Okay, we're getting to that place where splurging on a private tour is becoming less of a luxury and more of a necessary avenue to understanding where we are. Think of the resources that go into getting "somewhere"? (I did the research and this company was my first choice.) And so, we booked a four-hour private city tour with Joy Ride: Our guide Antoine did not disappoint, and we came away with much to think about. Not to mention enhancing our ability to tool around the grachts and straats of this beautiful and hospitable city on two wheels. Don't ask me how he knows so much and speaks so well. Well worth it! Joy Ride is easy to communicate with, responsive, and, well, just perfect.

A definite 5 star review. We joined our tour guide, Antoine, in mid-October 2018 for the countryside tour including an enjoyable visit to a cheese and clog making farm. There were only 3 of us on this particular tour (they have a maximum number of 15) so it was really personal and very informative. We felt very safe when amongst the hectic cyclists and traffic in the town but were soon out in the quieter countryside. I would highly recommend these cycling tours to anyone visiting Amsterdam. Recently went on the 'Windmill, Cheese & Clogs Tour in the Dutch Countryside' tour. It was pretty fantastic and the people were very cool. The guide was great, Sean. He's lived all over the world and really knew his stuff. We learned a great deal and his ways of relating historical facts and concepts was quite excellent. We cycled through some really beautiful parks and along various canals on our way outside the city. The countryside quickly opened up and we were in a beautiful rural setting with fields and low dikes and polders and such. Really quite picturesque. We stopped at a working dairy, cheese-making and clog-making place (1 of only 3 places in the Netherlands that still makes clogs by hand). They had very nice painted clogs; very traditional. But, the ones that really caught my eye were hand-carved wedding clogs. Really beautiful. We were able to taste their cheeses: young, garlic, aged, and smoke. All Gouda. All delic. And, even though it was torrential down-pouring just 25 miles south of us, we weren't rained on for the entire tour. Fantastic tour. Great bikes, and super comfortable seats. Excellent tour company, and such incredibly reasonable prices!

This was the highlight of our trip to Amsterdam in April 2018. Our tour guide, Antoine, was very personable and knowledgeable. We took the country tour which was a refreshing change from the hustle & bustle of downtown Amsterdam. After reading reviews of the many bike tour companies we decided on the countryside tour with Joy Ride. We could not have made a better choice. Our guide, Antoine, was very friendly and knowledgeable about the sights and history of Amsterdam. They have very nice sturdy bikes and the pace of the trip was very relaxed. This is a must do trip when visiting Amsterdam, we saw and learned many things during our amazing day with them. I highly recommend them!

My wife and I took Joy Rides Windmills & Cheesefarm tour recently on our trip to Amsterdam. We were completely blown away by the quality of the tour. Before the tour we were both extremely nervous about our ability to handle the hectic Amsterdam bike trails. Our instructor made us feel completely confident in how to conduct ourselves and navigate the bike paths. The tour took us through the streets/parks/house boat district/country and a dairy farm. While the scenery was amazing and we got to experience a lot of what the country had to offer, what really made the tour was our guides knowledge. What we enjoyed most was his willingness to answer any questions we had. While he taught us a lot of historical information he also spoke about the culture and society of the Netherlands. He answered any questions we had on any subject, kept everyone included despite a large group size and was a blast to spend the afternoon following around! We would recommend Joy Ride Tours to anyone looking the learn/explore Amsterdam!

We had a wonderful time today with Antoine! The bikes were so comfortable we felt like we were riding on recliners!! We had spent yesterday riding rentals from hotel and they were like night and day experience. The tour covered so much ground but had many stops where Antoine gave us so much history of the area that it felt like a very short ride. Mostly flat and just enough traffic in the city to be exciting. The countryside was beautiful and the farmer was my husbands souls mate a grumpy old government hater. Haha. To top it off Antoine recommended his personal favorite restaurant for dinner Cafe de Klos - it was amazing. Thanks for a perfect last day in town!

We had an excellent tour with Melissa! She was very knowledgeable about Amsterdam history as well as how to negotiate bikers, pedestrians and motorized vehicles. Road work? No problem! She did a great job showing us great sites and was very flexible and able to show us and different sites after we, unexpectedly, got to town early and had been to see many places earlier than our bike tour. We loved all of the interesting stories she had to share!
