay a visit to this place. You will go again I can guarantee you that

I would have given them an extra star in the apple Cake would have been served warm. But whether, it was delicious - not too sweet and not dry and the cream made it a delightful experience. The serving is big enough for two…. But for some it may be too difficult to share! Nice place … service is friendly and fast.

Best 🍎 apple pie there is! If you’re an American and regularly don’t like apple pie, give it a shot in Amsterdam and especially at Winkel. It is totally different here and how it should be, not so sweet or tart just perfect. The Apple, the crust and the whip cream are all amazing! Winkel has a lot of outdoor seating and is perfect to enjoy your pie and coffee, tea, hot chocolate etc. It was a lovely Sunday afternoon for dessert and some sun.

Great Dutch apple pie! I came here after reading online they had the best apple pie in Amsterdam and I didn’t leave disappointed. It was delicious, sided with whipped cream. There was a queue to be seated but it went quickly and smoothly. The apple pie was warm and the whipped cream was well balanced, not to sweet. Staff is very friendly. Highly recommend

The long line went fairly quickly so don't let that stop you the food was totally worth it. The servers were friendly and quick. It helps that everyone helps each other. We ordered our food then decided to order the apple pie before our lunch arrived to make sure we had plenty of room for it. Very glad we did as the food was delicious and we would have run out of room in our appetite for the pie if we waited. We had the salmon burger, this by far was the best thing we had eaten this whole trip, the vegetable soup, and pastrami with sauerkraut sandwich. The atmosphere was fun and inviting. We would go back in a heartbeat if we had time.

Amazing pie!!! The whipped cream was a bit much. Plenty of seating outside. My espresso had coffee grounds in it :( but the pie was so good that I still came away happy

Absolutely heaven! Pair it with a hot mint tea and you have the perfect dessert. The place is easy to find and service staff speaks English, not to mention very friendly too. The whole place has a really nice vibe as well. It even opens until 3am in the morning! Funny story, the couple besides us (likely European tourist) didn’t order the Apple pie. But after looking and hearing how good it is, they ordered one each! 🤣

Very popular & affordable place for easily the best apple pie in Amsterdam! There are seats at the terrace under a roof, outside on benches in the sun, or inside. Service and waiting times are good, nothing to comment on. The slice of apple pie was a good portion for the price. Overall, fantastic experience

A fantastic aspect of Winkel 43 is its very large terrace. It can fit many people outside and even when it was crowder, I had not problem finding a table for myself. I originally ordered the brownie which was very rich and tasty. I eventually came back to order their renowned apple pie. While very good, I feel like it was promised to be something else. I was a little underwhelmed. I also had a cream of zucchini soup that was fantastic and warmed me up on a cool autumn evening. Winkel 43 also has a great selection of beers and my server recommended a very nice Dutch Draft beer that suited my personal taste palette very well.

We went before lunch time on a drizzling, slightly wet weekday and the inside was full. Waited for 2 minutes to be seated outside. The staff was helpful: the wind blew the menu away and she quickly chased after it. The apple pie was great. Do try to finish everything or have someone take away your plates as there are many birds waiting for crumbs!

Must must must visit for the amazing apple pie. The crumble is perfectly buttery, the apple pie chunks are generous. Don't hesitate to order it for to go and enjoy it on the nearby bench if you couldn't get the table. My first time visiting I could sit inside but the second visit the queue was too long (around 4 pm).

I am someone who isn’t a big fan of apple pie. But this one here is really good. It’s not too sweet, the apple flavor is not dominating and there’s a good balance of the apple and the crust. The dinner menu looked very interesting and we would come back to try other dishes. The atmosphere is very lively with people and music.

MUST TRY! My tour guide gave me the location of this hidden gem and told us that it was the best Dutch Apple Pie in Amsterdam. It definitely lived up to the hype. Small, cozy cafe that will usually be full, but the atmosphere is so warm and the staff are so friendly. I've sent multiple friends there when visiting Amsterdam and they all loved it. It's definitely a bucket list site if you're visiting.

THE BEST APPLE PIE IS HERE! The best quality apple pie of what pie is supposed to taste like. Blown away! The cream was a perfect portion too very generous for the price as well as lovely English breakfast tea and choices of coffee. I understand why there is a queue when you go there! Nice seats outside too for a view of the city streets!

I precisely went here to enjoy the Dutch Snacks! And by all means I tell you, THEY ARE PERFECT. Alright—might be a little bit too much, but, TASTY nonetheless. Idk how they could do that but the apple pie is so soft, creamy, just very juicy but sweet and sugary???? The whipped cream didn’t taste bad AT ALL, it’s very light sweet in a perfect blend with the pie! To tone down its sweetness (in case you don’t really fancy sweets). THE BITTERBALLEN?????? They are DELICIOUS your honor. Also, freshly made?? From the texture inside and THEY WERE REALLY HOT LIKE BURNING OUR TONGUE HHAHAHAHAH. Totally worth it. Plus don’t make me start with how fast, thoughtful and friendly the waitresses are. They are sooo lovely. Thank you for your services🥹💗 I wish you all well and great business!

Super crowded but at the same time fast! We just went in to have their apple pie and thankfully found a seat the the bar. The pie was everything I expected it to be, it was amazing and warm. There was a decent amount of outside seating as well. For sure worth the try and walking to that part of town!

I must say, the taste did not disappoint. Paired with a dollop of whipped cream and a steaming cup of hot chocolate, it was a delectable combination that warmed both heart and soul. However, it's worth noting that the wait time was quite substantial - nearly 40 minutes in line. While the experience was undoubtedly memorable, it's uncertain if I'd be willing to endure such a wait again. The pie itself, though, was a masterpiece. The crust was flaky and golden, encasing a generous filling of spiced apples that were just the right balance of tart and sweet. The whipped cream added a luxurious touch, and the hot chocolate was a comforting companion to the pie. Despite the wait, the overall experience was enjoyable. Winkle exudes a charming, quintessentially Amsterdam atmosphere, and the tantalizing aroma of freshly baked goods is irresistible. For a taste of authentic Dutch apple pie, I'd still recommend a visit, just be prepared for a potential wait.

Walked just under an hour to visit here and came here for the apple pie only. The staff are really attentive and very helpful. The apple pie was incredible, very filling, the right amount of spice and the pastry was rich and dense. It was very busy and full when we arrived, however it was about 5 mins wait for a seat to become available. The service was also very quick too. The waiter who served us was very friendly, helpful and answered all our questions. I also asked to see the full pie before it was cut, and the waiter was happy to show me. A positive experience and would recommend.

It is the most delicious apple pie 🥧 in Amsterdam 😋 🍏🍎. The cafe was busy and set on the bar 100% of customers paying the apple pie. It was served warm and request it with cream on side. The mix make it to the next level 🤤🤤🤤.

The place is great! The hype and the wait in the long line during heavy rains was worth it. We ordered an apple pie with whipped cream and hot chocolate. The taste was out of this world. Seating was underwhelming. Otherwise, the experience was great. Cheers!

It’s a small shop so be prepared to wait, but it’s worth it. The apple pie filling is soft and not too sweet. Would’ve liked more filing though. The crust is not my cup of tea but my friend really enjoyed it.

Apple pie with a whipped cream (5.60 €) was very delicious and a light dessert. Portion is enough for two people. You can sit outside or take away to avoid the line.

The apple pie was crunchy great texture but the apple is a bit tasteless. Overall of apple pie is ok. Not excellent for me. We also order brioche salmon burger. This menu is superb. Service was ok.

Hands down, the BEST apple pie ever! The crust maintains a delightful crunch, while the soft interior bursts with rich apple flavours. The apple slices in the middle still retain a satisfying crunch! Each bite is a taste of heaven. Pairing it with the cream is a must, it takes it to another level, trust me. I was never an apple pie fan and this completely changed my mind!! Despite it being just a short trip in Amsterdam, we came back another time for the pie. It's just THAT GOOD!

This place is really popular in Amsterdam for their Apple Pie. Buttery crust and cream on top, it was really delicious alongside with a coffee. The place is located in Nordermarkt in Central Amsterdam. Nice place to enjoy breakfast and brunch. Don’t miss the Apple Pie!

As they say it’s the best apple tart in Amsterdam (or even in our life). We went here almost every day we are in Amsterdam. We were in Amsterdam for 3 nights and we went to Winkel 3 times! It is THAT GOOD! We tried the mango cheesecake too it was so good. Definitely a recommendation place for apple tart. And definitely will come back

Not a big fan of apple pie but the Dutch apple pie was so freaking good!!! The best apple pie that I’ve ever had in my life!(It cost 4.9€) Not much sugar added so you could taste the natural sweetness of the apple!!! The crust and the crumble on top was so buttery and super tasty!!! Don’t forget to add the whipped cream☺️ but if you like something really sweet maybe this is not the one for you

I love the apple pie here, it’s the best I have ever had. The place is nice and you will have a nice evening watching to the canal. The place gets busy and o think the queue management is not the best. Also some umbrellas for the sun would be nice. But the service, coffee and the pie are definitely worth it!

I haven't had much apple pie in my life, but I can already tell that I will probably never have one that's better than the slice I had at Winkel 43. Awesome food, friendly staff and a cool location next to a massive church. Definitely recommend checking this place out!

Excellent apple pie! The portions are quite big, so you could share 1 between 2 people. They have fresh mint and ginger tea, as well as beers and other food. People seem to come here just for the apple pie.

The highlight restaurant of my trip. I came early in the morning for an espresso and a slice of their famous apple pie with cream. It did not disappoint. Some may ask, why apple pie for breakfast? I respond, why not? The staff was nice and the restaurant was cozy. This was a spot the locals came. It's a must stop for those who visit Amsterdam.

The trademark apple pie tasted.. home made! The apple was firm and not sour. The crust was also crispy and doughy. With the cream, it had a very homely touch to it and anyone could probably eat this all day. The toast was pretty average.. nothing outstanding. Coffee was good and strong, but nice to have a larger cup.

Famous appeltaart café! Came with a friend for a brunch. The apple pie was indeed delicious. Nice balance with the whipped cream, not too sweet. The omelette was also nice. If you want a place to chat and have a nice meal, this is it.

The worlds most tasty apple pie! Truly mesmerised by the subtle taste of the freshly baked, spiced apples. Love the fact it wasn’t too doughy or overpowered by sugar. The coffee was good too. One star less than five because service was slow, I don’t blame the waiter because there was just one of him looking over several tables!

Place fills up by around 10am. The sandwiches are simple but good. Easy to see why everyone loves the apple pie. It’s not too sweet and the crust is crumbly and goes very well with the apple filling. Staff are really nice and attentive. Quite a bit of seating available outside the cafe if the weather is nice.

Finally tried the famous Winkel43’s dutch apple pie. The pie was absolutely phenomenal. It is not only delicious pie but also the staffs are just amazing. How efficiently and happily they work, really amazed me. All the staffs worked hand in glove and completed every orders in the blink of an eye. It was a great pleasure to see and feel their such good vibes. The pie was just as perfect as I expected. Crispy, not too sweet, love pieces of apple softly crunchy in my mouth. I definitely keep coming back to Winkel43 for their pie and their vivacious vibes.

Very nice and famous place in Amsterdam city centre. Their apple pie is a must eat - perfect in every sense! I've tasted with cream! I'd like to say that my visit to Winkel 43 in the end of June 2023 was perfect... but no, it wasn't. :( I arrived there after 8 pm, full of expectations... then I ordered a tenderloin with potatoes for dinner, followed by the famous pie. Then I waited more than one hour for the main course... Hungry and tired, I started to feel like a fool... So, I cancelled the meat and just ate the apple pie. Very good, but not a great evening though.

I’m not usually an apple pie person but this really was amazing. It had the right texture and flavor! Definitely coming back again. Also had the focaccia sandwich which was also pretty tasty. Service is pretty fast but you need to get their attention to order as it is quite busy. Total was €21 for 2 people: 1 apple pie, focaccia sandwich and 2 ice lattes

  • 5/5 Leander B. 9 months ago on Google
This place should be on everybody’s Amsterdam bucket list. The Apple pie is incredible and i can recommend the focaccia as well. Sometimes the line can be very long so just make sure you do not go at peak hours on the busy days. Will definitely come here again.

The yummiest apple pie…perhaps maybe in the world. This place doesn’t disappoint ever. Been going here since 2019 when I first came to Amsterdam. This is a must try if you are in Amsterdam. And one of the few places where u do get great customer experience in The Netherlands :) and being open till 3 in the morning also helps. Just keep in mind they have other stuff on the menu but for that try and go before 8 PM.

Good place for pastries. Apple pie was partially good for me. Expected more out of it. The place was crowded and you need to wait for a place to sit. Service is good though. Tried nachos as well. It was good but not the best one I have had.

It was a really nice experience, particularly with the cold rain outside during autumn. We loved the instant smell of cinnamon and the savour of the famous apple pie. The quantity is good for the price, we didn’t wait a long time.
