I visited Annavilaas Indian restaurant yesterday after reading lots of positive reviews which talked about authentic taste. I ordered ghee dosa and tomato cream soup. In terms of ambience and service the restaurant is very good and I have no complaints. But when it comes to the taste of the food I found it below par. Just to be very clear I am from Central India but have been eating dosa, uttapam and similar South Indian food for many years. This restaurant is pure vegetarian and hence it really helps when you are in search of Indian vegetarian food. Also they offer lots of dishes from North Indian cuisine, so one can try that too.

This restaurant was recommended as one of the most authentic, and taste wise it was very good. It is vegetarian, so please note before coming. My favourite dish was the vada - it was cooked to perfection. Very light crispy layer, right out of the fryer, and a super soft spongy texture inside. The red chutney was also the best. I would recommend the butter naan and paneer masala. Masala tea was also good, though I wish the portion was bigger.

Wonderful experience in terms of both food and service. Food - tried different options of South Indian food. Taste was excellent and felt just like home. Lot of new options that are not available in Amsterdam Experience - the Staff were very friendly and willing to help or serve extra portions with smile. Also were suggesting foods that are not easily available. There recommendations were bangon

Had a good meal, Fresh lime soda as a drink, we could choose Sweet or Sour. The sweet was a nice taste, the sour was...... Salty, very weird. The food had a nice taste, some dishes I had no idea what I had on the plate. But the taste was good, Nice to try Veggie only dishes Service was so so, looked a bit messy. Not really welcoming which is totally different in the other Indian restaurants where we eat.

It was a wonderful dining experience for us at Annavilaas. The food was authentic south Indian and the service was top notch. Giri was very very attentive and ensured that we enjoyed our meal to the fullest. The Thalis/Meals come as a full spread with everything that you get in India, including Poriyal, Keerai, Kootu, Kozhambu, Sambhar, Rasam, Curd and Appalam. A must visit for vegetarian lovers!!

This is coming from a South Indian, easily the best South Indian food you’ll come across in Amsterdam. The food is super tasty, fresh and authentic in terms of preparation & presentation. Have visited this place multiple times and also took takeaway a few times and not once have they disappointed me. The service is also good and the pricing is worth it. Will be my go to Indian restaurant in Amsterdam.

We went on a Friday afternoon. It was free. Value for money. Great pure vegetarian restaurant in Amsterdam central. Meals were great, Biryani was customised based on our requirements, filter coffee was amazing. Definitely Better than other Indian restaurants in the region.

The best south Indian restaurant in Amsterdam! All the food was amazing, from the starters to the desserts. Try as many things as you can and you can't go wrong. Friendly staff and reasonable prices means it will be a great visit.

I was there 2 days in a row when i traveled with my mother to Amsterdam. Very lucky to have discovered this pure vegetarian option where you get an authentic taste of south India. We only tasted south Indian food and it was bang on target. I ordered south Indian meals and every dish had had its own exclusive taste. This was the only meal of the day we had and this made the stay in Amsterdam with my mother very agreeable for us. I will definitely be back here.

Authentic South Indian cuisine in Amsterdam! The mini thali is a good option if you want to have a little bit of everything! The sambhar, chutneys and mini idlis were delicious! The taste of most dishes is pretty close to the authentic taste , except a few where ginger was bit overpowering! End the meal with a classic filter coffee for the ultimate south indian meal experience!

This is a good place to eat South Indian food if you want an alternative to Sarvana Bhavan in Amsterdam. It serves all South Indian food including Kerala dishes as well. I and a set of friends visited it and had different dishes like dosa, idli, and filter coffee. Dosa and Button Idli were good. Filter coffee was okay. The ghee roast dosa was average, also the mushroom biryani was good to taste. The highlight of the complete lunch was vazai IIai Dum Parrotta Special. It is very tasty especially if you like spicy food. The north India thali was okay as it is a South Indian restaurant so comparatively they have better South Indian food, I would recommend it if you are tired of eating South delicacies. The service was good and fast and even the atmosphere was good, they normally had tables to sit on. I recommend visiting it more than once. Recommended: Vazai IIai Dum Parrotta Special Not recommended: Sukku Coffee Restaurant rating: 7 / 10

Initially surprised by the high prices compared to the ones we saw in Google search. But the portions justified the price and the taste was authentic South Indian. And the service was quick.

Highly recommend! I haven’t eaten a tastier Indian meal here in NL. This is now going to be our go-to restaurant. Quick & super service. The MENU and TASTE was sooo authentically Indian, it had Indo-Chinese soups and dishes, also Masala Papad! I haven’t seen a lot of restaurants serve that here. Unmatched taste - their Manchow Soup was proper Indo-Chinese, Masala Papad was so refreshing. Hara-Bhara Kebab was their ‘star dish’👌🏻Amazing food🤤

Had an amazing experience, the staffs were very courteous and attentive.. the food was served perfectly on time, no delays at all… for starters we had Paneer 65, Gobi 65, Paneer chilli , Medhu vada and manchow soup… every dish is a must try! For main course we had masala dosa, cheese masala dosa , poratta with Gobi manchurian - every dish upto the mark except for rava dosa .. it was a bit limp but rest was amazing ⭐️✨⭐️. Authentic South Indian flavours .. sambar and chutneys are fresh and tasty. For drinks we had mint cooler, filter coffee and fresh lime soda.. pick any one and you are good to go! Definitely will return if visiting Amsterdam 🇳🇱

One of a few Pure Vegetarian Indian restaurants in Amsterdam. The Dosas here are authentic and really good. I haven't tried idly or vada but the North Indian dishes like Paneer/Mix veg carry etc, naan, kulcha etc are okayish in taste. You can try the Ghee Podi Dosa. The paratha and lachha paratha combo were also nice. Gobhi 65 was also nice and crispy. When it comes to the quantity of the north Indian carry its a bit less. One serving will be enough for 2 folks. The restaurant is neat and the staff is courteous. I will keep visiting this place, as good options are limited for pure vegetarians. 😉 Happy Eating!

We went during a Sunday evening. Booked a table in advance to avoid waiting time. We ordered parotta with korma. Salna was not available. The taste was ok korma is not spicy and tasted oily. Spl Bonda tasted bid of bonda and too much of Aaloo taste was average. Idly and sambar was good. Chloe batoori tasted good. Altogether it’s average dinner. Ambience of the restaurant was good. Price is ok

Nice restaurant, excellent atmosphere, hygiene and service. Very tasty food but also its heavy food so order little by little. Definately, coming back with full family again. Staff is very friendly and accomodating.

Our first visit at Annavilaas and we really liked the food. Definitely the taste was very close to authentic South Indian food. Ghee Podi Thattu Idli was really flavourful and up to the mark. Medu Vada was hot n crispy. The chutneys were delicious and were very fresh. With quite decent portions, we enjoyed our meal. It was quiet at 12:00 PM and got our table easily. Staff is very friendly and we would definitely be visiting this place many more times :)

One of the most authentic South Indian food I had in recent times, highly recommend their Special thali and filter coffee. One star less as I did not find their mango lassi at par.

Amazing food, wonderful service, vibrant ambience. We ordered no onion and no garlic dishes and it was amazing as expected. So soft idli chutney and dosa melted in mouth. There was complimentary baby food for Shivom, my 1 year boy. He enjoyed a lot just a superb place highly recommend for vegetarians. Look out for their daily specials.

Good space, decent menu. We ordered drinks first and then a dosa for a kid who was with us. We were intending to order soon, but the people over there kept rushing us even though the place was practically empty and we had already ordered something. Didnt like that kind of behaviour. Ordered a medu vada plate and was pretty lacklustre. Firstly, the outside was crunchy like it should be, but i dont know what was happening with the filling. The filling inside the medu vada still felt mushy. Also weird chutney combination. I liked the South Indian thali. Definitely worth ordering. Customer service and maybe attention to some dishes could also be improved.

Very delicious and authentic South Indian Food. Great service and special shout out to Kiri👍.. Friendly and polite staff. Best place to have South Indian Food in Amsterdam by far.

Very good food, but some issues: no music in the restaurant, at least to have some India music on the background will help to make the meal more enjoyable. The menu online is not the same as the physical menu, no Byrianis and only 2 desserts on the physical menu for example. Cocktails with not enough ice. Spa rood not very cold. I heard another customer said that he did not touch something from his menu so it could been used for another customer and the waiter saved it!!!! But again, the food was delicious

We had the chance to eat in this lovely place. The staff, the food and atmosphere were just perfect. Management was very helpful supporting us with the food choice and other touristic information. We loved eating real food with local people. The bill was inexpensive and still worth every penny. I would definitely recommend this place to anyone traveling to this part of India. Other important detail: the toilets were immaculate!.

We always order from Annavilaas via delivery apps and for the first time tired their food at the restaurant. We had mini brunch and channa batura along with South Indian coffee. The food was exceptional. It is without doubt the best South Indian vegetarian restaurant in Amsterdam. I'm a South Indian and I strongly recommend this restaurant. The service was also very good! The lady who served us was very nice and also gave me an extra bowl of kesari sweet as I liked it.

So far this is the best Indian restaurant I’ve tried in the Netherlands. Really tasty, you can’t go wrong with any dish here. Good to know: The dishes are all vegan, so you won’t find here anything with meat. Good to know: I didn’t want my dishes too spicy so I asked if could be mild and they did on point. As everything is freshly cooked they can adjust the spicy to your taste. This restaurant also have a variety of desserts as well. Point of improvement: the reason I do not give 5 starts is due to the super dirty toilet. Please clean this toilet 🚽 it was disgusting to the point I didn’t want to wash my hands there either.
