My stars review is with all the respect with the employees, that work nice and hard there. We consider that there is a silver lining between information and reality. The museum may also be considered a themed park, which makes it funnier for the children. The down point was when we saw a lovely dog chained. Not enough space for it; only the minimal to move. The dog was super sad. There were another animals there, but they were in a proper place. It’s very sad to see that the museum considers this attitude acceptable. Our visit lost its happiness from there.

Probably the best children education park in the Netherlands when it comes to history. Great for parents too! Personal advice, be there a bit before lunch. Have it in the roman courtyard or at the munks abbey. And enjoy a funnest dat of an amazing history lesson

This place is great for taking your kids, it has fun activities in certain areas such as swordfighting (which is was quite good at), archery and more! The place is a little small but it would be fun and educational for your children if you ever plan on going!

Excellent day out. Typical living museum regarding the characters in each living age (mesolithic, middle age, Roman etc) with a lot to see, read and take part in, including archery, armour testing, The characters/staff are really knowledgeable and are more than happy to explain their section and what life was like at that time and what tge various items and roles were. The gladiator show was well done and a laugh, all in Dutch but you don't require translation, it's easy to follow. Another standout is the area for the renovation if the Zwammerdam ships, excellent info points and extremely knowledgeable staff who explain and got into great depth. We were based at Reeuwijk, a shortish bike ride and made a great day out.

(Translated by Google) Why are there sheets at the children's department for making a coloring page with the information that: December 6 is not the birthday of Sinterklaas, but that it is the date of death? Bit apppart at a Sinterklaas children's party of the Archeon .. where Sinterklaas is walking around or where you can have a picture with him ?! Was here with my nephews nieces and daughter ... My daughter is the only one who cannot read ... The rest is, but is still religious!

Upon alighting at the train station, we were greeted with signs that guided us to Archeon museum park. Archeon is a beautiful park which is worth a visit. Perhaps it was because we went in November, but there were no information on the website about when or if there would be a gladiator show. There are many houses that you can walk into, and actors in some of the houses. The restaurant at Archeon serves hand-made pizza which is quite delicious. There is also a playground for children. However, we were quite perplexed to see that Archeon has big animals locked away in a small square. This is the only reason why we would give it a 3 stars.

A great place for kids to learn how people lived years ago. It is good to know that the restaurant is selling some vegetarian burgers. An Incredible place! A lots things to see and learn. Many workers here to explain everything for the visitors. Very interesting activities during the weekend! Entrance ticket is expensive, but with the museum card is free! The workers here are very kind and patient, too. They have a large playground. Paid parking lot. Souvenir shop. Several snack shops and café-restaurant. A visit will take you somewhere between 3-4 hours.

When coming with kids reserve the whole day especially if you buy the activity cards as well. We arrived at 12:30 and did not get to see and do everything by closing hours. The place is very interesting and each attraction takes a while. Each corner has its own story and the activities are nice. Quite interactive for everyone.

Super place that has an air of authenticity thanks to the passion of the individuals dedicating their time to this place. A true haven of nature & culture in South Holland, Archeon is a very nice place for the young and old alike. Just another reminder of why I love living in the Netherlands!

Great outing for kids with lots of interesting exhibits related to history. Can take up a nearly a whole day here. Excellent actors with lots of great craft activities for kids. Would especially recommend the knights jousting, was amazing to experience. Only negative was one actor was quite rude to our small daughter.

(Translated by Google) Nice to walk through. But if you don't have a museum annual ticket, the cost of a ticket is too high in my humble view. Then it is not worth the investment. (Original) Wel aardig om door heen te lopen. Maar als je geen museum jaarkaart hebt, zijn de kosten van een kaartje in mijn bescheiden optiek te hoog. Dan is het de investering niet waard.

Nice museum, especially with kids. Information boards are slightly superficial. Art in buildings is not always realistic, for example we saw rather cheap dummies in the Roman bath house. The Archeon certainly gives a good general impression but lacks finesse.

Amazing museum. I enjoyed the full reenacment, the quality of clothing wear by the reenactors and buildings and tool replicas done as they should. Kids and adults enjoy the experience. Essencial: Arrive early, to enjoy to full extend.

The BEST “museum” I ever visited!! I loved how they have the ages and how they explain to children and even adults what they could and could not do at that age!!! I am a geologist and fascinated by the subject and they were perfect!!! We loved the canoeing exercise! I am really impressed by this place! Recommend to all!!!

great place for kids to learn how people lived years ago. It is unfortunate that the restaurant is selling only vegitarean chicken and burgers. If the musuem goes to great lengths to stay as close to the original time period, the restaurants should do so too. If you sell chicken it is chicken and not some vegi alternative. etc. If they improve their catering I would have rated this 5 stars. In the mean time make certain you pack some meat sandwiches for lunch if you decide to visit.

Horrible restaurant, so be warned!!!! First it is super small and narrow, so you wait for ages in the line, going through all the food table. Then, you are told not to pick food but order by cashier. By then, I saw some people were allowed to pick up food and does not need to wait. Options are very limited, and it you are not veggie, it is super frustrated since 99% are veggie. So it is definitely better to avoid the line and bring your own food! Save you time and energy

Nice and carefully decorated museum park, awesome for kids, but for adults also enjoyable! Prehistoric/medieval village was superior to the roman area. Themed and dressed up employees bring the experience really to life. 23 euros is quite expensive though, but if you have a museumkaart it's really a must visit.

Amazing open-air museum about the history in the Netherlands. The have a section about the hunter-gatherer people in the Netherlands, as well as the first farms in the Netherlands. There is is small piece about the people that build the portal tombs in the Netherlands. After this there is a big section about the history of ancient Rome, with many nice buildings and even a gladiator show. They currently are also restoring an old Roman ship that was found in the Netherlands. Furter, there is a large section about the middle ages with many nice houses you can enter. Lastly, there are many activities for kids like archery, training as a Roman soldier and drawing things. So recommended for kids. Also they accept the museumkaart.

Good place for families with young children. It is interesting for them to see how people lived long ago, the life before electricity gives them some perspective. There are playgrounds and other activities to keep children busy. The staff wear historical clothes, the animators are nice and provide explanation over the exhibition.

The viking week was fantastic! AGAIN! This is an amazing outdoor, live action museum. It's like walking through time from the Neolithic to the Middle Ages. There are interactive presentations everywhere linked to had made structures (temples, homes, businesses etc). It's free with a museum card and also open as an accommodation and function Centre. Cannot recommend this place enough, easily worth a 6* rating.

The Archeon is a beautiful open air learning museum. Children can visit well made buildings and habitations from prehistory to roman empire and middle age. Actors dressed as people from these times make the experience even better. There are also many nice activities for the children. I guess it is best suited for children between 6-12

Archeon is a great outdoor museum, where you bring your dog. They have a great playground for kids, ages like Romns, Middle Age etc. are presented with typical houses for each age. Archons staff is vested in typical clothes and they can tell stories about the age. Often they have interactive stations, e.g. you can bake bread over fire, or try to fight with a sword. The Klooster restaurant is great, especially the lentil soup!

Theme park featuring replicas of buildings from different eras like the Roman Age and the Medieval Ages. Actors perform at fixed times. Fun way to polish up your knowledge of history and beat your mother in law during one of those boring trivia games at Christmas. Compact layout so easy to complete with small children. They have a large playground. Paid parking lot. Souvenir shop. Several snack shops and café-restaurant. A visit will take you somewhere between 3-4 hours.

An open-air museum which is both fun and educational. Here is a place you can get as close to the history you can in our days. I experienced the Roman gladiator fight. Temple ceremony and there is lots of friendly staff dressed up as the era in the park they are stationed. I highly recommend it.

(Translated by Google) Nice park for when it is a pleasant spring, summer or autumn day. Almost everything is outside, so dry weather is nice. Spaciously set up, our 5-year-old son was just old enough, but he still enjoyed rafting, romping around in the playground and the gladiator show. We have a museum card, but whether I would be willing to pay 20 euros for it, mwah, I don't know. Corona rules were neatly enforced and the type of audience the park attracts is also neat in enforcing the rules. In any case, it was not too busy, but it was fun.
