A historical place with groups of cenotaph (Chatriyas). This place is highly underrated and only few people visit here. Govt and system is busy making useless walks and jogging tracks in kailana areas but ignoring heritage places like this. Some maintenance is required. Reaching here is difficult. Only way to reach here is from Balsamand road and do not take road from Mandore gardens. The 3km road from main road is so well maintained because of mining surroundings. However this place is temporary closed due to covid outbreak. But one can take permission from only guard stood at site.

Panchkunda ki chatris(cenotaphs) is a set of 46 cenotaphs. It is believed that the soul of the deceased person is the carried to heaven by these cenotaphs or its a medium. Here, beautiful artistic chatris were built to preserve the memory of their ancestors by the the rulers.

Panchkunda chattriya is a place where Cenotaphs of various Maharajas and Maharanis of Jodhpur have been constructed. One can reach here by walking through the Mandore Garden along the Pir of Tanha Sahib. The entire path is very tiresome to walk during summers due to the scorching heat of the sun. Panchkunda was named so due to the five water ponds which are located in the tiny village adjacent to it. These kunds are named after the five Pandavs.

These are cenotaphs in memory of the deceased rulers. The place opens at 9:00 AM. There is no entry fee for visiting this place. Proper respect should be shown to these chhatriyas. But one thing I noticed that these are not well maintained and this may cause to turn these beautiful architectures into ruins within a few decades.

great historical place where you can see how beautifully they prevent the history of marwar. It's was basically the cremation ground of kings and queens of marwar. And leter cenotaphs was built over there. The architecture of this place is truly admirable. The cenotaph of Maharani Surya Kanwar is a marvelous specimen of Marwar architecture. About 30-32 similar cenotaph remain here.

Panchkunda ki chatris(cenotaphs), that's a place of 46 cenotaphs. It was the cremation ground of royal family of marwar, later cenotaphs was built over there. One of the best part of this visit was isolation as there was no crowd that’s why it was a calm place. One of the guide told about its history related to royal family. The other reference are, the song "Zeehale Muskin" from multi-star movie Gulami (1985) was pictured here. The other Baba Jackson, a YouTuber and dancer shared clips from this place. Overall it was wonderful experience. The cenotaph of Maharani Surya Kanwar is a marvelous specimen of Marwar architecture.

This place is very good for photography lovers.it offers so many angles to capture. But as a tourist it is not worth visiting as it is located outside the city and there is no refreshments available nearby. Also the place doesn't have a lively atmosphere. Being a photography lover I will recommend it as a must visit place.

Only isolated place in the outskirts of jodhpur near mandore. A absolute adventuring+historical sighting you can take advantage of in this decade. I have done many nightouts in the jungles. You can have the taste of rajasthani bhaker and rajasthani plants like euphorbias... Shikari rabbits also called bunny and neel gaye You can find out old tombs of saadhu and many historical gufa In short, if you want to have a mixed joy of adventure, historical, exploring and away from the humans.. this is the best you can get in jodhpur

It is bit far from the city. Only one security guy is present. Many films have been shoot here. The best time to visit here is at sunset evening time. On the way if you travel on scooty at night its most risky jungle area.

Place is very beautiful and worth a one time visit. We reached around 5 and were denied entry saying it's closing time. Had to force enter after showing them the time displayed online. I was not going to turn around coz of some lazy guard, especially after driving there from a different state. Later found out from a auto driver outside that the guards there usually try n close the place at 4-5pm if less crowd so they can leave for home soon. Though we and few families who were denied entry were allowed inside after I intervened, the vibe was lost due the altercation. So I just walked around for a few min, took a few pics and left before others who entered with me. My recommendation is to reach earlier. We had planned evening time to see the sunset from here but it was not meant to be.

(Translated by Google) 23 February 2020 Suryanagari Nila Shahar, the gateway to the desert, we all know Jodhpur by these names and mainly we know it for tourist places like Mehrangarh Mandore etc. But you will be surprised to know that Panchkund is just 2 kilometers from Mandor garden or fort. Another historical heritage called Chhatriyaan is untouched part of Jodhpur and despite being endowed from tourism point of view is dispensed with. Most of us are familiar with this place through Bollywood, through the song Odhni Odh Ke Nachu from the Bollywood film Tere Naam. Apart from this, this place has been a part of more dramas and films. According to the tradition of Rajasthan, the purpose of making these chhatris is done in place of the rituals of the late rulers of the royal family, it is believed that by doing this their soul goes directly to heaven through these umbrellas. The chhatris of Panchkund are 44 in number but most of the chhatris are amazingly similar in terms of size and texture, all these umbrellas have been beautifully carved and most of the canopies have been made of sandstone and marble. Next time you come to Jodhpur, include this place in your list too. Very well maintained historical site. You have to register yourself upon entering the place and show respectfully explore the place as one cannot wear footwear if you go inside the cenotaphs itself although you can wear footwear in the grounds. This is the place where the rulers and queens of former Kingdom of Marwar were cremated according to Hindu rituals.

Panchkunda ki chatris is a set of 46 cenotaphs, at a short distance away from the Mandore gardens. These minor royal cenotaphs were built before 1459, when Mandore was the capital of Marwar. The chhatri of Maharani SuryaKangar (daughter of Naresh Pratap Singh of Jaipur) is the most beautiful one withith 32 pillars & a small marble cenotaph.

It is a complex consisting of cenotaphs of Jodhpur Queens. It is considered to have a unique architectural features. Some Queens are cremated here. Built in red sand stone, it is a great example of Marwar architecture. The best one among the cenotaphs is that of Maharani Surya Kanwarji (Daughter of Maharaja Pratap Singh ji of Jaipur) which have 32 pillars. The complex also have cenotaphs of rulers such as Rao Jodha, Rao Ranmal, Rao Chunda. To reach here you have to take the road near to Mandore Circle that leads to balsamand lake. The place is a favourite spot for Filim Shooting.
