Cleanliness is okay here. Not sure about the bedsheets if they are because we started sneezing because of the dust. Bathrooms AND shower are SHARED! You only have a sink in the room.. The rooms for 2 are approx 8 m2. Also the stairs are like a ladder, super hard to go up.

Near the train station and restaurants around. The bed is okay, no bed bugs. Worn out, the stairs are steep going up to the room, no elevators, the rooms have thin walls. Good stay for a night. The receptionist is really helpful and friendly.

It's right in the center of oldtown so you are next to everything you'd need as a tourist and can walk everywhere with no problem. But being so close to all the bars and the red light district means it's loud and there is a lot of lights during the night so don't expect to sleep too well. Also the rooms are a bit small and there are a million stairs to get to them. At least it's cheap and the staff is very friendly and the reception is open 24 hours. So just get your expectations in check and you will have a good time or book something more comfortable for a lot more money.

Other than the good location there isn't any good compliments going towards this place. Bathroom layout is absolutely terrible, the toilet is right smack to the door so it's very awkward trying to go to the toilet. There should be some rooms where smoking is prohibited but judging by the comments it looks like smoking is allowed throughout and you can tell as the walls and curtains reeks of the smoke. I genuinely feel like I could get lung cancer after staying for the 2 nights.

The best thing about this hotel is the location, it's right in the red light district and about a 10 minute walk to the central station. The room was tiny and very basic but seemed clean. The stairs are very steep and narrow, hard work getting a suitcase to upper floors. The bathroom was extremely dated and small like most of the hotel, definitely needs a refurbishment. I could constantly smell cannabis in the hotel on the way to the room. This hotel is literally a bed in a room with no frills whatsoever.

DO NOT STAY HERE.... STAFF ARE THIEVES! We checked in late, we had to provide €10 deposit for the key and we only had a €20 note at the time, the receptionist took the €20 and when we checked out said we had only paid €10!!! He kept repeating "Everyone pays €10"... over and over and over again, no co-operation, he wasn't listening, disgusting service, disgusting, greasy, horrible thieving staff that will steal your money any opportunity they get. The hostel/hotel is in the middle of Amsterdam centre, shouting/banging all night, reception constantly forget to buzz you in so you have to go back down stairs to ask them again, not a nice pay to stay, smelt and felt dirty.

Very Near to Amsterdam Central. Everything necessery is around and this hotel will get all the good rankings for location. However, First time Asian travelers might get shocked with the following observations - 1. Almost 80% rooms are very small with insufficient private bathroom area. 2. Almost NO Amnety provided. Inadequate even for a Budget Hotel standard. 3. No Room Service 4. Not so-much-active front desk. Nonetheless, might be very handy and value-for-money dewllings for solo travelers and for the bagpackers

Great hotel to stay at if you want to be centrally located during your stay! Close to lots of shops and the central station if you want to visit tourist destinations away from the city centre.! Very helpful and kind receptionist. Offered us tips and were helpful upon requests from us. Cheap and clean place!

I really enjoyed my stay at Hotel Ben. My friend and I stayed in room 238 for 3 nights. The staff were very friendly and efficient. Especially Memett as he couldn't do enough for us. We got fresh towels everyday and sheets when we asked for them. Nothing was too much trouble. We got what we paid for. For anyone staying there is no TV, fridge or kettle in the room. It's a 1 star hotel. You get what you pay for. We were provided with a hairdryer. There was 46 steps to our room!! We were on the top floor. There is no lift. It was quiet. I slept well all 3 nights. There are church bells from a nearby church, that chime at random times until 8.30pm. The hotel is in the city center across the road from Primark, McDs and lots of local restaurants. Thank you for making Amsterdam so enjoyable. I would stay in hotel Ben again.

Good located for sightseeing but not very comfortable place in rather noisy area. Small rooms without essential items like cups or glasses. Very steep stairs leading to upper floors. The Staff was friendly and helpful.

Get ready to walk a huge pile of steps. Its very special steps they have and once you are high all steps seen in sky as well 😅 Room was decent, neat and good. Clean. It was very safe. And its located in best place of the city. Main street and best option for tourist.

We stayed there for 4 days and we had a bad experiencie. I’m not talking about the service as people treated us well. The problem is the room which is extremely simple and with a bad smell. Another point that for me was the worst, was the situation of a employee for 2 days entering our room without authorization. Both times the person came in at 9am, the first time he told me he wanted to change the towels and the second time he woke me up to say that my check out would be at 10:30am. I wouldn’t recommend or return to this place again. If I can give you an advise: pay a little more and be more comfortable with your family where else.

As the name implies 1 Star hotel. So nothing is expected. Location is great, right in the center of Amesterdam. Stairs are not well designed. Rooms are small. But to the price paid its good. No parking available

Horrible hotel. Stinks like hell. One staffer in particular was extremely rude on arrival. Room was terrible and towels were dirty when given to us. Will never stay there again.

Cheap and literally in the center of everything you have to visit. A small room with private bathroom - very important! It looks dirty but in my opinion is just the fact that the building is just old. It's the perfect choice if you want to spend time and money outside rather than in a hotel room!

  • 2/5 Veronika L. 1 year ago on Google
Perfect location, worst equipment. Rooms are puritan, moderately clean and smell from weed heavily. Noisy from neighbours. I suggest only if you don't want to spend too much there.

  • 1/5 Dean G. 1 year ago on Google
The only star this place is getting is for me feeling that this would be anything reasonable. This place is only for people who plan on crashing in bed at a late hour after chain-smoking to the point passing out. Dirt, smell, thin walls and zero space for yourself in the room you rented awaits all those who dare.

The worst hotel I have ever been to! Don't waste your money here. It has a disgusting smell that you feel as soon as you arrive. At reception you can only pay in cash, and on the page they clarify that you can pay by card but it is a lie. There are only stairs, so imagine going up with your luggage. The attention of the staff is very bad. We spent 4 nights there and only one day they cleaned our room. The only good thing is the wifi signal.

Location is excellent, price is great, I had heard about stairs before my stay but I was on the ground floor so didn’t even notice. Nice room with a big window to smoke fat joints out of. Staff friendly

For the cheep price it's good, comfy beds and good service, if you ask staff they will provide, very cute cat that lives there too. Centre of amsterdam, we barley had to get Any transport. Large windows that let in good light and nice rooms.

if you’re looking for a cheap, private room in the center of town, this is your place. not at all fancy but i had a fantastic view from my shoebox room. the main thing: IT WAS CLEAN!!!! staff very friendly. highly recommended

The good first: good location near central station, small but fair mattress, and hot water. Personnel is very nice and friendly. Very clean room, towels and bed sheets. Bads: small and noisy bedroom, not outlets to charge any electronic device, dirty carpet floor, too many stairs to access rooms, no breakfast, no refrigerator, no telephone in rooms, no alarm clock or radio, no air conditioning, no toiletries, no lamps and lamp stands, no hair dryer. Hotel is very loud when costumers open and close doors and walk in their rooms and hallway. There are a constant noise of banging furniture and doors on all floors at anytime specially during the night hours. Hotel has not regulations regarding quiet time and many uneducated people get there at anytime screaming and talking loud at any time of the night. My room's floor was moving up and down while walking on it. Other than convenient location for Amsterdam visitors I would not recommend this hotel to anyone.

Compared to other available accommodations it is cheap. However, the quality/price ratio seems high to me. The rooms are mediocre. in a week they don't change your shower towels. They do not give you the option to decide if you want them to enter the room to make the beds or not, they enter directly without asking. Good location, close to Amsterdam central station.

The rooms were clean, the guys working at the reception are very cute and the position is one of the best you can find.

+ cheap + clean (like just basics) + very good location - loud outside Can recommend, don’t expect too much, you just get the basics.

We had a room for 3 . It was big enough with a big and clean toilet . The bed sheets where warm and heating was okay. You have to pay with cash only. It had an amazing cat as you enter the hotel, so cute 😍. The only thing I would like to change would be bigger and much more mirrors in the room. It only had one small in the bathroom AND more electrical outlets. We only found 2 and one of them was for a hair dryer , very high in the wall . Except for that 2 things ,everything was very nice. Also the location Was Perfectttt!!!! The road was touristic with amazing food shops but again the room inside very quite!!

Hotel Ben is located in a central area, close to the city center and the train station. Inside there is the bare minimum, that is beds, bathroom and windows. Great economical solution if you want to visit the city and go to the hotel just to rest and sleep. I’ll be back!

  • 2/5 Janče K. 2 years ago on Google
Small room, not worth the price. It was too noisy. The only pros were the location which is near the train station and the flexible check-in times. I wouldn't recommend it even if it is for a short stay.

Not recomend it all, one older guy in reception was high or what i dont know... He was go in 3 times in my room sceaming about smoke detector which it was not tached. It showing smoke... Go around that hotel never go in that hotel toiled not working well.. walls floors not straight not need to use magical muchrooms... Corridors stinks atleast weed. Great service and location. Basic room just big enough for a double bed and your bags. There is a private bath. The walls are paper thin so when people go up and down the stairs it's so loud, it can wake you up. The stairs are also very steep but I think that's all over Amsterdam. It's cheap so it's what you'd expect

  • 4/5 Madeleine W. 1 year ago on Google
The room was small, cheap, clean, and the bed was really comfy! Only downsides are that the walls are thin as paper, and the stairs are lethal. But I noticed most stairs in Amsterdam are lethal. Staff were really lovely and helpful! Good location as well.

This hotel may not be beautiful, but the location makes up for everything. If you actually want to stay in your room in the middle of Amsterdam then perhaps you should look into the other hotels that cost a minimum 200 euros more per night. This hotel is basically a place to crash and sleep off the night before with only a few meters walk to all of the fun in Amsterdam.

  • 5/5 Leon M. 1 year ago on Google
Very good value price for its location in the centre of Amsterdam. Five minutes walk from central station and all the main city attractions. The hotel provides all the basics you will need for your stay. Coffee and vending machine in reception. Reception open 24 hours. Toilet and bathroom facilities were good and clean. Will definitely look at booking here again next time I am in Amsterdam.

  • 4/5 Giulia S. 2 years ago on Google
The hotel is not fancy, but the prices are very good, the staff is very friendly and always ready to help for any necessity, and the room has everything you need. Plus, there is a very lovely tabby cat welcoming you at the reception: I loved him! ❤

The rooms were disgusting with what looked like bodily fluids over the wall. The rooms are tiny we did complain but to no avail so we checked out early I would not recommend this hotel not even a cheap/cheerful hotel it’s awful.
