Probably one of the nicest squares in the world: it has the royal palace, the nationaal monument, and some very nice buildings with beautiful architecture around it. Inside some of this buildings there are really nice shops and even a few of them have some haute couture brands like LV, Prada, Dior, Hermes…

Dam Square is a historic and bustling square located in the heart of Amsterdam, the capital city of the Netherlands. As one of the city's most popular tourist destinations, it offers a vibrant atmosphere and a rich cultural experience. Here is a review of Dam Square. First and foremost, the square is dominated by the magnificent Royal Palace, which was originally built in the 17th century as a city hall. The architecture is stunning, showcasing a grandiose facade and lavish interior. The palace is occasionally open to the public, allowing visitors to explore its regal halls and learn about the Dutch royal history. Another notable landmark on Dam Square is the National Monument, a tall obelisk erected to commemorate the victims of World War II. This monument holds significant historical and emotional value to the Dutch people and serves as a symbol of remembrance. The square itself is a vibrant hub of activity, with a constant flow of people from all walks of life. It is a popular gathering spot for locals and tourists alike, offering a range of attractions and entertainment. You can find numerous street performers showcasing their talents, creating a lively and dynamic atmosphere. There are also several cafes, restaurants, and shops surrounding the square, providing opportunities to relax, dine, and indulge in some retail therapy. From international brands to local boutiques, you can find a variety of options for shopping. One thing to note is that due to its popularity, Dam Square can get quite crowded, especially during peak tourist seasons. It's advisable to visit early in the morning or later in the evening to avoid the largest crowds. Overall, Dam Square is a must-visit destination for anyone exploring Amsterdam. Its historical significance, architectural beauty, and vibrant atmosphere make it a fascinating place to experience Dutch culture and history. Whether you're interested in sightseeing, shopping, or simply soaking in the energetic ambiance, Dam Square offers something for everyone

Dam Square. It is a very beautiful place for me. I love Amsterdam and its atmosphere. You can see people of different nationalities in Dam Square. You can see the old historical buildings that add splendor and beauty to the place. You can take beautiful pictures there with the distinctive buildings and birds. I also advise you to bring some grain to feed the birds and enjoy more taking pictures. Great and don't forget to try the fries there I hope you enjoy.

I went to the Dam Square in this city of Amsterdam. It is an exquisite, stunning, and magnificent moment for me. The Dam Square's antecedents can be traced to the 13th century. It is a well-known location in Amsterdam for gatherings, picnics, public events like concerts and festivals, political campaigns, etc. Numerous tram lines that connect to different locations in Amsterdam run through the Dam. I'm excited to be here.

This is the central square in Amsterdam where many things happen. During Christmas, they even set up Christmas markets here was Ferris wheel and more. It's very touristy and there are many interesting stores surrounding the square for you to explore.

Large city square in the heart of central Amsterdam. Constantly very busy with people coming and going, with shops and tourist attractions all round the square. A few hot dog stands in the square itself and it seems to be an area where people come to protest as there were a few signs up on my visit. Due to how busy it is I'd recommend keeping belongings close, but that's good practice in any busy area.

The National Monument in Amsterdam is accessible on both sides. The entire square (from the Royal Palace up to the Monument) is made up of small cobble stones. May 4 is Memorial Day in the Netherlands. Flowers from the King and Queen and official institutions are traditionally presented in large wreaths.

An important and symbolic location. This is one of the most intriguing locations. I enjoy sitting on a bench and observing passersby tremendously. People arrive and go at a rapid rate. Whether they are with family, companions, or alone. I strongly suggest that you take the time to absorb the location's atmosphere, as opposed to simply shooting photographs. Be present and absorb the moment fully. This location made me feel so at home that I loved it.

The Dam, is a high built structure in the main square of the city center in Amsterdam. Located in between the red light district, the main station and the other city center zone very close, it’s a place where people can meet easily. A point of rendez-vous among people. By the way, you know why Amsterdam city is called Amsterdam ? Because of the River called Amstel and the Dam structure : Amstel+Dam = Amsterdam. You should thank me for the entertainment. 👍🏼 Thumbs up if you learnt something by reading this out

Always crowded with people, especially in weekend! A lot of people, some food stalls, local artists, and also pigeons. Love the architectures that stand around the Dam Square! Almost everyone knows Dam Square, so it can be a good meeting point if you were new in Amsterdam and lost from your tour group.

It's a beautiful square. I highly recommend visiting it at night and daytime. There are many small streets in between where you can walk around and get yourself a quick snack and would keep walking around. I highly recommend having a fully charged phone to take good pictures. There's free wifi in the area but not that strong.

Lots of pigeons here. And tourists. And attractions. And people that just sitting around or passing by. Lots of stores, boutiques and shops as well. You can find anything, from small convenient stores to your beloved Primax and Hema on a walking distant, to Magna Plaza, Bonneterie, and Bijenkorf. I even found my book heaven just near by lol. "It is the Dam Square, just a five-minute walk down the Damrak from Centraal Station. It was created in the 13th century when a dam was built around the river Amstel to prevent the Zuiderzee sea from swarming the city. During the sixties, the square was renowned for its Dam Square hippies, and the laid back and relaxed character still continues." (Iamsterdam) A lovely place to spend an evening, just sit and watch people passing by.
