Location wise - super central, otherwise - just okay. Getting here from the airport is very convenient, the Rokin metro station is right in front of the hotel entrance. Amsterdam Central station is maybe 20min walk away or you can hop on to the Tram. Check-in and out was very straight forward. The staff were kind and friendly. Tourist tax can be paid to them at the counter. The room I was given was on the 3rd floor and it was difficult to get to with the narrow stairway and stairs themselves. Hope you don't end up here with heavy trolley bags. I am not based in Amsterdam but I heard that this is to be expected since many buildings are designed this way. The room itself was okay (for 1person). The bathroom was clean and well maintained, some fixtures were old. It was very cold inside the room as the weather outside was mostly gloom & rain (I visited in Nov). The tap water is good to drink. It would have been nice to have the TV working and maybe a better bed as the one I got was too soft, nor so comfortable for my usage. It was slightly difficult to fall asleep at night since I could clearly hear the trams stopping and passing by, people in the alleyway below and the rain patters were quite loud given that I was on the topmost floor. It only bothered me on the 1st day (my stay was during the weekdays). Overall my stay was okay, I would definitely recommend it for a central location with easy access to the touristy things in Amsterdam, closeness to the Central station, restaurants and so on. I didn't feel unsafe at any point. It would be nice to have a more comfortable rooms for the price.

The only good thing about this hotel is the location. We arrived at a 5PM on a weekday, not too late to check in, and the door was locked, could not reach anyone, were on the street with our suitcases for over 25 minutes till we were finally able to reach someone on the phone. The room was dirty and there was mold on the windows. We had to keep the window open the entire time because of the mold smell. I got bed bug bites while we were there. Will never stay there again and I hope no one else does. Worth paying a bit more for a room with no bed bugs and mold.

More of an adult hostel than a hotel. Rooms are ok - no view, steep stairs and basic furnishings but stayed warm. Biggest problems are the noise and the clientele. Impossible to get a full nights sleep as so many people coming and going through the night (we didn’t manage to sleep the entire night during our four night stay here). The doors all slam and the walls are thin so you can hear everything! Also you get a lot of drunks/smokers staying here so it’s not very family friendly - we found drunks in the hallways most nights. No refunds were given for complaints. I will not stay here again.

The hotel is in a great location, close to everything downtown, to transportation and the people at reception were very kind. Considerations: + No Elevator and the reception is in the second floor plus another 2 floors of rooms which could be a problem for some one with a lot of luggage or not able to walk a lot of stairs. + Our room didn't have a view of the street, just the wall of the next building. + No AC, which was not a problem as the weather was really nice, but be careful to when there is a heat wave.

Terrible hotel, bad service. Dirty bedding, peeling paint. A window that almost took my hand off, dangerous and carved wooden beams. And this is just the beginning I do not recommend this hotel it is a danger. And it should be closed.

Hotel Pagi is very basic but it is spotlessly clean, the staff are so friendly and helpful and the location is second to none. You are right in the centre of everything but it is not noisy. The beds were very narrow so it was difficult to stay on them without sliding off in your sleep. If you are disabled it would not suit, as you have to walk up two to three narrow flights of stairs - no elevator .

Location 10/10!! Heart of the city center, 10 min walk from Amsterdam central station and right outside rokin metro station. Right opposite the canal. Perfect for a short stay! Very friendly staff. Very accommodating. Gave me a twin room for the price of a single room for 1 night stay to accommodate my tight budget during my layover. Thank you to the lovely receptionist who helped me <3 The only negative was the Cleanliess. Dirty stained sheets, poor quality bedding. I just expected alot more cleanliness for a hotel that charges $100 per night. Suggestion: Coffee was free but not everyone drinks coffee so please add teabags for tea lovers. TY

The location is excellent, everywhere was a short walk away. The hotel has a lot of stairs. Small room and the beds are very narrow. The staff was excellent, including clean rooms.

This is not a hotel - more like an adult hostel. Sewage stench in bathroom (tiny tiny bathroom), black mold on ceiling, puke stains on curtains, no water pressure in shower - had to rinse my hair in the sink - absolutely shocking place. No elevator and extremely steep stairs. Zero service or offer of assistance, hospitality was nonexistent. Saying this is a hotel is an actual joke. It should honestly not even be in business. I would have left if I could have been refunded for the nights unused. I hate to write negative reviews but if you’re looking to stay in Amsterdam, it’s such an amazing city with plenty of accom options - look anywhere else.

For the price bracket, location and quality, I'm convinced hotel pagi is the best hotel in Amsterdam. The rooms were rather compact, and our shower did leak a lot of water into the wider bathroom, but everything was done to a good quality standard and the rooms felt modern and clean. The location was awesome, being right next to the metro and in the heart of the city. Heaps of great eating options nearby, and all the tourist highlights of Amsterdam (which are well spread across a sprawling city!) were easily within a 15-20 min walk of the hotel - North, South, East or West. Honestly pretty perfect. One extra boon I wasn't aware of on booking was the free self service teas and coffee machine accessible at any time by the front desk. Ideal when I like to wake up with a coffee! We stayed for 3 nights, which I think was just about right with the size of the space we had. You really need to live out of your suitcase, and have it closed up most of the time to be able to move around properly - so I think longer than our stay would have proven less manageable. I did a lot of searching ahead of our stay, and I'm quite certain hotel pagi offers the best accomodation for a trade off between price point, location, and quality of lodging (where someone needs someplace modern and clean like us). I'd definitely reccomend for anyone else interested in those 3 criteria.

The location is perfect. In the middle of Amsterdam. We stayed 3 nights in August 2020. The host members were very friendly and helpful. We even got an umbrella (was a rainy day and we didnt have umbrella). The room was small which was not a big deal for us, because we were in the town mostly but there was no cabinet to store our clothes and the window was opening to the firewall.

The staffs were nice but there is no elevator which was pretty hard for us to get through with quite big luggages and the rooms don’t look like the photos.. very small and lack of utilities. the bathroom was the nicest part of the room. Location wise, it’s very convenient. Close to the city and trams

Perfect Hotel for me! Small room, everything was very clean and i love the tiny bathroom! The shower was absolutely amazing! Wlan was perfect! I really enjoyed my stay there! The staff was always very nice and helpful! I will definitely stay there again! Free coffee in the morning! If you want a luxury experience then stay at the 4 seasons (which you may can’t afford when you are reading this 😂 calm down, me neither)

Little hotel that's in a great location. Rooms were cute, small, but I'm not sure what more you'd expect at a 2 star. Stairs are steep, but so are all the stairs in Holland so that's not a valid complaint. Comfortable sleeps, shower was good, all around a nice stay

We recently stayed at this hotel due to its location. We stayed in a 3 person room and that is the largest room they have. *** They do not have a lift and the staircase is very narrow and steep. It was a bit tricky to bring up our luggage. Room was spacious for Amsterdam standards, washroom was clean, no air conditioning but there was a fan. The window in the room can open, which helped because the room got a bit warm. At nighttime, it was a bit noisy to keep the window open. Customer service was great, we arrived early and they were able to clean our room first to let us check in. They have a coffee machine beside the front desk but it was broken when we were there. Overall, the room was decent but the cons were not having an elevator, not having a/c and the noise at night through the window made it hard to sleep or too hot to sleep.

Strategically located,. Not elderly friendly since there is no elevator & stairs is steep...but most buildings in Amsterdam are with old structures

Several other reviews mention the hotel's terrible cancelation policy, but I was foolish enough to think that it was limited to a once-in-a-lifetime pandemic. Unfortunately, when I broke my leg and needed surgery and wasn't able to travel, they were still unsympathetic and refused to refund me. They are just as bad in the post-COVID era. I can only imagine how poor the service would have been had I actually gone through with the trip. Hope they enjoy the money that could have been put towards medical bills. Completely heartless.

Not the nicest of hotels but fair enough. A steep staircase meets you inside the door so be prepared. The rooms are ok with the bathroom beeing slightly better than the room itself. But location is key here. Right on Rokin witch is a big main street south of Dam with both Tram line and Metro right outside the door. Take tram line 4,14 or 24 from the Amsterdam Centraal. As good a location you get in Amsterdam for all the major attractions and places to go and see in the city center.

The hotel would give us much nicer experience but we were so cold in our room. No heating in bathroom, room has one radiator that could not heat a eoom with noninsulation and windows that blow wind from all sides. After asking the reception about the issue, the resoonse was it is an old building. But heating should not even be a question in winter!!

The hotel is in an excellent location, right in the city center, close to the main square and shops. However, we booked a room for three people but got a very small room, with three beds crowded together with no space for luggage. Also the bathroom was very small. Moreover, the sheets on the beds did not seem to have been changed and we found hairs that were not ours on the sheets. In addition, the walls were also dirty and the heating did not work properly. After contacting the reception staff, they moved us to another room, but it was also very small and not suitable for 3 people as well as the accompanying luggage. In conclusion, the rooms are very small, there are many stairs without an elevator, so the hotel is not accessible to people with mobility impairments, very minimal in terms of the room's contents and not adapted to the contents of more than 2 people, and that too is in doubt. On the other hand, the location is excellent and the staff is attentive and tries to help as much as possible.

We had a great 3-night stay at Hotel Pagi. Our room was clean and had a great view over Rokin; it was great for people watching! The gentleman on reception was always helpful and welcoming. It’s a budget hotel: have realistic expectations and you’ll be happy. The location is fantastic and all major sites are within walking distance.

DO NOT BOOK TO STAY HERE. I had seen previous reviews concerning the non-refundable policy but was naive enough to think this wouldn't impact me. Unfortunately, the Eurostar train strikes in the Netherlands meant that my train was cancelled 2 days before our expected arrival. I tried all means of contacting the hotel, but never heard anything back from my email and my calls were always declined and never answered. The lack of communication is appalling. I requested a change of booking dates to another week, but was just told that these dates weren't available and I was still expected on the original day. Obviously, this is not possible as no Eurostar trains were running at all on this day. No other help was offered, and I've still not heard back from the hotel directly. DO NOT FALL FOR THE PRICE AND LOCATION - Pick another hotel that actually bothers to respond and offer credit/ exchange of dates.

This place is disgusting… black mould in the bathroom and we were placed in a room with exposed electrical wiring at the e head of the wire frame bed and when complained they offered to cover it with masking tape! And when we were offered a new room it was literally a closet no windows no ventilation. So we left and they are charging us for our full trip. What a horrible first impression of Amsterdam. Do not book this hotel!
