Air War Museum Fort Veldhuis

Tourist attraction War museum

👍👍 Interesting museum about the air war of the Second World War 1940-1945. The Tilbury room with a film about the pilot and crew is highly recommended, giving you a better understanding of why these aircraft should be salvaged. Middle aisle looks neat with different items and stories about it. There is... People often mention museum,

Interesting museum about the air war of the Second World War 1940-1945. The Tilbury room with a film about the pilot and crew is highly recommended, giving you a better understanding of why these aircraft should be salvaged. Middle aisle looks neat with different items and stories about it. There is a coffee room where you can have a drink or a sandwich or apple pie and there are toilets available. Furthermore, the employees are friendly people who will show you around the museum. The day we were there (early May) there was also a re-enactment group and vehicles on display to herald the opening of the museum season.

Heel leuk Fort. Mensen die er werken zijn erg aardig. Er is veel te zien. Zeker het bezoeken waard. Het meenemen van cash geld is aan te raden mocht je er wat willen eten of drinken.

I was not in the museum. It's a pity. But the place itself is very atmospheric. The fort itself is impressive, by the way, it was built in 1897, it was rebuilt and in the 40s of the last century it already looked like it does now. It entered the circular defense of Amsterdam on a level with other forts.. Exhibits near the fort too. I saw young people nearby reenacting the events of that war. I recommend

Interesting place, well documented. Enthusiastic volunteers. Not only from a militaristic perspective but also in a social historic context, putting names and pictures to aircraft crew makes it much more personal. Certainly worth visiting

Excellent museum, well worth a visit. They do such good work recovering and identifying lost airmen and returning them to rest. Such stories and memories kept in this museum honouring the lives of those lost. A lovely location with excellent exhibits

Excellent museum to get a good impression of the air war in this area. Nice exhibition of the many materials they have. The use of light and sound and recreated models make it a special experience. Enthusiastic volunteers. And last not least; great mission of this group to track down missing soldiers and give family peace!
