CHOC has a reputation of great care and service for children. However, the Pediatric Urgent Care in Chapman Avenue, Orange, CA is far from providing good customer service and timely service for little ones who are sick to be seen by a physician. Patients being turned away; patients checked in waiting for more than 2.5 hours then eventually told that they won’t be seen by the door. Shame on CHOC! Who is responsible for the oversight of this clinic? It appears that something is not working efficiently to provide needed medical care to children at the CHOC Pediatric Urgent Care Chapman Clinic. on a timely and caring manner. Perhaps, operational administrative staff (upper management) need to assess the clinic sooner than later to resolve such poor service.

We had to wait for over three hours with two kids having high fever without help. We got here when they just opened at 12 pm and there were only 4 patients in front of us. They took other groups who arrived after us. Consider going somewhere else if your kids need medical care. Update: after over four hours of waiting we finally left without seeing any doctor because the front desk woman told us it was unlikely we’d be seen any time soon. My kids both had high fever and we had to take them to a different urgent care. It was the first time we went to choc and the last. Very disappointed in their system and the lack of care, the unprofessional attitude demonstrated by the front desk.

CHOC is usually known to provide excellent customer service, but this urgent care BOILED my blood, even though, I'm usually a very calm, understanding person. I called first to check if it's busy at 5:10 PM. They opened at 5 PM and closed at 7 or 8 PM that day. They told me it's not busy and as long as I could get there 30 mins before closing, they would take us in. We arrived at 5:30. 4 patients ahead of me. Pretty much an empty waiting room, only with 2 patients, in addition to my son. We patiently waited and waited and 45 mins later, they told me my son was now on a waiting list. Huh???? Another 30 minutes later, they said the dr said she could no longer see us because she already had 4 patients. WHAAAAAT?????? What happened to the info of "as long as you could be here 30 mins before closing"? We were there 30 mins right after they opened the door! CHOC, please listen! Please don't spend so much donation funds & put so much effort for advertisements for your urgent care, beautifying the clinics, etc. Please FOCUS on improving your patient services. Hire more physicians. Train your employees. Patients and parents are extremely exhausted when the kids are sick. Be considerate. Be thoughtful. Be understanding. Be kind. Please don't claim yourself as the pioneer in providing exceptional medical care in children, if you fail miserably the simple yet vital basics! Please do better! In the end, my son received care from the online Blueberry pediatric care in 30 mins after I submitted the call request. Excellent service.

Front desk girl was very bad behavior and doesn’t care about patients (check who worked on Oct/16/2022 at 12pm since open) also nurse was very not professional because my son had fever and she said doesn’t have a fever. I told her I thought he had fever she said again no fever . But doctor checked he was 102f. Overall really bad experience with them waited 4 hour !!!!! Over all with check up 6hour.

Choc pediatric urgent care clinic orange was Rated 2 stars in Google reviews it should be a reason for that. All the reviews has the same problems. But they don’t plan to improve. Never come here if you’re child sick or in a rush to see doctor. Standard waiting time is 3 to 4 hours. But they don’t tell you in advance until you pay copayment 😂. Urgent care and have to wait 3,4 hours. Is it “URGENT CARE”??? I’m waiting here almost 4 hours and my son don't even see the nurse for vital check 🤣

This urgent care says it closes at 11:30pm I got here at 11:15 and told me that they weren't taking patients any longer parking lot was empty which meant that they weren't many patients inside I called and I asked why weren't taking patients if they closed at 11:30 and was told they stop taking patients at 11pm,Jorge said it was their policy, if it was policy then their website would not say 11;30,if that's they case it should close at 11 NOT 11:30. It's more like this employees want to leave at their time not welling to stay one sec more for ill patients😡😡!

They make you wait then they call you and tell you that they are not longer taking patients… worst service I came back next day at 2pm and again they told me putting you on wait list we will call you if the doctor will see you really and they close at 7:30pm

Dr. Shih is the best pediatrician! She diagnosed botulism in my six-month-old son, a very rare and dangerous disease. She sent us immediately to the emergency room at the hospital. The diagnosis was confirmed there, my son received antitoxin and recovered fully. If Dr. Shih did not diagnose botulism, he could stop breathing on the same day. So Dr. Shih saved my son's life!

Never been there and never been able to. It seems like every time I call to check they don't take patients anymore. Does really qualify as urgent care with business hours until 11:30 pm? Very misleading.

We came at this urgent care at 1:00pm on a Sunday. Front desk told me if I’m willing to wait til’ 3pm, they will call me to let me know if they will open slots for more patients. Just fyi they just opened at 12:00 so 1 hour into opening they dont have spots anymore. I waited patiently with my sick child just locally because you only have 15 minutes to get there once they call you. Here comes 3:15pm and still no call not even an update if there is any chance that my child will be seen by the doctor. I came to the clinic and ask again. Frontdesk ask me to wait 15-20minutes to see if they will have open spots. Almost 4pm, This time I called, a guy answered and told me i have to wait 1.5-2 hours to see if they will have open spots. 3 hours of wasted time waiting for nothing with a sick child! If it is nit a Sunday I would have gone to a different place. Luckily I found a different urgent care in Mission Viejo. We drove for 30 minutes to get to the place but my child was checked in the room in just 5 minutes. This CHOC urgent care has a very bad customer service and the system needs to be checked!

Nurses are tired and don't seem to care. Everyone is in a bad attitude. They take forever to get you seen then rush to get you out without giving a diagnosis. The quality of service and treatment this hospital once gave its patients seems to be gone.

Yup. The others are right. The wait time is long and it’s not even first-come first-served. It’s by whatever the number that is written in the sign-in sheet - which should be in order but apparently they are just random. After 1.5 hr wait on Saturday, they come and tell me we are waitlist #4 when some others who came after us are ahead of us in the waitlist. What? Im sure the staff is competent, but sadly I couldn’t find out. The way it is run and how the waiting / waitlist is handled do not give me any confidence to return. Bye bye forever

This place is a joke. The staff is rude. They open at 5, I came in at 5:05pm, I wasn't seen until 9:45pm.i don't even understand why they have a security, they don't do anything and they are also very rude.

I took my daughter for skin bacteria she got. Everything was so fast and they were so nice and friendly. The facility is so clean. She got an antibiotic from the Dr and the day after she was totally fine. Great experience with them.

I try the place for couple of times, they were good in their services and system and they control the long time waiting by making appointment over the phone and keep on following up by text message, so you no need to come early and stay too much.

Unfortunately anytime you go after sunset they would tell you the waiting time so long and they will be closed by the time they get to you even they don’t have more than couple of people at the time I am referring to the front desk individuals since I don’t know if the staff in the back have any say in it. This is not the first time I endured this situation that’s why I decided to write about it so they have a long history of acting this way and nothing have changed for the past few years. Upper management needs to get involved to stop this behavior. I am attaching couple of pictures since that’s what you have to do once you get there to check in so you can do it at home and once your turn gets closer you can head that way so you don’t have to waste few hours sitting there for them to say we can’t see you and come back tomorrow

I think they deserve this low rating. They refused to see my kid at 11 because they close by 11:30.

This place is horrible. It’s always an issue with them. Either we have to be on a wait list and then at the end they don’t even take us in. The ladies in the front desk are rude as hell, and will talk over you. Why work in a children urgent care if you’re gonna have a bad attitude. I wish I can leave no stars. DO BETTER!!!!

My daughters primary dr is out of this location which we love an have been w/ her for years! The urgent care after hours though is why I’m writing this review, horrible experience! They stay open till 11:30pm on Friday nights I called at 10:16 pm to ask if they were still taking patients an they said yes because they were not at full capacity. Also let me know they do stop taking in patients by 11:00pm. So I got my daughter changed a rushed over, tried to walk in at 10:40 an all of sudden they were full an not accepting patients. Not only is is that super frustrating when you have a kid getting an ear infection which shouldn’t be a long visit regardless but that when I said I just called maybe 20mins ago they told me well it’s first come first serve which I get but there was literally 4 parked cars in the front which I’m sure 1 or 2 if not all them were the workers cars! At that point they should have just told me to wait till the next day since I’m sure they all want to go home, I get it, but u have bussiness hours for a reason!

So we were going to get our son checked out and he’s only three years old and they said it would be a three hour wait whether not a whole lot of cars in the parking lot so we just up and left and are going to the urgent care that won’t take 3 hours.

Does anyone know where to report the poor service of the doctors and receptionists???
