Under no circumstances book here! We had booked a long time ago, we arrived and the hostel is now a refugee accommodation. The man at the reception apparently had his first day today and had to wait over an hour before he had to go to another hotel

They simply canceled my booking for October. Now I bought an Explorer Pass for free and am getting a refund from A&O instead of compensation. A refund is a given. However, there should at least be compensation for this. Since we no longer have any alternative options. / edit: After requesting, I have now been given an alternative hotel by A&O for the same date, and it is apparently only a walk away from the actual hotel, so everything is fine.

Wonderful place. I had a wonderful time with my friends. The modern design of the room. purely. Very nice hotel service. 100% recommend

Great value, 1 minute from the metro, comfortable beds, lovely breakfast! The team is nice, the rooms are spacious and the big windows make it airy. Greatly recommended!

Very good hostel at convenient location. Include breakfast with your stay when you are here. Book in advance else it is always full. Booking.com is the good option to book. Additionally you have to pay city tax here at reception.

It’s a nice hostel with enough space. The price is adequate. Only remark is that there is not enough staff at the reception/ café so we had to wait quite a bit. Also the cleaning staff didn’t clean properly. But for the price it is absolutely ok, so it’s still 4 stars :)

From August 2nd week onwards me and my friend staying in A&O Hostel Amsterdam. From the first day itself we are facing some difficulty to use laundry service & kitchen. Now from past 1 week the laundry service is totally out of order, Even the reception staff don’t know when it will repair. The kitchen facilities are to much limited, Only 2 induction cooker & 2 fridges for Almost 500+ guests and there is no oven as well. Kitchen & Laundry facilities are mandatory basic requirements of a hostel .

Yet again an amazing stay at A&O hostels! I stay in one of these every time I travel and it never dissapoints. The location is great, very close to metro, so getting to the city is super easy. Rooms were clean and nice, breakfast was tasty and the staff was SO helpful - they really hire the nicest people here! Thank you for a great time

Really nice and helpful staff, were always around when we needed anything. The hotel is right next to the tube so it makes daily travelling so easy and convenient. Rooms are clean and well equipped. Really enjoyed my stay there!

Comfortable, spacious, modernly equipped and designed for all types of tourists, from parents with children to business travelers. The hotel is situated close to many attractions such as the Ajax stadium, the gasperplein and golf courses. The hotel is located right next to the metro station (approx. 80m from it). Right next to it is the huge Amsterdam Arena shopping complex, which has all the most important types of shops as well as attractions, such as a huge cinema or a restaurant by the water. The hotel service, despite the fact that it is composed mainly of very young people, works as if they have been improving their knowledge for decades.

Great place with reasonable price, good location near the Metro station. Polite staff. Great breakfast and good dinner. Rooms are clean. I suggest this place to everyone. I believe their slogan" travel for everyone"

Made a booking for a busy weekend (2 Bruce Springsteen concerts) a year in advance, and they canceled it 3 months before the dates, without offering alternative accommodation for the same dates in the same city, just "ah yeah, you can have money back if you already paid or stay somewhere else in our chain" (the nearest other thing from the chain is 80km away). In the meantime, everything in Amsterdam that doesn't have luxury prices is already booked; even a bed in a shared dorm costs more than nice hotels did at the time of my original booking. Well, thank you. Zero reliability. This is not how you do business.

Can only recommend! Clean rooms, friendly staff and great service. The food was good too. If you are looking for an affordable stay in Amsterdam, this is the place to go.

Access to the metro is a very important advantage of this hotel. The behavior of the staff, especially the restaurant staff and kitchen attendants, is extremely friendly and makes one's stay there memorable.

I would stay here again when visiting Amsterdam! The prices are very affordable for what you get! The place is neat and modern with everything you need - a co-working space, billiard/darts room, a small restaurant, shared kitchen and breakfast with a good variety (paid)! Plus there are vending machines and an ATM where you can get small necessities (like pads and shampoo), drinks and snacks. It’s also pet friendly! The rooms are very clean with a lot of plugs to charge everything! I love the fact that you can book a female-only dorm! I was a solo traveler and felt 100% safe. The location overall is just ok though. I did feel a little nervous to walk around on my own, but it’s not terrible. The only thing I would change are the mattresses - they are kinda hard. But personally I prefer a softer mattress. For the price though, it’s completely fine.

Friendly and helpful stuff, rooms were clean and had everything we needed in there. Localisation of the place is really great, it’s next to the tube so it makes touring easier. I would recommend staying there.

Very clean and quiet hostel. It is a bit far from the centre, but the public transport gets you there quick. The staff was also very kind and helped me with directions and places to visit. Higly recommend 😊

From August 19th onwards I am staying in A&O Hostel Amsterdam. I am facing some difficulty to use laundry service, kitchen, fridge etc...last day I lost my food which I kept in the fridge, who is responsible for this? laundry service is out of order. Only 2 induction cooker & 2 fridges for all guests. Try to provide basic needs according to the demand.

Nice place to stay. Very clean and friendly people. Close to bus and metro stations and not far from the Schiphol Airport, Amsterdam.

Nice Hostel. Super clean. Rooms are too small when in four, but it is what it is. Well located next to the metro, during the day it is 20 mins to get to the center, 40/50 in the night.

Nice and comfortable room with much extra space. Bathroom is also very clean. They provide towel,shower gel and bed-linen(2€).

Everything you need! Very nice staff members, comfortable rooms and extras like a billiard-room and vending machines. But in case you are looking for a vacation with a lot of privacy, you should be aware that the hostel is very large and usually contains a lot of people.

Very friendly staff, clean rooms, nice bar by the reception area and reasonable prices. Would recommend if you're on a tight budget.

Good hotel with clean rooms. Staff is very friendly and helpful. Guest kitchen is available if you want to cook your own food and utensils are provided. But it has only 2 induction stoves so you might need to wait sometimes when it gets busy. Kitchen has 2 fridges where you can keep your groceries and meals but it is full mostly. Laundry is available and you have to pay for it, but it wasn't working most of the time during our stay. There is also a restaurant in the building where you can get coffee, drinks, pizza and sandwiches. Everything is good except for the paid laundry service and limited kitchen items. If they can add more stoves and fridges in the kitchen then it would be better.

Nice stuff and quick service. Every near from metro. But the remote was changed twice and still not functioned. TV screen was also broken.

Hostel quite basic but clean and close to public transport. Their emploees are polite and they like help you in all what they can. It's a good option if you are looking for a cheap place.

Stayed here for 2 weeks...very clean and neat place to stay...guest kitchen was really helpful as we stayed with baby... people in the front desk were friendly and helpful... located in walkable distance to bus and train station...

The house was very nice, perfectly connected to the city center. The staff has always been friendly, kind and helpful. I definitely recommend this place if you're considering to visit Amsterdam!

Great atmosphere and people. Reception very helpful with giving informations and tips about the city. Billard and 24/7 open bar were amazing in terms of relax and even more enjoyable holidays. Breakfast was delicious with lots of choices in a great price. I would definitely recommend it and I can't to be back there.

Everyone should have one small private room with window and not a large room with two windows at only one side and then more than one persons in a room.

Such a beautiful location, near a lot of shops and 2 main stations where you can take the bus, metro or tram and even the train!! which makes the city centre a couple of minutes away. The staff are very friendly and helpful and the area and rooms are super clean. this hostel is suitable for solo travellers, couples and even families. I highly recommend it!!!

My experience here was pleasant. The rooms were clean, the staff were friendly and helpful… perfect location no so far and no so close to the center which give a really good experience when visiting Amsterdam!
