THIS HOTEL STEALS MONEY!!! NO SAFE IN THE ROOM. MANAGEMENT DOES NOT CARE! MULTIPLE PEOPLE REPORTED STOLEN MONEY I recently had the unfortunate experience of staying at the Vondel Garden Hotel, and I feel compelled to share my disappointment and frustration with fellow travelers. My stay was marred by an incident that reflects not only the hotel's lack of security measures but also its dismissive and unprofessional approach towards guests' concerns. During my stay, a substantial amount of money was stolen from my room (2000EUR). Now, let me say this: we are not idiots. Amsterdam is a pickpocket destination. We had 4000EUR and spitted the money evenly. There was no safe in the room so we just left it in our bags. The shock of this incident was only compounded by the inadequate response from the hotel staff and management. Rather than addressing the situation with the urgency and seriousness it deserved, they chose to deflect responsibility onto me, the victim. Their attempt to label the incident as "alleged" was nothing short of insulting and dismissive. During our stay we heard form other people their money was also stolen, all though in smaller numbers. What is most disconcerting is their lack of interest in investigating the theft promptly. Despite providing clear evidence, including a police report and video footage of a staff member confirming the absence of a safekeeping facility at the reception, the hotel showed no willingness to take responsibility. They just said they are waiting for the police. This blatant disregard for guest safety raises serious concerns about the establishment's priorities. Furthermore, the absence of a safekeeping facility violates basic safety standards for a two-star hotel. It is evident that the Vondel Garden Hotel falls short even in meeting fundamental requirements of their own rating. My attempts to engage with the management in a constructive manner were met with resistance and further deflection. Instead of addressing the core issue of theft within their premises, they chose to focus on insignificant details, casting doubt on my credibility as a guest. In light of this distressing experience, I am left with no choice but to caution about the lackluster security measures and indifferent attitude towards guests at Vondel Garden Hotel. I implore you to consider their safety and well-being before booking a stay at this establishment. It is my hope that my review serves as a reminder to Vondel Garden Hotel to reevaluate their security protocols and their approach to addressing guest concerns. Until such changes are made, I cannot in good conscience recommend this hotel to anyone seeking a safe and enjoyable stay in Amsterdam. Choose wisely and prioritize your safety when selecting accommodations in the city.

This is not a hotel, its more a horror hostel Hallways and rooms were smelling really clean Small breakfast buffet included in the price. Bad coffee over the whole day for free at the reception at least. Located in a really nice area, with quick access to the city centre The room and bathroom wasnt properly cleaned Really small room, more like a wardrobe Not really friendly receptionist Bed full of hairs, did a reclamation, room should have been cleaned next day - nothing happened. Shower worked for 20 Sec. then paused for a Minute and re-worked again for 20 sec Definitively a place to avoid, dont let you fool by the price

A nice 3-star hotel that didn't disappoint. Vondel Garden was a cozy hotel with small, but comfortable and clean rooms. Its location was ideal for exploring Amsterdam's museums, parks, and city center. A nice (scheduled) breakfast spread gave us the energy to start our day. Although the stairs were steep, they were safe and manageable. The bathroom facilities were compact yet clean and had excellent water pressure and heat. Additionally, there was an in-room safe., Comfortable beds ensured a good night's sleep. Friendly staff were always available to answer questions or assistance with directions

(Translated by Google) Folks, never ever ever go here in your life. Made a booking for next Monday with two groups of 4 people. Paid in advance but then two get infected with corona and three others are awaiting their results but we get 0.0 cooperation. They don't care that some of us are sick and charge 216 euros anyway. I asked if they would prefer us to come (sick or not) and they are all fine with that. Weird that they don't take their responsibilities. Last I heard from them is the cheeky question if I want to cancel in case we don't come so that they can catch 216 euros and give the rooms back to someone else. You have been warned!

(Translated by Google) There was no fan in the room and in 30 degrees it's a bit unbearable upstairs in a non air conditioned room. We didn't have a retreat in Amsterdam and were busy resting somewhere which turned out to be expensive fun. The room was almost completely delivered with 2 small suitcases, Conclusion: it's small, hot and by the time you get to the top you're already sweaty and the weak shower isn't really a way to cool off.

(Translated by Google) Of course you have to look at the hotel from an Amsterdam perspective. Of course there are better hotels for the money elsewhere, but you can still spend a night or two here if you are only in the hotel for sleeping and showering anyway. Otherwise you are only in the city anyway. The rooms are not the most comfortable, but it is enough. You have free Wi-Fi (although quite unstable), a TV, comfortable beds and a bathroom with a shower (the shower head unfortunately mounted on the wall). The staff was friendly and accommodating. A star deduction, because there was some mold in the bathroom and the mirror was smeared. Storage space for laundry would have been good because it was completely missing. If you have a light sleep, it will be difficult to sleep, as everything is very noisy and there is a lot of nightlife outside. All in all recommendable for the price and the potential is there to upgrade the hotel.

Small room. No AC. No frills. Just a basic bed and room. What ruined it was bed bugs in my room. I left without staying the night. The staff was friendly and they did give me a full refund. But it seems this place is struggling with a bed bug problem. Be aware of that.

Room no.2. No AC (only a ventilator). Traces of something black ( mold ???) on the windows wall. no room for toilet seat (very very hard to do anything) . The blanket was horrible and . Very very used towel (and only one for two people, we used our owns ). The ceiling was also full of something like black dust, maybe mold, but there was no smell. All the nights, something like soot fall over bed. Also we believe there was something on the bed - we boiled our things after reaching home - because one of us had very strong reaction - we first believed it was some chemicals used, but we also found first night a very small insect that walked on the sheets and when we crushed it something red was came out - we could not identify the insect, and unfortunately, in the middle of the night we did not think to call the receptionist. We did not want to ruin our weekend, we did not want to be difficult customers, but when we go to a vet and showed the wounds , he recommend to boil everything. We can provide pictures with the wounds, as the word used was "bed-bugs" - we "hoped" for flea. Also, because a refund was not possible we believed our options were limited. To be honest, we will never accept that kind of payment. We were dumb and gullible that even on a two star hotel, in Netherland and in a Booking recomended something like that can not happen. Fool us once, is enough.

We stayed here one night for the marathon of Amsterdam. The staff was nice, there is a coffee machine in the room but no water kettle, so the receptionist brought one for us. The room is small but convenient. The location was good.

So i just visited this little gem at the center of Amsterdam. I did book and prepay and then looked at the reviews which initially got me a bit worried. Now i can safely say that non of the recent negative ones make sense. Rooms are very clean and all mattresses are fresh and new. No sign of infestation or whatever. Room was also being cleaned daily. Breakfast was simple but all fresh. Room was quiet and the hotel felt very secure, multiple card locks to get to a room as well as a safe. The location is amazing for moving around key areas and finally the price is a bargain. Will surely visit again. Staff was super polite and helpful. Room was comfortable with a nice view and the shower was ok. If there is one negative that i could think of is that the stairs are kind of steep and there is no elevator cause its a traditional Dutch building, so some folks might have trouble with the floor accessibility.

Best location for the best value for money. Very clean and neat. 2 minutes walking distance from museums, cafes, and tram. There is no lift which might be a problem if you stay on 3rd floor, but other than that I highly recommend!

Ash-burn holes in the sheets, one noisy and obnoxious hotelier on arrival (the other was entirely pleasant). No kettle or coffee in the room. The location was good and the bed was comfortable, but there was little else of merit. Very disappointing for the cost.

Expensive for what you get, and no freebies in any form. One issue I had was that my room clearly said on the hotel rules summary that they lend you adapters to use if you are from the UK, but when we asked for one the man said we had to pay £3 to borrow it, which we didn't get back. Also the place probably has bed bugs, which I'm allergic to, so I had a couple tennis ball-sized bites which were more severe than mosquito bites. Cleaners are good here though. And the location is why I gave 2 stars instead of 1.

The location is within walking distance of a lot of great places, although there are many other hotels in the area. I got a single room for three days. It was small, but the size was okay. There's no fridge or microwave. The bathroom is lovely. The service is great though. The main issue is the wifi. I can't get it at all in my room. I saw a lady on the stairs trying to get wifi. An ideal spot if you're middle class and plan on only sleeping here and not doing much else.

Great base to explore Amsterdam. Small hotel with small rooms. The family room was good and clean a bit noisy in the morning as it is on the ground floor. Hotel is near the Vondel park, museums and nightlife center. The clerk in the front desk was extremely nice and showed us tips where to visit as well as told us a bit of history of the city.

The hotel is welcoming, the rooms are comfortable and adequate, the cleaning is almost excellent. The only thing that we didn’t appreciate was the reception service, in the night time, especially on December the 18th at 8-9 pm. We asked for information but the man didn’t help us at all, we almost felt like he was making fun of us for a little mistake we made with the bike rental (which had nothing to do with the hotel). He didn’t seem available at all to help us. He also made a kind of racist joke about Italians, saying that he had problems with them smoking in the room, even though we already told him that we don’t smoke. Fortunately in the morning we met a very kind receptionist named Marilou who helped us with various problems we had and apologised for the unsatisfactory service we received.

An affordable hotel in a very good position. The rooms are quite small but comfortable and clean. The receptionist is extremely kind and welcoming, perfectly capable of giving you an overview of the must see attractions of the city and also some hidden gems. Definitely worth the price.

(Translated by Google) What I think is good is the bed comfort and also the bathroom natural room. What I don't like is the toilet Toliette chair and also the washbasin is close to the door. I say the bathroom is too small. But otherwise leftovers in the hotel room are good. I give 3/5 (60%). (Original) Was finde ich gut ist der Bett Komfort und auch der Badezimmer Naturozimmer. The room was crawling with these pests, and it was impossible to get a good night's sleep with the constant itching and discomfort. The staff's response was lackluster at best, showing a complete disregard for guests' well-being. To make matters worse, the breakfast was beyond awful, with stale and tasteless options that left me feeling sick. The overall cleanliness of the room was questionable, with dirty surfaces and a general lack of upkeep. I urge anyone considering a stay here to think twice – this experience left me terrified and disgusted.

So, picture this: I leave my room for a bit, right? Just a quick jaunt, nothing major. I come back, and what do I find? A chewed apple on the table, with little rat bites all over it! No kidding, it's like Remy from "Ratatouille" had himself a party while I was out. I mean, who knew rodents were into healthy snacking, right? I couldn't decide whether to scream or laugh. The audacity of a rat turning my room into a buffet is something I won't forget anytime soon. And guess what? The folks at the hotel? They didn't seem too fazed by it. It's like rat feasts are a regular occurrence around here. But hold on, there's more! The room itself was a total snooze-fest – cramped, no AC, and seriously lacking in any kind of charm. And let's not forget the cherry on top: the not-so-friendly bed bugs. Yep, I was out of there before sunset, no question. No refund by the way. The only silver lining was the friendly staff, but even they couldn't salvage this shipwreck. So, my advice? Spare yourself the headache and the rat-infested snacks. Find a better spot to crash, unless you're into rat roommates and dodgy accommodations. Trust me, you'll thank me later.
