The Hogesluis (bridge no. 246) is an Amsterdammonumental double bascule bridge with ten passages, designed by Willem Springer in Parisian style. The older bridge from the 17th century was replaced by the current one in 1883 . The plate bridge, partly bascule bridge , is decorated with decorative pieces of cast iron (with city weapons), a natural stone vase balustrade, obelisks of natural stone with decorated lantern supports and matching lanterns
