My
friends
and
I
had
an
extremely
disappointing
and
uncomfortable
experience
at
Oliva
in
Amsterdam.
We
were
a
group
of
seven
women
of
color,
excited
to
celebrate
our
friend's
bachelorette
night
out.
We
had
a
reservation
and
were
on
the
guest
list
because
our
friend
was
DJing
at
their
event,
but
from
the
moment
we
arrived,
things
took
a
dark
turn.
The
trouble
started
when
we
approached
the
line,
and
a
transgender
woman
who
was
working
at
the
door
treated
us
with
outright
hostility.
Instead
of
assisting
us
with
our
reservation,
she
rudely
instructed
us
to
wait
at
the
back
of
the
line,
dismissing
our
efforts
to
understand
what
happened
to
our
booking.
It
felt
as
if
she
wanted
to
put
us
in
our
place
and
treated
us
like
animals.
Ironically,
we
had
expected
an
inclusive
environment,
considering
that
LGBT
rights
and
the
fight
against
discrimination
are
vital
in
our
society.
However,
any
notion
of
inclusivity
was
shattered
as
we
faced
prejudice
and
discrimination
based
on
our
skin
color.
When
my
friend
questioned
the
way
she
was
being
treated,
the
staff
became
even
more
aggressive
and
confrontational,
leading
to
them
eventually
kicking
us
out
of
the
establishment.
It
was
a
deeply
hurtful
experience,
especially
considering
that
the
person
at
the
door,
who
treated
us
so
poorly,
was
herself
transgender.
It's
disheartening
to
witness
such
behavior,
especially
from
someone
who
should
understand
the
struggles
of
discrimination
and
marginalization.
I
strongly
advise
against
supporting
this
establishment.
The
management
and
staff
at
Oliva
clearly
lack
basic
human
decency
and
respect
for
people
of
color
and
different
backgrounds.
It's
a
shame
to
see
such
racism
and
sexism
perpetuated
in
a
place
that
should
be
promoting
acceptance
and
understanding.
Save
your
money
and
avoid
Oliva
at
all
costs.
There
are
plenty
of
other
welcoming
and
respectful
places
in
Amsterdam
where
you
can
enjoy
a
night
out
without
being
subjected
to
such
mistreatment.
