One of the best bars in the world, I visit every time I'm in Amsterdam and look forward to the being in such a local bar, which although it can get very busy, can also be a sea of tranquility amongst the tourist craziness - such as the mad cookie-queue outside. Great beers, service and traditional menu.

Fantastic place to stop for an happy hour ! Do not miss the Bitterballen , delicious. We sat in the porch, view on a small cute square, very close to House of Ritual. Definitely a place not to miss

Absolutely amazing place! The atmosphere is so cozy. Large variety of beers, tap and bottle. And the meatballs are delicious. (Biterballen) as they are called - deep fried meat ragu melting in your mouth. That topped with few of the beers is the perfect end of your day in Amsterdam. I can't wait to go again.

Dining in a place with so much history was wonderful. It's a beautiful old building and a decent menu. Great to stop in for a drink, enjoy the ambiance or have a meal. The burger was really good. Bathrooms available upstairs.

Was looking for a quick eat and and drinks. We had such a lovely time having drinks here. Got the bread and tapenade which was just what we needed after a day of travelling. The service was great! Always felt we were being taken care of. Vibe was so nice and relaxing with a great atmosphere.

This is a must check!! When you visit Amsterdam you need to visit the oldest bar in Amsterdam! It is really awesome to enter but also outside you get an awesome service! Always happy to be there to get a drink and a bite! Ask for the Bitterballen and topical amsterdam snacks. Great service and lovely environment!

What a lovely place to have good food and drinks. After shopping we came upon this place, walked inside, dropped our bags and spent the next few hours enjoying our time. The staff were very nice. The food above average but the beer selection kept us there longer than we were planning. The interior is relaxing and comfortable. We were having such a nice time, neither of us took any photos. Sorry about that!

Great service. Cold tap beer. Great Moscow mules. Cool history. The bar is awesome. Cool history and great decor. Service is awesome. We walked in as tourists. Prolly looked like tourists. We’re shown to a table and asked for what we’d like. Definitely recommend!

Very long waiting time for food to arrive. Took 40 mins for a simple ham and cheese toast. I think there is not enough workers at the place.

We stopped here to have a break from heavy rain, we took hot chocolate and a muffin. They were pretty good, bartenders were really nice and friendly, we loved this area. People in Amsterdam are really lovely.

Incredible stop if you are exploring the streets of Amsterdam!

Nice place but was far too busy on a Saturday afternoon. Wait staff seemed to be frantic and understaffed. I was sitting by the bar and couldn’t help but notice to clean used glasses they simply dunk a glass in a sink full of very lightly soaked water and let it dry. No scrubbing..... I ordered a beer and asked to see if they did fries, the Dutch way (with cheese). They did not, and in fact they did not do fries at all. Strange for a pub!

Stop here! Bitterballen was spectacular. This is the oldest bar in Amsterdam so historically a must. The waiter hilarious. You cam sit have a beer and snacks and watch the world go by. Careful with the first bite the Bitterballen come hot!

I feel bad if people visit Amsterdam and I don’t take them to the Hoppe for a quick beer or other libation. Pro tip: go during the day and experience this old brown bar. It’s crazy busy at night.

Best pub in Amsterdam. The Amstel beer they serve must be the best served draught beer I have ever had. The foam is always the same, at the level I enjoy best. The service is very quick although the atmosphere is very cool. Must have with the beer, the meatballs !!!
