The temple is very beautiful. The temple is around 500 years old and is a pure ancient architectural beauty. The place is just 2 hours drive away from Bangalore. We can very well make a one day plan to this place and return by afternoon if we start by morning 8. There is a garuda statue at the entrance. But were not allowed nearby for reasons unknown even after paying them to see the place. The parking and restrooms are pricey. 10 Rs. Just to enter the toilet irrespective of what you do inside. There is enough parking space. Would have been better if the management improve the temple instead of being money minded.

Nandi statue It is one of the largest single stone Nandi figure in India and it is said to be that it is largest of its kind in India. It is just 0.5kms from Lepakshi main shrine. Perfect spot for one day trip for Bangaloreans. Summer time is not recommended since it will be too humid.

Place of jadayu sculpture. Serene gardens. Visit this place first and then go to main temple for extended information. For those of you who don't know about this place, this is the place where a bird God by name Jadayu first saw Ravana kidnapping Goddess Sita amma, and tried to save her by fighting with Ravana. Ravana then cut of his wings and he fell down. Later while lord Rama was searching for Goddess Sita, got the information that Ravana kidnapped her and thus helped Rama by giving him the details first. And lord Rama helped him by saying "Le Pakshi" ( Get up bird) and thus that is how the place received its name Lepakshi.

A nice place to start your early morning, ancient history of India to look at. Start early around 5 AM from Bangalore so that you can enjoy morning breeze. Inside temple premises shoes aren't allowed. You can keep it in car itself. Close to temple Nandi and theme park is there. It will be take around 2.5hrs to 3 hrs to see everything.

Beautiful place. One must visit if you are interested in ancient architectures and sculptures. You'll find good / decent restaurants on highway. But there aren't any good restaurants off the highway. At least I didn't find any.

The Monolithic Bull, a Nandi sculpture in Lepakshi, India, doubles as an archaeological site. Notably, it's among the largest single stone Nandi figures in the country, and it's claimed to be the largest of its kind. Located 1 km east of Lepakshi at the town's entrance, this impressive piece is meticulously carved from red granite, showcasing the exquisite Vijayanagar architectural style.

Beautiful temple. You really go back into the 15-16th century looking at the ruins. The nandi sculpture is magnificent and the Garuda theme park is also fun.

This is a good place to visit, especially for those from Bangalore since it is hardly 2 hour journey (including traffic/rainy weather). Best way to plan is for a morning to afternoon visit and return before it gets dark. The route is not safe during nights especially when we want to drive a car at high speeds. The roads are well maintained though and we saw almost no potholes along the lepakshi road from the big arc. This bull statue is open beyond 6pm as it is an open place. It feels more like a park and many people were trying to climb it.

The Lepakshi Nandi, a monolithic bull statue, stands as an iconic symbol of artistic finesse and cultural significance in India. Carved from a single granite rock, it resides in the town of Lepakshi in Andhra Pradesh. This massive sculpture measures about 4.5 meters in height and 8.23 meters in length, showcasing exceptional craftsmanship and detailing. Believed to represent the vehicle (vahana) of Lord Shiva, the Nandi statue is adorned with intricate carvings, displaying various mythological motifs and ornate designs. Its posture exudes a sense of grandeur and devotion, capturing the essence of Hindu mythology. Legend has it that the statue was constructed during the Vijayanagara Empire's reign in the 16th century. Apart from its religious significance, the Lepakshi Nandi serves as a testament to the architectural brilliance of that era. Pilgrims, history enthusiasts, and art connoisseurs flock to witness this marvel, appreciating not just its size but also the cultural heritage it embodies. The Lepakshi Nandi remains a revered and awe-inspiring testament to India's rich artistic and religious legacy.

Majestic !! One of the biggest nadi statute and this one is quite different one, as we can see face is slightly upwards due to a sense of Maga Shiva linga in front of it. This is located right next to main road which is goes towards lepakshi town/village and around 300-400 away from the main temple. Basic amenities are present inside premises like drinking water , restrooms and small green garden and amole seating benches. People can sit here and enjoy viewing the statue after coming from temple and near by jatayu park.

This is easily visible before you visit the main temple..either you can visit before the temple visit or post temple visits.. parking is mostly on the side of the roads. It was built during Vijayanagara period when the main Veerabhadra Temple was built. The Lepakshi Nandi is made out of single granite. The monolithic Nandi sculpture is said to be the second largest monolithic structure in India after Gomateshwara in Shravanabelagola. It is 20 feet in height and 30 feet in length.

Nice historical place with lots of architectural and sculptural wonders like monolithic statue of Nandi, Jatayu, hanging pillar and other mandapas... The main shrine of lord veerabhadraswamy looks very beautiful. Wheel chair access not available to temple and Jatayu. Limited parking. organized and charged by the villagers approved by authorities. Nearby hotels cater the food needs.

Its a big statue, the entrance to the Lepakshi Veerbhadra temple is 300 meters to the right starting from here, if you coming from the national highway. The park is well maintained. The statue has corroded in places due to years out in the elements.

This ancient marvellous Nandi made by single stone (Monolithic). People estimate it age more than 1500 years. It is situated on main road in open air just before Lepakshi template gate. If you visit here, see how this created, note the details and fine carving.your observation make it unique.

One of the most beautiful monolithic Nandi carved out of a single rock. The Nandi is surrounded by a beautiful well-developed garden. The garden also has a small pond with many lotuses blooming giving the place a nice look. The place is in Andhra Pradesh about 2 and a half hours journey by road from Bangalore.

Nice place!!! #CP At a distance of 500 m from Lepakshi Bus Stand and 500 m from Sri Veerabhadra Temple (Lepakshi Temple), Lepakshi Nandi (Bull) is one of the main attractions in Lepakshi and a well-known landmark for the tourism of Lepakshi. The Nandi statue is decorated with a necklace, muvvalahara, a bell chain with small horns. It is noticeable that the head of the bull is held aloft at a higher angle than usual. In addition, the expression of submission, which is typical of Nandi before Shiva, is not seen in the statue here. This big granite bull is situated on the main road beside AP Tourism Haritha resort. It has been positioned such that it faces the 18 ft Nagalinga in Veerabhadra Temple Complex.

Neatly maintained Nandi temple next to the road. A parking facility is available right in front but the reason for existence is not known. Monolithic structure and amazing planning the detail is so clean. Salute the sculptor who enabled carving this out.

One of the best temple architecture in South India. The complete building is balanced on single hanging pillar. The ceiling is more than 500 years old but there is no leakages. Paint on ceiling is also still visible which is painted using natural colours. It's 130km from Bangalore. Road is very good except last 15km.

Very clean temple premises. Two parking areas; 1) on village street 2) and other from Jatayu hill side road. Few monkeys are there so avoid any eatables inside the temple. *Good to spend 20-30 minutes. *Drive time from bangalore is around 3 hours, one way. *Very good ROAD (except couple of KMs near the temple) *an APTDC restaurant cum hotel nearby. Not tried food so can’t comment.

When you are going on the way to Veerabhadra Temple, Lepakshi you will notice a Big Single Stone Nandi. It is a marvelous stone carving one should not miss while visiting Veerabhadra Temple, Lepakshi. Lepakshi Nandi : At 27ft in length and 15ft in height, it is a colossal structure, reputedly India’s biggest monolithic Nandi. It is the second largest monolith in India, after Shravanabelagola Gomateshwara. Besides the record size, the perfectly proportioned body, finely-carved ornaments, and smooth contours add to its grandeur and make it a popular spot with visitors.Nandi is facing west. It is a remarkable piece of artistic beauty with perfectly proportioned limbs, beautifully carved ornaments, and excellent workmanship. Note : Parking is available. No parking fee.
