Last
week
my
family
made
the
hard
decision
to
euthanize
our
family
dog
after
almost
having
her
for
15
years.
It
was
the
hardest
decision
we’ve
ever
had
to
make
and
one
that
doesn’t
come
lightly.
Unfortunately,
my
parents
were
out
of
town
and
so
that
left
me
and
my
brother
with
the
responsibility
of
having
to
do
it
all
on
our
own.
When
we
brought
our
dog
in,
immediately
the
staff
was
incredibly
empathetic
and
walked
us
through
every
little
detail
of
the
process
with
such
patience
and
made
us
feel
so
comfortable,
knowing
we
were
making
the
right
call.
The
staff
gave
us
as
much
time
as
we
wanted
in
our
final
moments
with
our
sweet
girl,
never
rushing
to
give
the
room
up
to
another
patient.
We
had
all
the
time
in
the
world
and
it
felt
evident.
When
we
decided
we
were
ready,
Dr.
Tateyama
came
in
and
asked
if
we
had
ever
been
present
when
putting
a
pet
down,
which
we
had
not
before.
He
calmed
us
and
told
us
everything
that
could
happen
and
that
every
reaction
was
completely
natural
and
normal,
reassuring
us
that
he
would
be
present
every
step
of
the
way.
When
she
passed
peacefully,
the
staff
asked
if
we
wanted
her
to
be
taken
or
if
we
wanted
to
have
more
time.
Again,
never
prying
and
always
leading
with
patience
and
compassion.
This
morning,
my
family
opened
a
card
that
was
from
Dr.
Tateyama,
which
he
had
hand-written
and
mailed
to
our
home,
stating
his
deepest
condolences
with
losing
a
family
pet
and
reiterating
that
our
decision
was
hard,
but
one
made
out
of
love.
My
family
and
I
are
blown
away
with
the
incredible
care
and
love
from
the
staff
of
this
hospital
and
we
would
recommend
this
establishment
to
anyone
who
wants
to
be
taken
care
of,
as
well
as
their
pet.
I
promise
you
are
in
good
hands
here.
I
just
want
to
thank
the
staff
on
behalf
of
my
entire
family
for
the
care,
compassion,
and
love
shown
to
us
throughout
the
entire
process.
You
are
all
exceptional
and
we
are
so
immensely
grateful.
