An amazing place to visit and a must if you visit Capri. The walk up to the villa is a good workout so take a lot of water with you. We walked from the main port up to the shopping centre (which we didn't expect to see). Walk through the mass of exclusive shops and continue on up the hill. Pass all the beautiful houses and eventually you will arrive at Villa Jovis (sign posted). When you get to the villa adults will pay 6€. Young adults are free. There are public toilets there and they are clean. There isn't a cafe on site but we did pass the Villa Jovis Bar which is not far off the main villa. When you arrive walk right and enjoy the view and take a few snaps for the album. The most amazing spot is to the left as you walk past the villa. Look for the long corridor (see picture). Walk right and enjoy the cliff top view (not for the faint hearted). Imagine the emperor sitting on the bench (see picture) having people thrown off the cliff. Also, think of the places Caligula could avoid Tiberius. The villa is big but the future emperor would have to play the game wisely in order to survive the apprenticeship. If you are adventurous but have a slight fear of heights give it a try. The view from the main port looks much worse than the walk actually is. The path up to the villa can get steep but the path is really safe and the steepest parts are between houses and shops. You can even walk around most of the site without the feeling that you are standing on top of a cliff. You will have a sense of achievement when you walk back down to the Gucci shops 🥳. Give a like if you have acrophobia and made it to the top 👍

Go early and enjoy the ruins by yourself! We arrived around 9 a.m. and enjoyed a sunny stroll through the ruins workout any other tourists. It's an up close and unique look into the past. I loved the cisterns and was stuck by how big they were. $2 euros per person. Don't expect an interactive display or placards (everything's washed out from the sun). Bring your own audio tour or map for historical context. Trail is well marked. Getting there: it's about a 50 minute uphill walk from Umberto I piazza. Signs mark the way. There's one public restroom about 3/4 of the way up and a couple of cafes if you need water (which you really should just plan to bring from the get go). Highly worth it.

It's an invigorating but beautiful walk getting up to the Villa Jovis, one that not many tourist seem to do, at least in August when we were visiting. There was a lot of the "pleasure palace" still to see and it was fun but also horrifying to imagine what it would have been like at the time. You can mostly walk the grounds freely to explore the ruins and enjoy the fantastic views of the sea.

Though it is quite a climb up steep streets and hundreds of ancient stairs cases thru the town of Capri from Piazza Umberto and then up thru small mountain villages with gorgeous, secluded villas, terraced backyard farms of artichokes, lemon trees, and colorful flower beds, the ruins of Emporer Tiberius', luxury palace, Villa Jovi, set on top of the Rocky spur of Monte Tiberio, is worth the effort. Plus, there are a few bars, restaurants, markets, and cafes to stop at along the way, even a 5Star Michelin restaurant called Da Tonino. Views are amazing and you can detour to Arc National Park for stunning rock formations and views of Gulf of Naples and the Isle of Ischia

This is an incredible place, and absolutely worth the hike. The views are incredible and you get to walk right inside the ruins. Definitely a once in a lifetime opportunity. However, be aware that the entry fee is 6€ and CASH ONLY so make sure you get some cash before you hike all the way up, since there's really no other places nearby to get cash once you leave the main square.

This is an amazing site. Google information is totally wrong regarding opening times which is very negligent given the difficulty and expense of getting to Capri and then walking to this site. please update your information Google - we love you, but need you to be accurate! But then the sign is weird too - we went on a Tuesday in July and it was open. Good thing or I would have cried like a baby!

What a lovely spot! If you want to get away from the crowds and you’re looking for a bit of a hike, this place is for you. In a surprisingly well preserved ruin, you can step back in time and see just why Emperor Tiberius left Rome for the last ten years of his life to live here instead. Views are absolutely spectacular, signs to get here are well marked, and it was only 6 euros per person to enter.

Views are stunning from here! A very long hike to get here though! Took us about an hour, but we’re old :) €6 entrance fee is a bit much especially since you can’t get to most of the ruins anymore. Still interesting ruins however. Also stopped at the park near the villa for more stunning views! The hike to and from the villa was a great part!

The trek here was a bit of a challenge (It's the second highest point in Capri) due to how steep the sidewalk is. It can get quite hot so hydrate and take a hat and sunscreen if you're visiting during the summer months. The ruins are not in the best shape and it appears not to be maintained considering the 6€ fee. There's limited signage as to what you're looking at and there were no guide's available either. The views are amazing from here as well but I do wish there was some more informational signs to learn or understand it a bit more especially after such a long walk! I can't imagine the Roman empire was controlled from this very location!

Beautiful ruins of a very interesting villa. Some parts were closed, however, there was still plenty to see. The views from up there are also great. The walk there is not very long, and despite it being uphill, it's not that strenuous. There's also a restaurant with great views on the way if you need a rest and/or a drink and food. Also along the way there is a park with even more spectacular views of the sea, cliffs, and the island.

A great hike to get to the second highest peak on Capri, then a massive two thousand year old Roman villa to explore plus stunning views over the bay of Naples ...what's better than that? Best to read up on the history of the villa before you go as there is little information once there, there is a 4 EUR entry fee. But I was surprised for a villa "in ruins" there is still quite a lot of big structure remaining to pique your imagination about how awesome it must have looked back in the heyday of the Roman Empire.

Great ruins of the castle. We have also seen 3 tiny goats. The gates was closes so we had to go around.

The ruins are not impressive but it’s an enjoyable hike with incredible views.

Amazing view from the top of the villa. Nice walk through the ruins. Only downside is the chapel (which isn't even an original part of the villa) on top; it blocks the 360° view.

So much history, so worth the walk! Watch out for the goats though, they snuck up on me and I thought it was some biblical reckoning headed my way

Visited this stunning archeological site in October, 2022. The walk up from Capri may be challenging for some visitors but very well worth the effort. Entrance fee reasonable. Would recommend that visitors familiarise themselves on the history of this site for a more fulsome appreciation.

Even though it’s a 35 minute walk from Capri and there is no other way to get there, the sights and path itself are really nice. It’s easy (no need to be in shape or fit or anything) anyone can do it. As there are steps into the villa, it is not for wheelchairs.

Highlight of Capri. 2000 years of history. Spectacular views and a beautiful walk 25 minutes from Capri main town.
