Divine bistro dining in the heart of the valley. 1918 was a consistent recommendation from locals in the know and I’m very glad I checked it out. Known for its grilled dishes, it didn’t disappoint. My steak was cooked to perfection. The sides were delicious too. The mushroom starter was interesting, a deconstructed mushroom pie. A highlight was service - in a word “fabulous” - Thanks to Adam and Amber who made my experience dining alone an absolute delight. They were even concocting a safe word to rescue me had a dodgy blind date turned up, which wasn’t the case that evening. Good to know they were all in and would have your back should you need them ever ;) The atmosphere was so warm and inviting from the onset. Set in a delightful renovated historic building, the fireplaces were a lovely soothing touch. The details like hearts in rose petals on the tables tells you why it’s such a local date night fav. The wine list focuses on showcasing some of the more boutique local producers and their favourites like the Rockford Basket Press and family producers Rusden. I tried the “blind” red which they offer to challenge the locals on their tasting ability. They squeezed me in which was fabulous, but were busy so book ahead to avoid disappointment.

Everything was a near perfect except for one glaring thing; the wait times… the time in between meals soured an otherwise perfect lunch. It was about 30 mins from when we ordered to our starters, then another 35 mins to our mains… due to this we skipped desserts. That said, the meals, decor, atmosphere and service were all excellent. The pick of the bunch for me were the mussels, mixed meat platter and lamb shoulder. We booked our table online and was easy and simple.

Great service and cozy restaurant. Was expecting more about the food tbh. We ordered the fish of the day which was a really small piece, dry and the romesca sause was just a tomatoe sauce and you needed lots of imagination to taste the chorizo in it. coliflower steak was beautiful and the chicken paté was really yummi too.

We had dinner in 1918 tonight and we enjoyed it so much. The restaurant is historical and elegant. Staff were nice and cheerful. We ordered French Onion Soup and Italian Burrata for entree. Both were delicious, especially the bone marrow in the soup. Main dishes were Scotch Fillet and risotto. Both of them were incredible as well. The beef was juicy and soft given it was cooked medium rare. It is out of my expectation to taste such good food in Barossa Valley. Prices are reasonable. Highly recommended.

A charming venue, they’ve converted a house into a delightful restaurant. Service can happen in almost any room, or outside. Great wines, excellent food and fabulous service. We had a variety of dishes… chicken liver parfait, oysters & prawn linguini for starters. Followed up with roast lamb shoulder and the dessert platter. Every little thing was perfect!!!

Wow! Only work to describe the food! Like travel in a foreign country, this food experience was amazing! Just delicious, not complicated or over spiced (no salt and pepper on the table) and not needed!🦞🍤🥑😵‍💫

Beautiful cottage setting with friendly welcoming staff. Warm fireplace on a cold wininters day was perfection! Great selection of wines and cocktails. Ox tail with polenta, salmon on truffle mash with crispy green beans were delicious. Great start to a holiday!

Absolutely amazing meal. We had a beautiful table by the fire, decorated for an anniversary we were celebrating. Highlight of my meal was the rock lobster & avocado tian entree - it was absolutely scrumptious. We shared the lamb shoulder. Beautiful surroundings, wonderful food and excellent service. Can't recommend enough.

Lovely and friendly staff. When we arrived greeted us Happy Anniversary! The ambience is really good and quiet when we had lunch there to celebrate our anniversary. My husband's food is perfect according to him. He truly enjoyed it. He ordered yesterday's soup for entree and eye fillet steak for main. I ordered mushroom pastry for entree which is so good and filling and for the main I ordered the crispy pork belly with pureed pumpkin and sauteed brocollini as side dish. Though the pork belly is crispy which is good, but the let down is that it's too salty! I mixed the pureed pumpkin at the top of the skin so not to taste the salt too much but it's still salty. And the side dish, the broccolini's stalk is too hard to eat. But still I gave it 4 stars coz there are still positives about our dining experience.

We had a great night and went midweek so had no trouble booking a table for four. Staff were most pleasant and made us feel very welcome. The food was great with Spencer Gulf Prawns, Kangaroo, Fish, Crisp Potatoes and Thai Green Curry being served. Wine list was comprehensive and well priced. I would definitely visit again. Easy Parking.

This restaurant serves one of the most delicious food in Barossa Valley. Ordered "Crispy Pork Belly" and "Market Fish" (which turned out salmon). Mouthwatering.... just kept digging. Hats off to you all. 5⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

I enjoyed the most spectacular lunch at 1918 on Tuesday this week. A friend and I shared a few entrees as there was so much we wanted to try on the menu. Each dish was amazing. Excellent service, presentation and flavour. A must stop on your Barossa trail.

I can’t fault the dining experience we had at 1918. Everything was perfect from the friendly, well timed food service, to the exquisite menu, to the delicious drinks. I ordered a margarita then had Eden valley Pinot noir with dinner. The chicken liver parfait with orange was a rich and fun entree. Then the lamb shoulder was a lush, tender main. We finished with the dessert tasting plate. Pana cotta, sticky date, and chocolate brownie with all the fancy sauces to make it sing. It truly was a perfect experience and one I wish was closer to home. I’d love to return more frequently to explore the rest of the menu.

From the service, to the drinks, to the food… everything was made to perfection and tasted absolutely delicious! You HAVE to try the ciabatta with the 1918 Parmesan Infused Olive Oil… it is definitely something you’re going to want to take home with you - it’s a good thing they sell it!! You won’t be disappointed with anything here!

"I had an amazing dinner experience at 1918, especially enjoying the cozy ambiance in front of an open fireplace. The highlight was the brilliant tomahawk steak paired with a flavorful pumpkin salad. The oysters were an absolute delight and a must-try. The local wines and beers available perfectly complemented the meal, adding a touch of regional flair to the dining experience. I was also impressed by the attentive staff who made the evening even more enjoyable. I'm incredibly grateful for the recommendation that led me to this culinary gem. Without a doubt, I'll be eagerly looking forward to returning for another exceptional meal."

What a beautiful experience. Went here for Fathers Day dinner and we were all happy! In particular, the person who looked after us. I didn't catch their name but we had a good conversation about making tomato sauce with family! This staff member was a delight and made the whole experience lovely. Give them a raise!!

Shared a wonderful lunch with 2 others today for a friend's birthday. The food was sublime - interesting, tasty and plentiful. We sat near the fireplace, toasty and comfortable on a cold winter day, the restaurant was clean, inviting and interesting with lovely artworks on the walls to look at. However if I could, I would give 1918 10 stars for service - everytime I go there they make me feel so special and nothing is too hard. I'll go back, again and again. The food is worth is, the restaurant is lovely to visit and the service is beyond excellent.

Friendly and attentive staff. Delicious entree. The duck confit was a let down - overcook, but the flavours were there. Dessert yum! Regretted not opting for the steak which looked great. Well another reason to return.

Other than the best meal my partner and I have ever eaten, I'm not sure what else to say. Awesome service, we couldn't spoil how amazing the dinner was with desert, maybe next time. Quiet, still night and we chose to sit outside under the lights. We had to knock on the kitchen door to say thank you to the chef. If you don't go and try it after reading this, you are missing out!
