Great hot spot happen to stumble upon looking for a quick drink and tosti! They were out of tostis, but able to get another Dutch inspired app which was yummy. Great patio and also nice interior as well! Friendly service! 🍷

Lovely coffee shop! Went there to get a traditional Dutch apple pie and it was delicious! It is a very popular spot for locals. On Saturday, one of the most famous food markets in town is on - right next to the coffee shop!

Great staff!! Seems like a local spot, great selection of beers and the Apple pie is to die for - Again the quality of food in Amsterdam is amazing!

We started our food tour in Amsterdam here and loved it! The staff is wonderful and the atmosphere inviting. We had the apple tart and it was glorious - would come here over waiting in line at Winkel any day.

Great for a drink with some snacks and get a feel of the Amsterdam coziness. It’s always busy, but there is always a spot for you. Let’s go hijsen at Thijssen!

Don’t eat here, you will waste your time and overpay. We waited for almost 1:30 hours for our food (simple tostis and breads) when they did they had forgotten 1 plate. We had to wait 10 more minutes. Food was nothing exceptional. They also forgot our drink order, and all the glasses were dirty. Don’t waste your time.

Terrible service, place is dirty. When asked if they can clean the table, we were told that the table was clean. At least 15 minutes for a super simple drink order. When highlighting the issue to one of the staff members, all we got was an explanation why things were bad. Seriously, avoid this place at all cost! Many, many better places to go to in Amsterdam.

Shame, I really loved the atmosphere of this place. So it’s a pity both times I’ve been here I have had horrible experiences. First time the bar tender cracked jokes at the drink I ordered. I asked for a whisky with ice. Apparently I was “a girl” for ordering this combo? The second time I attempted to order from the bar like before, but I was told it was now table service only. It was silly since I was only getting one quick drink. But okay whatever… this would be fine, but then after sitting down no-one ever came to my table. Waited 15 mins and then left. So many better places around here, you can literally cross the street.

Cute little cafe, Apple pie was very tasty. (Came here on a food tour so portions were smaller)

The first time I stepped into this bar was 7 years ago. Fast forward to today, it is still the same. Very little has changed. If you are in the neighbourhood, especially if it's sunny, sit on the terrace and enjoy this local bar. Simple as that!

Chill restaurant with good apple cake and ginger tea. We came here on a food tour of Amsterdam for the apple cake. It rivals Winkel 43's apple cake down the street. The ginger tea comes with strips of ginger in it. Very delicious. Easy to pay with card. Staff is super friendly. Toilets for paying customers. Indoor seating good for bigger groups. There is some outdoor seating.

Cozy neighbourhood nook for a coffee, snack or drink. Staff is very friendly. Popular with locals. My favorite time to go is in the morning after opening.

So slow. 15 minutes for a espresso. Awful, loveless breakfast. Not a fan.

SCAMMERS! This has been the WORST experience in Amsterdam after a LONG list of encounters. Upon arriving at the establishment, 10 minutes later we asked for the beer menu. After another 10 minutes and after asking for it on 2 occasions (because the waiter FORGOT), we ordered a 6 euro pint. After waiting 20 minutes for the pint and seeing how others who had arrived after us were served, I had to get up to the bar to ask for the pint AGAIN because the guy had FORGOTTEN. They served us a 0.25ML... After complaining and 10 minutes later, the guy served the pint saying there would be a discount. After another 10 minutes, the guy, DECISIVELY brought to our table a bottle of a beer almost TWICE as EXPENSIVE as the one originally order saying that it was invited by the HOUSE (...?). When we had a quarter of the beer left, the waiter finished his shift and by the time we asked for the bill they charged us for the beer we were INVITED TO, MORE EXPENSIVE than the originally ordered one and without having asked for this second one. When they brought the bill and after we explain what happened the new waiter serving us asked us rudely, 'Haven't you drunk it?'... XD. The first waiter is a thin blonde guy about 25 to 30 years old with light eyes. The second is also a guy about 25 to 30 with wavy dark hair. A DISASTER site full of AMATEUR KIDS without experience and SCAMMERS, I would not recommend this damn dive.

We popped in for a break mid day. My partner had to take a work meeting, and I wanted a bite to eat. Place: Thijsse was warm and cozy. The place was bustling with activity,l. A steady stream of customers shuffled in and out of the building. Food: I ordered the soup of the day, which was a split pea soup. It was super thick and full of flavor thanks to the bits of ham that were mixed in. Drinks: I ordered a coffee and my partner ordered the mint tea. The flavor of the month tea was not strong, perhaps because the water was more warm than hot. But the coffee was nice.

I highly recommend this place. We have been there two times, once for dinner and once for breakfast. The quality of the food is high and the prices are affordable. There is a lot of space to sit (inside and outside). The waiters are friendly and kind. We did reserve for a breakfast buffet, but not for dinner the day before and the staff handled our orders (26 people) astonishingly well.

👍 A cozy restaurant with a view. I liked those Avocado chips very much. Comparatively budget friendly in central Amsterdam. (More ideal for a coffee date.) They are providing white bread with steak. . . PS: Don’t forget to reserve a table and visit the restaurant.
