Great day trip if you drive. You need to get tickets for the National Park as well, so make a full day of it to explore as much as possible. The collection is incredible, huge Van Gogh section along with lots of modern art, it takes about 2hours I'd say. The sculpture garden is great and larger than expected. The outdoor restaurant had good lunch dishes for about 15euros.

Awesome museum, great collection of art, especially Van Gogh. I also love the way how they give information to people and how they lead you through the exposition. Another one cool thing is that museum is located in the middle of national park and windows are like another one paintings, so beautiful nature. They also have one of the biggest sculpture park in Europe, so if you like modern sculpture, it’s definitely worth to visit. And museum is easily accessible from Arnhem station, so if you don’t have a car, that’s not a problem (we traveled there from Cologne without any problems).

Absolutely great! We loved the museum. Great collection in a wonderful place - this national park is just simply astonishing. In my opinion, the indoor collection they have - mostly paintings is of course great but The TRUE GEM is OUTDOOR sculptures and structures. Something that most of the museums cannot afford to have - just lack of space. And here you can see absolutely top artists contributing. What’s also nice is that the museum doesn’t feel dead - they work with artists now as well and commissioning new artworks. Maybe a good piece of advice would be to bring a sandwich for lunch with you (or there is Julia’s at the Arnhem station) because the restaurant they have has very little choice, almost no vegetarian options and gets very crowded in the lunch time so there is a big queue. And with a sandwich you can eat in the woods, looking at great sculptures such as Needle Tower… Overall - this museum is absolutely must-see👍🏻

Excellent museum with an unbelievable collection of Van Gogh paintings. It's probably the biggest such collection that I've ever seen . Also there is a very extensive collection of sculptures placed around the park. This museum is definitely worth visiting.

This museum is off in the cut. From Amsterdam, it takes over an hour, so plan accordingly. You'll need the whole day to get there and then back. It's set inside the De Hoge Veluwe National Park. You'll need tickets to both the park and the museum. Get to the park early, to explore if you love nature. The Kröller-Müllers were art collectors in the late 1800s and 1900s. They were affluent German art collectors searching for the most important art they could find. She becomes the second largest Van Gogh collector in the world and remains so to this day with 90 paintings and 180 scetches and drawlings. Vincent is the center of her collection, and she believed he was superior to all other artists. While her enormous home is now a museum, and the yard is a sculpture garden surrounded by the national park, she holds works from Picasso, George Seurat, and his followers, Gauguin, and many, many more. She was brilliant and she is a hero of mine. She and Johanna Bonger-Van Gogh are the reason Vincent became famous and who we know today as the Dutch master post impressionist. You're a real Van Gogh fan if you know of Helene Kröller-Müller. I recommend this museum to all.

Beautiful museum with a bunch of nice art pieces. Especially the Van Gogh collection is very impressive and contains many well-known pieces. The outside area is very nice on a sunny day! There are free lockers and the staff was very friendly.

What do you look for in a museum? Obviously art, curation and a layout that allows you to enjoy the first two aspects in their entirety. The Kroller-Muller Museum balances the above 3 items perfectly allowing for serene absorption of classics alongside modern artists. To think this is basically all a private collection is envy-enducing, save for the fact it’s all been generously put on display. The staff quality must also be acknowledged, they seem to be there to support your enjoyment of each sector and room, rather than trying to police you through it. Lastly, the cafe - surprisingly good light snacks better than half the restaurants we suffered in Amsterdam. A treasure, an hour away from the capital. Well worth the drive.

The museum was great! We enjoyed the collection! The staff made the entrance a little bit hectic - many people did not understand why after we purchased the tickets to the National Park (12.50€) we have to pay another fee (12.50€) to go to the museum? With the situation like this I think it would be more helpful if there were a little more staff at the entrance to help to guide visitors and explain the rules of entrance. There was only one person selling tickets and he was not in the hurry - talked to another couple before us for a good 15 minutes. Other than that everything was good. We had some lunch at the cafe with a great view of a park. The decor at the entrance and cafe was a little stern and cold. It could have been improved. The museum store was not very interesting. But we really came just for Art, nothing else, so that part was excellent and we are happy that we made it!

A must visit museum if you are a big fan of Vincent Van Gogh. The painting collections are brilliant and beautiful garden surrounding the building is fantastic as well. Please bear in mind that you need to pay the entrance fee for the national park together with the entrance ticket to the museum.

One of the most beautiful museums I have been to so far. Amazing sculpture garden with a stunning Rhodin , nice architecture of the overall building and a truly stunning painting collection. Besides all the Van Goghs they have quite an assortement of Odilon Redon , those paintings left me deeply sad to leave the place , I would like to look at them every day. If you get the chance , go there! Also the staff and the restaurant are amazing! Kudos!

First time I went to a type of museum like this. It is like outdoor indoor house museum... Very vast beautiful garden with many unique statues embedded with several hills and a stair to heaven, also a modern house-like museum with famous paintings (majority is van gogh and his quotes, but others are also unique and cool). I recommend you travel indoor first, then come out at the garden (but check the weather and use your waterproof boot and windproof jacket), then exit at the rear (if you dont put any belongings at the lobby) so you can immediately enter other (free) museum very nearby to that exit.

One of my favorite museums in the Netherlands, not because it has the largest collection of van Gogh but because it’s surrounded by the nature. Has one of the most refreshing entrance hallways of all museums. I recommend visiting multiple times with gaps in between, and the farmer’s salad at the restaurant-cafe. If you explore the sculture garden with either a child-like curiosity or a statistician’s obsession, you will find dozens of gems by both uperstars like Rodin and less-known creators. You have to pay €12.5/person and €9/car to enter the Veluwe national park, even if you’re just going for Kröller-Müller and can enter the museum for free with the museumkaart.

A museum deserving 10 stars out of the maximum 5 allowed. A great collection of impressionists but highlights are of course the works and life story of young Vincent painting potato eaters in Holland and then older Vincent in Paris, Arles and his last most productive period when being treated in an Asylum. A breathtaking collection.

Warmly recommend for a trip with a bit of education. Admire the beauty of the contemporary art, relax in the park, have a lovely coffee... the guided tours are possible to order, too. Very informative, the guide could answer all questions and brought up a lot of interesting facts and anecdotes. Definitely worth visiting and spending (at least) a day.

All round amazing experience. Borrowed bike to cycle through parkland. Sculpture garden to die for. Beautiful building. To be that close to that many Van Gogh paintings takes your breath away. The range of art on display means around every corner is a gasp.

Totally unknown of, totally unexpected, totally awesome. A museum to visit and to enjoy. Among other must-sees, the second largest collection of Van Gogh paintings? Can't be missed! And the Garden is spectacular too. The restaurant-cafeteria inside the museum offers delicious food in a very relaxing and airy open space. Thank you!

(Translated by Google) A wonderful museum that is a little far from Amsterdam but worth the visit. You can also take pictures. I stayed at a nearby hotel and came to see it first the next morning. Van Gogh, who sees it for the first time, is powerful, delicate, lively and ephemeral. It was very nice. If you come to Holland, this is the place you want to see.

(Translated by Google) Combine parts of modern art with a good collection of Van Gogh paintings. It is worth going to visit it. Of course, in addition to the museum entrance, you have to pay another 10 euros to enter the nature reserve in which it is located, and there is no way to get to the museum if it is not by paying the entrance to the nature reserve. At least when I bought the ticket I didn't see any warning message.

Great place if you like art and nature as the museum is located in the national park "de hoge Veluwe". Note, this does mean you need to buy an entrance ticket for the national park to reach the museum plus a ticket for the museum itself.

Sometimes it is worth watching the other guests. Loved the fake tree. The view from 87m over the park is amazing. The 200+ steps a bit scary!. Seeing the van Gogh's sunny picture s make me happy. Only seen half of the garden of statues. You need more than a full day to see it all.

Liked the statue garden. Combination of nature and culture is great. Good walk around and possible to go up and down the sandy hills. For wheelchairs it's possible to stay downhill on the paved road. The large black and white emaille statue is the best of all. People enjoy it, kids rim around and invent games on it. It's bright and shiny, it lifts your heart in joy just to see the pleasure of the youngsters. Definitely worth a visit. The inner museum has a great selection of Dutch artists including Van Gogh. Maybe his best paintings are here. But the building is a bit dark and it feels narrow at places. Maybe there was just too much to see in the rooms, more than I could handle in the hour I took. So, be prepared to take your time for both the statue garden and the museum. Maybe two hours each gives you more peace and more pleasure than running around.... The garden restaurant serves good coffee and my partner enjoyed the goat cheese sandwich, see pic.

I really don’t have much to say apart from the fact that the museum and all the surrounding it’s incredible. One of the best museum I’ve been in the Netherlands. It’s in the heart of a natural reserve. This is a must see. Interesting collection: Monet, Picasso Van Gogh, Balla just to name few. The only down side I could find (if I have to find something) it’s the overall price: the museum, the access to the park for the person and also the car. It’s very expensive, but anyway worth it. After the visit at the museum I would suggest to take one of the bikes (for free) and ride around the national park.

Stunning museum with a large and fascinating sculpture garden. We visited as a small group with two toddlers and it went by perfectly. The kids had an incredible time running around the open gardens and taking in the extraordinary shapes scattered around the Veluwe's already outstanding nature. When they fell asleep we took a tour of the indoor exhibition, which really proved to be a vast and eclectic collection. Visitation can get slightly confusing due to the different entree fees required by the natural park and by the museum, but it's not too bad and in any case very much worth it.

Museum with a breathtaking collection of art, with the second largest collection in the world of Van Goghs as a beautiful centerpiece. You would like to wander around endlessly and look over and over again, but that is now more difficult with all the mandatory walking routes. The sculpture garden, better: -park, is a large walking area that could make you meditative. Walking around is much easier there. Once you have read Helene Kroller-Müller's biography, you will understand the incredible story behind this museum, at the time a private enterprise of a wealthy woman who collected all these works of art not for herself but for 'the Dutch people'. (So read! 'Eternity collected', by Eva Roovers). Daar is rondlopen veel eenvoudiger.

Museum is great. Very diverse and interesting expo's. Hence the 4 stars. The way they work together with the park they are in was very confusing. You need to get separate tickets, these you can get online beforehand . And a parkingticket septate aswell, but only once you are there. Also when we left the museum at 17:00 the security guards were not very helpful and some were unfriendly even. Also, the white bicycles, provided by the park services, were all gone. We had to walk '500meters' to the visitors centre of the park (with very poor signage), but I am sure it was more than 500meters. We had a lovely day, but I do think there are a lot of things to improve here for the visitor experience. So before you visit the Kröller Müller, make sure you read all the information on the museum, and the park it's in.

I went to this museum with little knowledge about art and just wanted to visit the national park. The van Gogh exhibition was very interesting for me though and I would definitely recommend it to anyone who might be deciding whether to go or not. Even for art amateurs it's worth a visit and can be quite interesting due to the many descriptions on the walls.

A fantastic museum, makes for a great day out. The museum has a good and diverse collection in a worthy building. It has a very large sculpture garden as well, and the entire thing is located in on of the largest national parks of the country. Museum, garden, park and a bite to eat in the restaurants in or around the park make for a great day out!

(Translated by Google) When the museums reopen, I'll be the first here again. The most beautiful van Gogh paintings and the Style are well represented. Because so little happens in the museum, it is a calm almost 19th century museum. The garden is a must. The only downside is the canteen, which has only started to smell dirtier in twenty years. Still long lines, because you have no alternative. Clean toilets, that is.

It's great to view the selection of Van Goghs over here. For the rest it is a bit of a strange collection of pieces; pinning leaves to a wall isn't art in my humble opinion. But maybe this type of art isn't something I understand....

  • 5/5 Aay B. 9 months ago on Google
Probably one of the best collections out there. The joy of watching great art up close is priceless (hmm). I do wish it was housed in an equally beautiful architectural space. That said, ideally you need three days to go through the art inside and in the outdoors. The tickets, food and pretty much everything here is super pricey and takes it out of reach of a lot of people. The entrance to the park and the parking charges add up to this. The cycle trails are fun and the landscape beautifully Dutch.

Who knew the largest collection of Van Gogh in the world ( outside the Van Gogh museum ) was in the woods in the Netherlands?? the museum is nestled in a national park, surrounded by beautiful tall trees. The collection was incredible, truly a great representation of Modern Art. And I love how it was conceived by a woman collector! I wish we had more time to explore the vast sculpture garden! But I so enjoyed the time we spent there

One of the finest collections of art you can find, surrounded by forrest and nature. This place is just perfect. Great pieces by Van Gogh, Mondriaan, Signac and Picasso. amazing art collection, both paintings (inside) and statues (garden) in the enormous hoge veluwe park that has three entrances. There are three entrances to the park, the “Otterlo” one is closest to the museum (about 2km). Entrance to the park includes the usage of the white bicycles of which there are hundreds (thousands?) scattered across the park. There are child seats for the little ones and smaller size bikes for the older children.

This was an unexpected delight on an all too short visit to Holland. It is simply one of the most wonderful museums I have ever visited. I only spent about 3 hours there, I could have spent three days easily. I would also love to spend time there in each of the seasons because of the changeability of the vast gardens. The buildings of the museum were breathtaking and the extent of their collection, but the garden and surrounding forest with its sculptures and installations was equally wonderful. If you love painting and sculpture, go out of your way to see this place and give yourself plenty of time.

  • 5/5 Mascha K. 6 months ago on Google
Wonderful to cycle and walk through the plains, dunes and forests - just borrow one of the white bicycles with child seat for your child or a bag you can conveniently clip in. Have lunch at the visitor center or in one of the nearby picturesque towns. Visit the museum and its sculpture garden. Excellent Van Gogh paintings and some modern art exhibitions and more. The museum and sculpture garden are free with Museumkaart. The national park Hoge Veluwe is accessible with tickets either with or without a car (the bicycles are available for pick up in multiple areas). It’s also possible to rent bikes with gears and more, but the white ones are just right for sightseeing.

The permanent exhibition is really impressive, but I wasn’t a big fan of the temporary exhibition. You need to pay both an entrance fee to the park where the museum is located and to the museum itself. I thought the audio guide was a nice addition to the permanent exhibition.
