The food is enjoyable, but the experience in general is less satisfying. This restaurant is very popular, if you have not made a reservation ahead then you need to wait quite long to secure a spot. There were only two waitresses taking care of the whole restaurant when we had our dinner there. So it took us really long to get the menu and order. Seeing them running between kitchen and tables is already making us feeling exhausted. Sincerely suggest the restaurant owner to hire more staffs to offer customers a better experience.

We order: Starter, stew pork sandwich which was very delicious but a bit too light on salidity. I gave it 8.5 points. Main court: Bacalao and mashed potatos. Presentation look very good with big chunk of bacalao. Which we both really like it at first but it was too salty. I hope the chef cut down table salt to 30% this dish would be perfect delicious. Mixed meats stew with bean: good itention but too salty. There is no sweetness i. This dish. Very disappointed. Enviroment: the restaurant is very beautiful woth traditional Portuhese decoration. Very nice.

Recommend this place for the food and service. The staff is really nice and try their best with full house. The food is top, we had sardines and octopus. Fresh ingredients and delicious dishes.

Amazing Portuguese experience in Amsterdam. Food in this place is simply amazing, from the starters to the mains. The roasted pig was delicious, so nice, and so big! Starters instead are not so abundant, but delicious. Good wine, we got the house green one, possibly a bit overpriced considering it is served in a pitcher. Friendly stuff, service a bit slow in our case at the beginning.

Fantastic place! The only word I have for this place is “perfect.” Perfect food, perfect sangria, nice atmosphere and the service is fast. Everyone who worked there was so very kind to us. We tried various different dishes and all of them were just excellent. Can’t wait to come back to this restaurant Thank you very much!!

We had a positive and enjoyable dinner time at Portugalia Tasca. The staff attending our table was friendly and helpful. His recommendation of the grilled fish with baby potatoes was spot on. We also ordered squid with rice (looked like risotto but the name on the menu was different) and it was really tasty and nicely cooked. I also recommend the simple cornbread with olives and beans to start with.

I loved having dinner there! The place is small but it brings that "homemade food" feeling, very comforting. The staff is friendly, helpful, and laid-back, the food is delicious and I loved the amount of appetizers that they have, you can really have a full dinner only with those. The main dishes were tasty and the amount of food is perfect. Overall I loved having dinner there and I will for sure return.

Nice place with good quality food. I appreciated a lot the octopus, that was nicely cooked and seasoned. Tables were a bit small (with starters it becomes a challenge to keep everything on the table), but that also depends on the fact that the place itself is not very big.

Great spot for Portuguese food in Amsterdam. To start, we ordered the pumpkin pastries and the grilled sardines. The pumpkin pastry was rally good and the grilled sardines was flavourful. However, the bread that came with the sardines was a bit tough and chewy. The two mains that we ordered, which were the oven-grilled octopus and the stewed goatling were fantastic. Both came out super tender, rich with flavour and enjoyable to eat (the octopus was our favourite). Decent gin and tonic too. Overall, we’re really happy with the food at Port Galia Tasca in Amsterdam and despite the minor issue with the chewy bread at the start, I’d still recommend this restaurant.

First of all the place is very tasty with really big portions. If you look at the place as a restaurant, then they are big even for the precise of the place. Dinner of 2 (starters, vine, drinks, main, desert) - 86 euro. The place is very crowded, so do not forget to book a table in advance! Unfortunately, due to big about of people in the friday evening - hard to hear the music and fully enjoy the atmosphere. So try to come in the midday. You van find vegan and vegetarian options of food! Stuff is very welcome, and you can face a smile and support every Portuguese phrase you try to say😅 If possible try to go with a Portuguese friend, so you can understand more in the things around As a result: Está bom como o caralho🤌

Great dishes! Nice octopus! Only the dessert is cold. Price is okay 35euro pp. The door is at the side, just like house door.

Incredible. The chicken is fantastic, as well as the fried squid and shrimp (comes in shell). The fish is also delicious! There’s also a beautiful cat walking around. Great atmosphere and service

Foods are nice. We ordered two main dishes (today's special offer of steak and octopus) and 3 starters (fried squid, sardines and the tenderloin bread) and 2 drinks. (€90 in total) I can recommend everything but personally think the sardines can still be improved. The services are also perfect, the waiters are really helpful and enthusiastic. A very nice meal to end the year.

Authentic Portuguese food. The staff is super kind and helpful. I’be tried their chicken and some of their fish and both were amazing but you can’t miss their banana tart!

Without a doubt, the best Portuguese chicken I have had, and that includes Portugal as well. Special thanks goes to the lovey young lady Luana that had to put up with my drunken Aussie companion, but it was great banter and great service on top of a top random night. Can’t wait to come back here!!!

Wonderful meal and experience! Asked the server for a recommendation and was very pleased. We sat outside and highly recommend. Got the octopus rice and pork/potatoes/clams.

The food was typically Portuguese: fish, octopus, potatoes, and a bit of greens. The desserts were delicious, and the waiters very friendly. As we're used to it from all our visits to Portugal over the last ten years. Don't miss out!

A popular Portuguese restaurant near the city center. Overall food is good but not memorable and the price is slightly high in terms of the portion.

The bartender at our hotel bar recommended this place, so we made some reservations. The staff and the food were so much better than we could hope for! Very authentic food, staff were incredibly kind and helpful. Yes, it's a small place so large parties could be an issue but it's worth it. Make reservations though, they're busy all night!

A very Portuguese warm ambiance at the heart of Amsterdam with an acceptable sort of good quality wine and food. Starters are exciting and look very like local ones. Crew are cool and well-serving. Creme caramel and espresso martini was super!

This is a really cute place! It’s well decorated inside, people were very nice and welcoming. The food was tasty as well, we tried a ‘bizarre’ dish - blood sausage and it turned out to be surprisingly good. I would love to revisit again to try more small dishes and get the piri piri chicken and sangria again.

The place has nice atmosphere and service, but the food quality is not good. For the price we paid. We had the rissois de camarois (pawn pastries) and the inside was a bit frozen. We had to send them back. We also had the goat stew and the bacalhau (cod fish); these were a bit better, but still less tasty than the food you find in Portugal and slightly overpriced for Amsterdam.

A must try restaurant for yes Portuguese and also for the ones who wanna try different cuisine. The best part is they have vegetarian version of nearly all popular dishes. Must try is — “sopa de caldo verde” - it’s an authentic soup — Pastel de nata- the famous Portuguese dessert

A very nice place, with good Portuguese food. And the house white wine was pretty good, too.

It was the first time I tried Portuguese food. If all food in Portugal is like in this restaurant than I'm very disappointed. I've heard so many positive reviews, but it is so simple and regular I can't describe. So, just okayinsh, nothing special at all.

Definitely recommend their chicken—deliciously flavored. Their red wine, per glass, is also an excellent choice.

Great place in Rembrandtplein to have bacalhau and pastel de nata. The place is small so it can get busy quite quickly. Although the staff is nice and patient. We were a group of 6 people. I had the bacalhau à Brás, which was good and my husband had a bacalhau à lagareiro which is super well done. In addition, I had a “to die for” pastel de nata for dessert.

An unbeatable site. The care of the waitresses exquisite. Let yourself be surprised by the assortment of small dishes.

We stumbled upon this gem by accident and it was an absolute treat. We asked the waitress to choose a selection of her favourite small dishes because everything on the menu sounded delicious and we couldn't decide for ourselves. It did not disappoint. Great service and lovely food!

We had a great night! The sangria was amazing super tasty. Clams were good all around but the sauce could be more tasty, it was liquidy. Chicken & octopus were also good. Special mention for the fries - delicious 🤤 Extremely friendly staff !!!

We really liked the green veggie soup, liked the steak sandwich, and were not amazed by the cod (too much fries, too little cod). Nevertheless this is a great place and if you read the comments you can already see a lot of recommendations. I think it’s worth going for many “starters” so you can try more things.

Even tho the restaurant was packed, they served food not as slow as expected. We ordered chicken, ribeye and piglet, they were all amazing! The pudding had a strong egg/milk flavor, which was good. Only the sangria was a little bit disappointed.

Lovely Portuguese place with Portuguese dishes like cod fish , marisco, lamb, sardines, pastel de nate.. you can find Portuguese wine and beer (super bock 😍) stuff is really nice & friendly. Food is amazing . I am coming back ! Thanks 🙏 really nice atmosphere in the restaurant.

It is not a good representation of Portuguese food. The quality of the ingredients is below average and not fresh. Overall, the dishes are not well made and lack flavour. Prices are also quite expensive taking in consideration the portions.

  • 4/5 Laura I. 2 years ago on Google
Food is great, tasty, diverse, gigantic portions, definitely recommend it but the service is suuuuper slow, like 1 hour wait for your food. They were super busy, all tables full but still maybe they would benefit if they hired more staff. Other than that, everything is great in this place!

Absolutely loved the grilled fish, flavorful and perfectly cooked. The cozy ambiance with a Portugal vibe added to the charm. Don't miss out on the Pastel de Nata. This place it's a must-try if you find yourself in the area!

👍👍 The perfect place to enjoy high-quality seafood at a reasonable price. Was surprised to see this large restaurant buzzing at 5pm (both inside and outside!) but after seeing the fresh fish on display and trying the sashimi which just melts in the mouth I understood why.
