If you like small stalls selling hard to find books or home made artisan crafts then you'll like this. Its in a large square just iff if the main drag. There's lots of people here but its relatively peaceful. You really clise to a lot of good eats and there's a herring stand just off of the square. You have to suffer a little through cigarette smells and the ever present stench of pot that seems to blanket Amsterdam. But you get used to it.

If you are visiting attractions like Begijnhof and Amstedam Museum on a Sunday, you might want to check out the open art market held at Spuiplein, just to the south of Begignhof. From 10am to 6pm local artists setup stalls and display paintings, drawings, handmade jewellery and other artistic items for purchase. It seems stalls are manned by the artists themselves and they seemed happy to discuss works with visitors. During my visit, there were some nice works on display, making this a nice potential stop even if you are only interested in browsing. Must have been 20-25 stalls so perhaps allow for 20-30 minutes browsing time depending on what type art you like. The art market at Spui is a nice break from normal sightseeing for those who plan to be in the area on Sundays.

There were very nice vintage art prints, old books, postcards and magnets. I went there on Friday. The art prints on the stands were printed. I was expecting more special hand-drawn things before going. So, keep this in mind, art print prices vary depending on size, I think the smallest size was around 5 €. Most of them were 10-15€, magnets were 1.5€. Magnets are cheaper than most tourist places, but they are not like Dutch magnets, they are more old style.

This is a top quality market with unique offerings by skilled and experienced artists. I particularly admire the whimsical creativity of Erna Kuik’s Lino cuts, collages and photomontages to keep or give as gifts. Don’t miss it if you’re interested in art and artists!

It was nice, but on the small side. I was expecting a more extensive art fair. It is held weekly, and maybe I was on an off week, but I thought it was quite small. I came looking to buy something for a specific wall - not just browsing, and did not find much selection.

Great Amsterdam art market, every week different artists, and the same variety in art forms. A real must see if you love art.

I bought some really nice art here from a lovely artists. Its fun to just walk through and see what local artists sell and create. Had some nice chats with some of them. Of course, every art is different and sometimes there are days where you cant identify with any of the art and other days there is something perfectly for you! Close to Waterstones and ABC so going to the bookstore afterwards is also really fun. I come here every couple weeks hoping to find something nice. Enjoy this place.

The Sunday's art fair on the Amsterdam Spuiplein ("Art Spuiplein") really is a joy when strolling through the city center. It is highly diverse and dynamic, with the artists themselves showing today's endless and unexpected possibilities of art in 2D and 3D. One can find works of art produced by very modern as well as by skilled, traditional techniques. I came across high quality and enjoyed talking with the artists (which hardly occurs in galleries). And each Sunday it varies. A big recommendation!
