Embarrassed to say that I have biked right by this beautiful Windmill house for a couple of years and only now decided to stop and take a picture. I read that it's the most photographed windmill in the Nederlands and after taking the time to stop and enjoy I understand why. It also appears that a family lives there. Best way to visit is via a bike ride, which the whole area is just beautiful sight seeing and a few restaurants spotted all along the river. Take a day bike the area, you'll love it!

I was lucky enough that while we ware taking photos and walking around this place the current resident in this place came out and was ready to show us around he told us the history of this place and the story how he got it from the local government to operate it to control the water levels unfortunately the inside is closed for visitors but still a beautiful nice place with nice views

Beautiful old windmill that makes for a nice location for taking photos while on a bike ride. There is plenty of space for bike parking here as well as a water fountain.

We went biking by the Amstel one very hot summer evening, than ended up by this windmill. It was lovely & quiet to sit here on a bench with a nice breeze and the windmill in the background. You can also hear & see wildlife

Beautifully maintained, classic Dutch windmill at the south end of Amstelpark. I cycle by all the time when I'm out on my race bike.

Nice working windmill in which a "molenaars" family is still living. On a beautiful day with not to many tourists it is a nice spot to look over the Amstel river and see the rowers do their exercises.

At the southern end of Amstelpark. There are 8 windmills in Amsterdam and this one is one of the ones in a quieter parts and you can walk right up to it.

Nice windmill within biking distance of the center of Amsterdam. We came to visit it after seeing it on Ted Lasso (apparently this was the one that was featured during Jamie and Roy’s bike ride). It’s worth visiting if you’re in the neighborhood as it’s a historic site and feels a world away from the chaos of the city center. Also, be sure to spend some time in the nearby Amstel Park if you visit.

There are no words to truly capture the magic of De Riekermolen Windmill, but I’ll give it my best shot! Nestled just outside of Amsterdam along the picturesque Amstel River, this historic gem is an absolute must-visit. As a local, I have the privilege of living just a 30-minute walk away from the windmill, making it my go-to spot for a bit of exercise paired with exceptional views. The journey itself is a therapeutic escape from the hustle and bustle of city life, leading you straight to this breathtaking piece of history. On my most recent visit, I was convinced the sunset would shy away, but to my astonishment, the sky transformed into a canvas of wild pinks and purples. The windmill, standing tall and proud, was perfectly silhouetted against this vibrant backdrop, with its reflection dancing gracefully on the water’s surface. It was a sight to behold, and one that I will cherish forever. While the windmill itself is not open to the public, its beauty can be wholly appreciated from the outside. It stands as a testament to the rich history and natural beauty of the Netherlands, and it is evident that it has been lovingly preserved for generations to admire. In essence, De Riekermolen is more than just a windmill; it is a sanctuary of peace, a piece of history, and a visual spectacle that never fails to leave me in awe. Whether you’re a local looking for a serene escape or a visitor eager to experience the Netherlands’ iconic windmills, De Riekermolen is the perfect destination. Don’t miss the chance to witness its beauty firsthand – it truly is a sight like no other!

Just enjoy the beauty of De Riekermolen standing there tall, big and alone. This is a must when out biking by the Amstel river. Just enjoy the calm and beauty. Also take time to enjoy Amstelpark next door.

Very cute windmill at the edge of Amstelpark. It looks like a private property so don’t go too close. Nice walk through the park. You can ride your bike, drive or walk. Amstel river is nearby

This majestic windmill is perfectly located near by the river Amstel. But because peope live in this inactive windmill, we can’t go in. Yet photo making is allowed. It’s nice place to visit with a bike or boat ride. The surrounding is beautiful, with a farm on the other side. This spot is frequently visited and drawn by Rembrandt. Therefore an artist built a statue of him kneeling near this windmill.

Beautiful classic Dutch windmill - looks great too in silhouette from the other side of the river. The parked car of the inhabitants is somewhat of a disfigurement though.
