Wasn’t that bad, but the overall aftertaste was that it’s quite a bit expensive given what it is. Ambiance was ok, service was just ok, dishes were fine. Tempura was not good enough though, with hardly any batter and just 6 small pieces of vegetables for €17, tonkatsu is not served with rice despite it being €16 and not very large or juicy either. Dorayaki was fine too, but not exceptional or special in any way. We were not blown away at all like many others were, judging by the reviews which may be why we set our expectations too high.

Good restaurant but prices are exaggerated on some dishes. Example with the 8 salmon makis... For 18 euros.! Never saw such a price even in very high end Japanese restaurants in Paris...

Lovely, cozy Japanese whisky bar with food for accompaniment. There are vegan options as well as a lunch menu. The dinner menu is a sharing menu. The fried eggplant (nasu dengaku) was the most memorable dish of the place.

Super authentic and fresh Japanese food! I also very like the decoration. It’s classy but not too much! One of the best sashimi, edamame and tempura I’ve had in town! Remember to make reservations.

A bit too expansive for the amount of food we got and I wasn’t amazed of the quality. The price / quality rate was below our expectations. The eel (paling) was too small, you can see it on the pictures below (compare it with the chopsticks). Honestly, I think there are better options around. The fried tofu was tasty, but 8 euro is just too expansive.

I really like the place. It is really necessary to make reservations beforehand. Great selection of Sake. Food was fresh and very tasty reminding me of Japan. The menu is not that big but that is a good sign. The salmon was delicious. And nothing beats a fresh Asahi draft.

Amazing spot in the city! Food was so fresh and quality, offering a variety of Japanese dishes. The service was top and the ambience was just right. Went there with a friend and we ordered the sashimi platter (super fire), chicken karage (amazing), tuna hand roll (fire), spicy octopus (good), duck (don’t order, too chewy), miso aubergine (great), sake (fire), matcha tiramisu (good). Overall, highly recommend and the photos in the reviews don’t do this place justice.

I had high expectations for the food before I went there but it turned out to be just okay. We tried several dishes, e.g. tonkatsu, eel, fried chicken and mixed sashimi, nothing was really really good however the price was relatively high. I think it is a nice place to go for drinks and the food is more like ‘side dishes’ for your drinks. People were really nice though, the yuzu cocktail was good!

Really fabulous and cozy Japanese restaurant situated in the heart of Amsterdam. Love their rolls here and their sashimi, their salmon might be one of the good ones you find in the city. Also try their karaage and other dishes. Happy that they have a selection of Japanese beers and other flavours. Staff is also very friendly! Arigatogozaimashita.

Fantastic restaurant and a great experience. Great vibe, friendly service and the food is outstanding. I really love this place. The smoked eel was the highlight of the meal but every was delicious. The sake tasting was fun and affordable. Good cocktail menu. Really enjoyed everything about this place. Great for a date night or a group of friends.

Really nice location, good service and decent food. We didn't like the cost given the quality and food did not match the pictures. For example the chicken karaage was just big pieces of chicken with no sauce.

Amazing slice of Japan in the centre of Jordaan. Made us miss our days in Osaka Simple menu covering Japanese classics like Tonkotsu, Takoyaki and Nigiri. Food is excellent, and beautifully presented. Great selection of cocktails with freshly squeezed ingredients, and a really nicely laid out sake menu making it easy to see what each option is likely to taste like. Staff were attentive and knowledgeable, can’t recommend enough!

What a great dinner at Hikage again. Beautiful menu, fresh ingredients and great cooking. Great tasty and surprising vegan dishes. Staff good and atmosphere warm minimalistic. Balance price/ quality very good. This restaurant goes on improving itself again and again. I recommend Hikage strongly.

Stumbled upon this place after visiting the Anne Frank house at 10pm last night, the best sushi we went to in Amsterdam hands down - delicious sashimi and cocktails! If you’re in Amsterdam and love good Japanese this is your spot 🍣 P.s service was great!

We had such a lovely dinner here at Hikage! The sashimi is very high quality, and all their ingredients taste very fresh. Amazing little treat for our taste buds! We saw that a lot of tables opted for the sake tasting, but we went for some cocktails. The Late Night Yuzu cocktail with spicy sake was incredible! The ambience is cute and intimate, it’s starting to become my favourite dinner place in Amsterdam 💭

Amazing food! We loved everything, only the pancakes for dessert were unremarkable. Prices for food are appropriate but some drinks are really expensive. Cozy atmosphere but not all seats have backrests. Overall a good experience. We'll come back!

Food was pretty good and the service was friendly. For the price I expected a little bit more food. I would come back here if I was in the area but not necessarily go out of my way to return.

As a Japanese person, I’m always looking for solid Japanese food when I travel and Hikage did not disappoint. The menu provides enough variety but is still concise, and it’s obvious that everything from the cooking to the plating has been thought through by someone who knows Japanese food well. I especially liked the ‘sea asparagus’ that was on the salad - the first time I’ve had that, and it was absolutely delicious! The seafood was fresh and the tempura was just the right amount of crunchiness. I would recommend Hikage without hesitation and will be sure to be back next time I am in the area!

Food was amazing, the service incredibly nice and attentive. The food was excellent, but the miso soup and the nigiri were the highlights. Make sure to book a table!

Great service, authentic and very fresh Japanese dishes. Meat, fish, and vegan options. Matcha tiramisu was perfect. Cozy atmosphere, highly recommended!

It is just ok. We have tried several dishes, including salmon tataki and crunchy shrimp which both were good. But eggplant was so bad that killed all taste of previuos dishes, it was so oily. Tiramisu was good. The menu of sushis is really limited.

Nice atmosphere and great service. The food was ok, loved the matcha tiramisu and mixed nigiri. The miso eggplant could have been better, it was super oily.

Wauw, this was really amazing. I had the fish menu and my bf vegan. You get a great variety of dishes with also big portions each. But of course, the flavour was amazing. The desert! Vegan chili ice cream with umeshu! So delicious

👍👍 The perfect place to enjoy high-quality seafood at a reasonable price. Was surprised to see this large restaurant buzzing at 5pm (both inside and outside!) but after seeing the fresh fish on display and trying the sashimi which just melts in the mouth I understood why. The staff were also very well-...
