Cute lemurs and pretty landscape. But 90k for 2 people for 1h15 hike is a not reasonable. Skip it and go to the next park. It will be better value for money.

Besides the spectacular panoramic scenery of towering mountains, this is probably the best place to spot the Ring-Tailed Lemurs. If you've watched the movie Madagascar, you're about to spot a lot of king Juliens. The lemurs are casually jumping from tree to tree, free to go wherever they want. These were some of my favourite lemurs to find as they're very playful. I saw a lot of baby lemurs as well. We also spotted some chameleons. I really enjoyed this location!

You’ll have a great time spotting ring tailed lemur - and chameleon- here with friendly, knowledgeable guides. Desperate not to miss out, our group excitedly crowded under one tree as the first lemurs approached but before long we were surrounded with the animals quite relaxed in our company. Restaurant wasn’t great but definitely worth a visit, even just for a sit down in the shade and a drink, to support the community.

We had an extraordinary experience with Ring-tailed Lemurs at Anja Park. They came so close and it was wonderful to see the family groups. Some mothers had babies less than a week old. We were heartened to see about 60 local men walking through with their tools to create a fire break so that this special place will stay protected.

This is a small lemur reserve operated by the local community. Locals are employed as guides and trackers. Funds earned from visitors are used to benefit and expand the reserve and also an emergency fund for the local community. The reserve harbors a large number of lemurs, chameleons and birds. A visit here helps support the wildlife and the local community. Highly recommend.

Vistas espectaculares.

A true hidden gem! We didn't plan on visiting the reserve, based on its description it sounded more like a zoo. We were wrong! This is a beautiful reserve and they do an amazing job at conservation. The local guides are amazing, do not hire somebody from outside. These people went from hunters to wildlife guides and understood the importance of protecting the ring-tailed lemurs. Beautiful success story. In the end we barely saw the ring tailed lemurs anywhere else in Madagascar, this was the best place to see them by far. Do not hesitate!

It’s is a very memorable experience to visit Anja Community Reserve. All 42 guides and around 200 animal spotters are locals from the surrounding villages. During low-seasons, they are farmers and back here full time during dry (high-season). It is a place that you can support the local community. Can clearly see it that they improved the reserve and kept it well. Toilet at the trail entrance is brand new and sparkling clean as of our visit in Jan 2024. This reserve is a home to more than 600 ringtail lemurs and allows you to spot them up close. We took a short walk (one hour) due to time limit and that already gives us fantastic view.

Wonderful little dry forest. The legend says that a good share of the guides is made of former zebus muggers. We got a female guide which we appreciate because it is less common in this country. The fauna is abundant although not diversified. Yet you'll see the highest lemurs concentration of the whole island. One specie only, but you can see up to 50 of them, which we did. They literally hung out with us when we stayed for a while in the same place waiting. Our guide was patient and didn't rush us to keep walking. I took films and dozens of pictures and she was just waiting for us. Sometimes guides are in a hurry and wanna end the tour quickly so we enjoyed the slow pace. She also advised us to take mosquito repellent. Being that verbally preventive doesn't happen much here. People living and working here will understand. The view spots are breathtaking and worth climbing. We did the longest tour, it cost MGA 100.000 for 2 strangers. There are toilets and a little place to eat for MGA 5 000. We visited during the afternoon. I would absolutely recommend it.

Most of tourists just come to see Ring Rail lemur as they are can be see very close. Okay to take some pictures, crowded and not atmospheric. However, If you take a bigger circle, you can see much more things. But be prepared to climb rocks.

Very beautiful short hike. Nice to see lemurs roaming freely. What I didn't like is having a guide and a spotter with me all the time. In my opinion there are no need for both as I couldn't enjoy the view on the lookout rock as I had to make sure i didn't spend too much time there. The lemurs can be found easily and the path is pretty straight forward.

Went here from Ranomafana so my partner could see the ringtails, about 4hr drive from there. Was much better than I expected, along with the chance to see many ringtails up close yoy also get a guided walk up through the caves and boulders up onto some big rock slabs which serve as great lookout points. You get a scenic hike combined with a lemur experience. What a great way to spend the day. Point of note, once yoy state hiking the rock formations you don't see many lemurs so get all your pictures of them before you start the climb. Do wear sensible footwear as the the hike through the rocks can be steep at times. We went on a weekday and it was lovely and quiet with only a handful of other tourists there at the time. Highly recommend visiting.

We had a great visit with the ringtail lemurs here and it was good to see them and the Chameleons in their natural habitat. I met Victor who runs the project and I’m very impressed that he is continuing his fathers work to protect the ringtail lemurs there, reforest to expand the project and benefit the health care in the local community, everyone benefits and a truly worthwhile project to support

Amazing community reserve that takes care of the local lemur population as a way to generate income for their community. There are ongoing projects to plant endemic trees and grow the area of the park for their growing lemur population. We were there in early October and many of the families had young babies. So cute!

One of my favorite places in Madagascar. The park is breathtaking, the guides are knowledgeable, and the park fees are going towards supporting a great cause. Anja Community Reserve gives back to the people in their community in many different ways. The local school was built by the park and park fees pay for the teachers' salaries. They teach locals about the importance of protecting the environment. All around an amazing place

Certainly one of the best places to see the ring tailed lemur. It is a private reserve run by the villagers.

  • 3/5 Jorge M. 5 years ago on Google
(Translated by Google) It is a private park owned by a community of surrounding towns. It is famous for having quite a few ring-tailed lemurs and they come quite close to tourists. The initiative is very interesting, but in our experience they lack some professionalism. First of all, they lack respect for animals. During our visit they climbed a tree to shoot a chameleon so that we could see it more closely. Your interaction with animals should be minimal. Second, they recommended one of the longer routes to us. To convince us they told us that the shorter ones were less likely to see lemurs, although we saw them as soon as we started the tour. And from what they themselves told us later, these animals must be of habit, doing the same thing every day. I understand then that they knew perfectly well that they would be at the beginning of the route drinking water, like every day at that time. In fact we did not see any lemur in the most remote parts. I suppose it was a method for us to hire the longest route, but honesty should come first. Finally, it is important to bear in mind that the longest routes pass through an area of large rocks. Going through it is not easy and includes areas with the help of ropes that they have already installed. They do not notify you in advance, so be careful if you go with the elderly, children or people in low physical shape.
