A great experience to have. 45 minutes bus ride away from Amsterdam this is a beautiful place to visit. Mills close before 5pm so if you want to go inside the Mills then best is to reach there before 3-4pm.

Such a wonderful experience. I know I was on a tour bus but if you dont have time to explore all of the Netherlands this little slice of heaven will do. Lots of food options to try and taste. They have a place for giant stoopwaffles, and hot chocolate. another area for regional cheeses, among other tasty delights. There is an area for souvenirs. Lots of photo ops available. And farm animals are around to make you happier as well. If you are limited come here and see this beautiful place.

One of my favorite places in Netherlands. Excellent views. It's got a path for pedestrians and for bikes. Be careful not to cross the bike one without looking both ways. Ideal for a family or romantic picnic. Hot chocolate and cheese are typically had here. Remember the Mills, so be prepared for the winds.

Don't skip out on this museum at the end of the walk past all the windmills, it's the best part! All about windmills and their construction and types, and the people who worked them. You'll find out the differences in windmill exterior construction, as well as how internally they were changed up to saw wood, crush spices, and make paper. Plus lots of acknowledging the tough life and history of it.

Great place to visit for a short break from the Amsterdam. Very charming. The village itself is really nice, windmills are an extra nice touch in the scenery. You can buy a chocolate drink made from coco that is milled in the windmill. You can take a walk around the village but it is very small so it will be a short walk.

This is a very interesting place to visit. There are a few working windmills on the site where you can learn a lot about the history and different ways they are used for. Don't miss the opportunity to taste some of the awesome baked goods there as well.

Such and awesome experience here! We had a lovely day. Beautifull landscape 🥰 We visit the mills, and the people were very helpfull with us. We went in a week day so we had the people free to give us all the explainations that we wanted :) Good to know about the history of this small but very beautifull village 💌

A pleasant and authentic historical museum presenting the tradition of processing raw materials with windmills. A newly built interactive and modern pavilion with projections is part of this open-air museum. A big plus for me was the possibility to see the mechanism of the machines from the inside.

You can't go to Holland without going to see a windmill. A nice little history lesson in each of the different windmills & museums. I suggest purchasing the Zaanse schans card to save a little money as its €5 entry in to each of these. Be prepared for some walking and a bit of wind but we'll worth a visit.

Crowded as it was high season and very touristic. But great way to explore the different types of windmills the Dutch had in the past. And score some nice souvenirs or a good cheeses in the shops. Even without entering the mills it's already nice to walk around and enjoy the views.

A stone's throw from Edam, this gem of a place is a tourist delight. Offering stunning views of several fully operational traditional windmills, you can choose to visit the many sights on offer - historic museum, windmill interiors, typical Dutch wares (Delft pottery for example). An absolute must see.

Zaanse chans wind mill tours is the best idea if you are nearby Amsterdam. Green fields with historic whopping windmills and windmill museums that explain the rich Dutch heritage to the last detail.

Compared to what you get for the same price at the windmills nearby, the ticket price here isn't worth the money. If you're interested in seeing how the two types of windmills work and see it in action, you're better off buying the tickets at those windmills nearby. The only reason you might want to visit this museum is if you want to know more about the history of windmills and some more theoretical concepts around windmills which you might not get by simply visiting the windmills themselves. There are no toilets here.

Fall in Love with the picturesque village. If you are in Amsterdam, find 2 hours time from your busy itinerary to visit Zaanse Schans. You can catch a metro from Amsterdam Centraal station to Zaandijk station, followed by a 10 mins walk to reach this beautiful village. It's worth every effort. Recommend a must visit to this place.

Nice working windmill area on river side, some of them since 2015, some back to 1766. Renting a bike is recommended for the railway to the windmills part, but not necessary. Be sure to visit the cheese factory museum: we entered just to have a peek, definitely to buy nothing. We ended up tasting 20+ cheese types and buying 3 😁

A good overview of the industrial history of this area (and there’s windmills!!). The museum provides discount parking (€7.50) and you can get a discount card for all of the other museums/exhibits in the area. We did not see any mice and they weren’t wearing clogs. Maybe after a couple of brownies in Amsterdam 😬

This highly popular tourist destination in the Netherlands has a lot to offer with one of the highlights is to visit the original windmills. The scenic view where the iconic windmills are located is truly mesmerizing and it is one of the best spots for photography! There are over 1000 windmills in Holland and some of the windmills are still in operation and being used for drainage.

(Translated by Google) Because of corona a very special experience for us, but a drama for the Zaanse Schans. There was only a handful of visitors, so we could look around at ease, didn't have to wait for anything. We started with the Zaanse Schans museum, where, among other things, part of the production line of the former Verkade factory is in operation. Then we ended up in the clog museum and shop, the oldest AH turned out to be closed, but we got a private tour in the adjacent clock museum. In the Cacao store we were offered a presentation, super fun. Then to the paint mill De Kat, and saw mill Het Jonge Schaap, where we could talk extensively with the miller because there was no one else there. At the end a newly opened museum. Here we could unexpectedly get a cup of coffee from a machine and have a drink while sitting (of course we had taken into account that the catering industry is closed due to corona). On the way back we went to the cheese farm, where you could taste all the cheeses you wanted, as well as chocolate. The last shops were already closed, closed earlier, when we got back there, understandable. Even the parking attendants had already gone home. Two days after our visit, museums had to close again, but it hardly makes any difference to the Zaanse Schans, because I think it is not possible to stay open for less than 20 guests a day. Definitely worth taking a look around here, as soon as the weather is possible.

A perfect way to really understand everything you see on the spot - 13 Windmills partly Zaanse Schans and more. This place tells the story of the entrepreneurial DNA of the Zaanstreek. Moreover, the organisation plans to combine the museum and World of Windmills heritage experience at the same spot in 2019. Very exiting as windmills are the very heart of Zaanstreek and icon of the Netherlands!
