I went to this HEMA recently and it was very nice and the self-checkout was better managed. The staff was more attentive and lines were minimal. Things have improved here and the new layout is nice as well. I do wish they had a better queuing system for the check-out lanes. I love their candle selection and prices - especially the tea candles. Great prices!

Today at 12:45 I went to pick up a DHL package and I received demeaning personal attention. It has been a horrible situation. The person who was handling the delivery on the DHL side has addressed me in a rude tone. She has started to speak to me in Dutch and unfortunately I don't speak it. I told her sorry I don't speak Dutch and she continued to speak Dutch in a very rude and rude way. They should have more qualified people in customer service. Amsterdam is a multicultural city. I don't demand that people speak English but if you don't speak it there is no need to be rude. I live in the neighborhood but of course after this experience that borders on racism, I will not buy in this establishment again. a pity

A Dutch phenomenon. You'd think a collection from baby clothes to stationery, from food to paint and from teapots to wine does not make sense, but it does. The company is known for its Dutch-minimalist design for many of its products, and the good quality at a low price. If you are into it, have yourself a half rookworst (smoked sausage) warm out of hand. It's so yum (even if you feel a bit guilty afterwards).

It’s okay, but kitchen utensils are of poor quality. The store is small and a bit unorganized. Came here hoping to get a variety of things but only left with towels that we’d use for our guests. Didn’t have basic home things like a measuring tape

Please make all the employees who handle food touch it with gloves or using a paper towel because every time I am ordering a hot dog or a pastry they always grab it with their bare hands. It is unhygienic and disgusting. I understand and knew that gloves can be more unhygienic in some cases, however this is only true if the employee WASHES THEIR HANDS REGULARLY. I have seen your employees touch their phones, clothes, hair, and cash and then touch food without washing their hands. At least a paper towel between their hands and the food would be the bare minimum since hand washing seems to not be a requirement.

A big HEMA store offering most of their assortment. Spacious, well organized and easy to find your way around. The staff is always around an isle, approachable and helpful. I have never experiences a long wait nor a messy view.

Only just about slightly more upmarket from a Woolworth. A sort-of dept.store for absolute emergencies but not much good for anything other than that. Receiving a gift from this place would be considered an insult. They USED to do plain but solid and stable basics, but have been down-graded to selling the usual run-of-the-mill highstreet tat.

Selection is ok, only one floor, the staff does not seem happy or helpful at all.

Quite a good selection of household items and food at reasonable prices. Has almost everything I need. Too bad it's not a big one that also has cafe with food, but good enough if you needed clothes, bread, small food items, stationery, toiletries and cute little things.

Love this Hema. Great little food section in the back, used to live around the corner and miss it. Mind you don’t miss the noise of the delivery trucks that weee there from 6am 😝. You can find anything you’re looking for here!

Rude staff. They do not seem to be happy to work or that anybody is there. They are rude to people that do not speak Dutch. Very disappointed since HEMA usually has polite staff. VERY RUDE OLD SHORT LADY!!

👍👍 Great shop, they've got everyday household items, clothes, make-up, food, two cafes, toilets (€ 0,40 cent), stuff for bikes, beds, you name it. They'll help you out and prices are good, good quality too. Recommend it! It's a chain all over the Netherlands but this is a big shop of theirs.
