The cookie itself is great, but there are so many knockoffs that I've tasted before this one, that I didn't thought it was something special or something that is worth standing in line half an hour plus for. If you want to taste this cookie, you can order a pickup from their website and pick it up without waiting in line at all.

One of the more popular cookies places in Amsterdam. Friends have gone there, family has asked if I have been there and based on the ratings, it seems to be really good. We tried to go here in the summer on a weekend and the line was past the street and into the canal so we made a plan to comeback in the Fall on a weekday and right when it opened to avoid the crazy line. We ended up going in mid September, we got there 5 minutes before opening and we were about 15th in line. 10 minutes later we were inside and we ordered two 6 packs of cookies. This cookie was quite good, they put some sort of cream in the middle and everything just tastes like it came right out of the oven. Really nice, I can see why the line and demand is high. Also it was nice to eat this in the canal area.

these are not one of the best cookies - but the best I've ever eaten! meet exactly my expectation for cookies! I thought that one box (6 pieces) would be a lot for 2 people - very sweet. But not ! So balanced taste. Divine cookies! Yes, a long queue - but don't wait long. Now I feel like eating again - but we are no longer in Amsterdam! I recommend to everyone!

Self explanatory place that engraved its destination into the compass of many visitors of the lovely Amsterdam. Highly quality ingredients will never fail to get the attention and this place is doing it right. Cookies are distinctively delicious and no regret to wait in the long queue, which seamlessly go fast. Many thanks to the owner and hard working team, who receives you with a smile and the likewise when you leave, handful of great cookies. Enjoy the treatment.

Very well known shop for cookies. So busy all around the day and it gets sold out sometimes before closing time. The queue is too long but the service is quick. The taste is yummy but I honestly wouldn’t wait long for this again.

This cookie place only sells one flavor but they do it really well! It is a bit expensive but the flavor is so good. There is a long line even before it opens but I have heard that ordering it in advance allows you to skip the line, which is a good tip I should follow next time. The cookies were very warm and gooey, and had a nice texture to them.

This is one of the best cookie I ever tried. Definitely worth waiting in the line for it. I suggest everyone not to be so late if you want to give this cookie a try, because once dough finishes, they close the store😊

After queue for an hour we found out you can order in their website. ORDER ON THEIR WEBSITE and pick up, much easier. My husband loved the cookies, shame they only do one flavour. Packaging is gorgeous. We order 6 cookies to share and they were kind enough to give us extra packaging to split it later .

One of the best and most popular cookies in Amsterdam! The queues are endless, avoid peak time between 1200-1600 as wait time can be from 15mins. Service was great with friendly and helpful staff. Freshly baked, dark chocolate cookies with white chocolate, gooey centre and the butter rich cookies can be addictive, hence the lines. Bought 6 cookies and the tin, because I have to get the tin can since it looks cool, for $20Euros. Worth it? Yes, but not with a long wait time, come before 1100 and the queue along with wait time was minimal, I only waited 3 mins.

These cookies live up to the hype! So so tasty and the buttery. Ultra delicious. So happy they only have one cookie as it would be hard to choose! Heads up - get there early as the line is very long and they take their time!!

You will need to be patient because there’s always Q line in front of the shop. It took me and kids around 30minutes of waiting outside. This store is small so they can only serve 3 group of people at the same time. For me it’s worth it, here are WHY I LOVE THIS : This cookie made from a dark cacao, filling white chocolate and topped with white choc chips. Dough is perfect not too sweet not too bitter White chocolate has a milky/creamy taste but not greasy kind. Both perfectly balanced each other. It cost 2€/ cookie There’s a deal for 10€ you gt 6 cookies, BUT each person can only but 7 cookies Maximum. Their tin box is pretty but cost 5€ perfect for gift. Honestly i bought a tin box and 2x 6cookies (i was allowed to buy more than 7 as i was with my son).

In A Nutshell: -If you are looking for some of the best cookies on Earth, you need to grab some Amsterdam (chocolate) cookies at Van Stapele. -Yes, there is always a line to enter the tiny shop, but it moves fast. -You are limited to a maximum 6 cookies per person. -They come in a standard cardboard box or for a couple euro more you can have them in a nice, keepsake tin container. -They only sell & are known for their chocolate cookies. -The cookies are best eaten fresh, however, I was able to store them in my trusty tin container, travel through Europe & back home to the USA. -There are instructions that come w/ the cookies on how to reheat them. -I reheated them about 2 weeks later & they still tasted fresh & absolutely delicious. -The white chocolate filling is magical. Overall, if you love cookies, you need to grab some Amsterdam cookies!!

This is one of the best cookies I have ever eaten. It is made of dark chocolate dough with white chocolate filling in addition to some milk chocolate in between. They serve only this kind of cookies but giving the taste of their cookies it is more than enough. What adds to the experience is that they serve them warm. They are also reasonably priced. 3€ for one cookie and 15€ for 6 cookies. They also have tins to put the cookies in if you want which costs empty 5€ and can be filled with up to 8 cookies; they would make a nice present especially to someone with a sweet tooth. You will see a huge queue there but it moves very fast. I was waiting on the bridge which is at the end of the queue but in fifteen minutes I was out with my cookies so do not leave because of the long queue. I will surely come back again. Highly recommended.

This cookie place is one of Amsterdam's top places to visit. When we went, we made cue for 10 minutes and at the same time they were making cookies so we ate them freshly baked. However, when they sell all the cookies, they will close the store. The cookies can be stored at home so they come with printed instructions (in the box) of how to do it. They taste really good and the combination of chocolate with the white chocolate is amazing. Also, I recommend to buy a coffee or a hot chocolate to pair with the cookies.

This cookie is absolutely perfect. 3€ each and 15€ for the box with 6 units It has everything a cookie should have. Crunchy outside, very creamy inside. Good size, good package, good smell. Even the store is impeccable. There is a single flavour, which facilitates the customer experience (have you ever been to a shop with 50+ flavours and you never know what to choose?). However, as every good shop, you will face a queue. We were cruising through the city and got there early in the morning. The queue was small. We spent less than 5 minutes to get our piece of heaven. If you are spending some days in Amsterdam, I would suggest to pass near the shop a few times to don’t spend much time waiting. Even if the cookie is technically perfect, I don’t think it’s valid to spend 1 hour in a queue…

These are literally worth the hype! One of the best cookies I have ever had. They were soft and crumbly and the white chocolate filling inside took the cookies to the next level. I waited in line for 1 hour but i feel it was worth it. You can take a maximum of 8 cookies per person and it is almost always crowded.

Van Stapele in Amsterdam is a must-visit for cookie enthusiasts. Despite not being a fan of cookies, I was intrigued to try their renowned creation, and it exceeded all expectations. What sets Van Stapele apart is its singular focus on one flavor, executed to perfection. Arriving early is key due to the first-come-first-serve system, as the demand often outstrips supply quickly. Priced at 3€ per cookie or 15€ for a box of six, it's a worthwhile indulgence. The cozy ambiance and the opportunity to witness the cookie-making process add to the charm of the experience. Whether you're a cookie aficionado or just curious, a visit to Van Stapele is highly recommended when in Amsterdam.

These are one of the best cookies I’ve ever tasted! I consider myself a decent at home cookie baker, and have made dozens of different cookies over the years. These were perfectly baked, best eaten immediately, and they were not over the top too sweet! The line was a bit long but it moved very quickly.

If you are in Amsterdam, this little bakery is worth a visit. They only have one type of dark chocolate cookie, which is made freshly. These little cookies are delicious and fill you up quickly. Be prepared to wait in line for these since it is a popular place, but I think it's worth the wait and the price.

Hands down the best cookies we've ever had. Don't be disheartened by the length of the line, or goes down super quick. We bought the box of 6 for €10 and agreed to have 1 a day.. they were devoured all in one sitting!! Do not miss out on these!!

Might be the best cookie in town. Only sell one kind of chocolate cookie but still attracts so many people to come and buy.

They only have chocolate cookies with white chocolate filling. The cookies were fresh from the oven and were nicely packed. If you buy a larger quantity, you get them in a cute tin box. The staff was friendly too. The place can have a long queue, but I recommend visiting it not during busy times. I’d say it’s a very good cookie but not the best in the world :)

So if your in Amsterdam and looking for a good treat this is the place to go... Coming from NYC, I might be biased for cookies but these are some of the best. It seems to be a staple and the long lines definitely hold up to the hype. The store is small, and the lines are long but they move quick. There's only one flavor so it's easy to order and grab your cookies and head out on the rest of your trip. My tip is get 6 cookies, it's the best deal :)

  • 5/5 Sagar B. 1 year ago on Google
Lived up to it's hype as the best cookie shop in the world. It's a small cookie shop in a narrow street (not easily visible). But there is some magic happening inside there. The smell of fresh cookies makes you eat as many as you can. Worth the experience.

  • 5/5 Sarah C. 2 years ago on Google
Definitely worth a visit. Don't be afraid of the long line, they go fast. The combination of dark and white chocolate is a win.

We arrived at 9:57 and people were already queing, but they were moving very fast. The cookies are great. They close the place when they finish all the cookies made for the day. I highly recommend it!

By far rhe best cookies of Amsterdam. Love the looks of the shop so unique and antique looking. The service is also very good

This cookie place is very famous in Amsterdam, and i believe it is a must try when you visit, the cookie is standard but very unique and juicy, filled with white chocolate on the inside. There might be a long queue to get to the shop but i believe a 15 mins wait is okay for such an experience. The staff were friendly, especially considering that they are always under stress. Must try !

So delicious! These cookies are heaven in your mouth. The inside melted chocolate is just a big plus. Really enjoyed trying these. There is a very line outside (we went around 4:00pm on a Saturday and had to wait about 15 minutes), but it was absolutely worth it! Highly recommend trying at least once when in Amsterdam!

  • 5/5 Christine L. 1 year ago on Google
The line is long but moves fast. There is only one kind of cookie and it's really good. Definitely worth the wait. Once you are inside the store, it smells like heaven.

Nice store, smells good but the cookie were a bit disappointing. Dark and white chocolate flavours are pretty bland and lost within the cookie. Was really expecting a better cookie with all that hype/queue

  • 5/5 Ian C. 1 year ago on Google
Lives up to the hype. Incredibly delicious cookies. There was a queue when we got there, but only took about 10 mins to clear until we were in the shop. Definitely worth the visit and on our list for our return trip to Amsterdam. Picked up a nice tin with 8 cookies in for €19

One of the best gifts to give out, both for yourself and friends and family! These cookies are absolutely delicious and come packaged so beautifully. One not to miss. Location: (5/5) It is located in the heart of the city. As a local I usually don’t go out of my way to visit here, but I always make an exception for Van Stapele. It can be a bit crowded to park your bicycle and there is always a queue here. But worth the wait. Food: (5/5) Absolutely love these cookies. Just warm them up a tad to allow the chocolate to melt a bit and it is heaven in every bite. The texture of the cookie coupled with the softness of the chocolate make for a delightful experience with every bite. The cookies are also not too sweet so makes for a great option for all pallets. Service: (5/5) The staff are extremely friendly and kind. Though so many people visit every day, the make it a lovely experience as they always display a lovely smile on their faces. The tin containers are amazing as well. They have changing artwork on it depending on the season. I especially love the one around winter/Christmas. Summary: (5/5) Whether you are looking for a gift or want to grab a fabulous cookie, this is the place to be. This place is a must go and certainly one that I have already visited more than 20 times to get gifts. Drop by and you will certainly not regret it.

I arrived 45 minutes early, anticipating a queue, wanting to be among the first to ensure a timely departure. After 5-10 minutes, people started lining up, and by 9:30am, about 30-40 people were waiting, extending to the opposite side of the alleyway. It was fascinating to witness the staff preparing the cookie dough for baking. Tasting the cookie was exceptional and lived up to the hype. It was delightfully light yet rich, crispy yet soft, and fudgy yet chewy. They've truly perfected the recipe to an art.

It 's totally worth waiting for the yummiest cookies ever! The staff was very polite and helpful in a very picturesque shop well fitted these amazing cookies. Make sure to go early at 10am before the last cookie is sold. I can never have enough of them and the same goes with all of the people that I recommended them.

  • 5/5 Brian B. 4 months ago on Google
Yes, everything you have heard about this place is 100% accurate. These are the most insane cookies you will ever have. When the store sells out, the store closes, so get there early, get in line and just keep telling yourself, it will be worth it, because it will be. This place is actually worth the hype. Been coming here for years, if I didn't bring home some for my wife, the door would not have unlocked, yes, they are that good. Get there around 11am-12pm for the best chance at a shorter line and to ensure they have plenty available. Limit is 8 cookies per customer.

  • 5/5 Nico T. 1 year ago on Google
with a queue as long as this one, one wonders, “is it worth the wait”? only if you want the best cookies in our home galaxy that are, at the same time, entirely out of this world 😋😋 if you’re like me and you’re not the biggest fan of white chocolate, fret not dear picky eater, you’ll be a fan of theirs. the shop is quaint and charlie-and-the-chocolate-factory-esque with a cute train display in the front window and their cookie conveyor that lifts them into and out of the oven. super nice staff, great location. very magical all around✨also, the branded tin is such a cute collectors item i didn’t even know i needed until i saw it 🤩

Beautiful double chocolate cookies with white chocolate centre. You are allowed to buy max 8 cookies per person, with the deal being 6 cookies for £10.90. Be prepared to queue for a long time if you do not get there at-least half an hour before opening. People queue for upwards of an hour and some longer as the queue was going back 2 canals over. They are really nice tasting, soft. I would go back again but wouldn’t say they are worth queuing an hour for!

  • 5/5 Yoko S. 4 months ago on Google
I stood in a long line, even on Monday morning. However, it moved quickly since the crew was really helpful & attentive. I bought 8 cookies in a very cute tin case. The cookies taste good, but not somewhat special that you can't find them elsewhere. Overall, I think this place is still worth a visit.

One of the most popular spots in Amsterdam. Had to wait 1 hour under the rain for theese cookies. To be honest they look really nice and their service is good but the cookies were not the best. Still I recommend you to try them while you are there.
