Not the best tamales as everyone is claiming. They are Tex Mex small tamales with minced meat filling. They come plain meaning you have to buy the red or green salsa. There no salsa insidr the tamales. If youre craving gas station or frozen heated up tamales, this is better than your grocery store tamales. If authentic tamales is what you want, then look elsewhere. The guy is nice and place looks clean.

As someone who remembers this operation from the 70s, I can safely say it’s one thing that has not changed and stayed just as delicious and consistent throughout the years. Whenever we travel to the Houston area, this is a MUST stop.

The tamales were not the best. We got two kinds, both types had little filling and one type (on the left) you can tell had been sitting out for a while due to the hard outside and lack of moisture. Both the spicy pork and jalapeño were bland. If you are looking for quality tamales i advise look elsewhere.

I came to this place back in 1976 when they first opened. I have come many times since. I love the business model! Simple truck parked alongside the road and selling tamales for almost 50 years! Tamales are good and it's a fun place to go. Thank you Mr. Tamale man! The dad has retired and now the sun runs the joint.

Update 09/02: I think I'm addicted now, lol! On today's visit, I told them about my missing salsa from yesterday's order, and they compensated me with some queso which from other reviewers claim is amazing. Thank you for understanding. Giving them another star for good customer service. If the taste, service, and price stays consistent, I will definitely give them five stars. Buy with confidence. 👌 Update 09/01: Returned for another round of tamales. Give them another try. Thinking maybe the last batch was dry and this time they're better. I was right. The batch I got this time wasn't dry. Moist, flavorful, and didn't crumble like my first order. The first visit was a good experience, so I figured I'll give them repeat business. On this trip, I ordered a dozen chicken tamales, chips, and salsa. I got the tamales and chips, but the salsa was not included in my bag. Only found out when I got home. I even gave a 20% tip for the service. Tip should be done after receiving your order not during payment for the order. I called to request a refund for the salsa I didn't receive. I was told they'll call me back. It's been 45 minutes still no call-back. Due to this I'm deducting a star. If you order from here, be sure to check your bag to ensure you got your full order before you leave. Update: I was not expecting a big bag of chips! Awesome! The tamales are sweet and savory, but a bit dry for my taste. They're rather small, but the quantity is sufficient. You have two options of buying a dozen hot for $9 or a dozen frozen for $8. There's spicy pork, mild pork, chicken, and bean tamales to choose from. You also get two options for salsa. Red is spicy, and green is extra spicy. Additionally, they serve guac and queso to go with your chips, but you have to pay extra for those. Overall, for one person I think a dozen would suffice to satiate your craving. The prices are reasonable and the taste is good, but I deducted one star due to the dryness. For myself I bought a dozen each of mild pork and chicken with a side of chips and green salsa. My total came out to be around $25 with a 20% tip. I enjoyed their tamales and would definitely consider going back for more. Original: I just placed an order. The guy serving was nice, and the price is just right. Those two things alone gives this place three stars, but it will be the whole package that'll make it 5 stars. Will update once I receive my order. For now here is a photo of the truck taken today. I normally do not get food from food trucks, but I have been craving tamales like a pregnant woman, lol

RIP OFF. They’re so small I could eat them in one bite. Definitely not worth $12. Also they taste like the frozen tamales from the store. NOT authentic tamales at all!

First time here! My coworker recommended this place awhile back and had to try it since hubby wanted some tamales for New Year. Tried the chicken and pork- $12/dozen. Owner was very friendly and efficient. He gave us free queso to try and it was pretty good! The red and green salsa were also delicious. Tamales had good meat and masa proportion. Will definitely be back again!

Got a recommendation from family to try this place and I have to say I'm very happy I did! The tamales were cooked and ready to go, still hot, fresh, and delicious too! The service was quick and friendly, and he helped me through my order. The line from the ordering window was a few people deep but the line moved down very quickly and I was in and out with my order in no time! And for how cheap they are for a half dozen the price cant be beat for the quality! I'm excited to go back and try different tamales soon, and recommend you do so as well!

We found this place on accident when our car broke down on the way to Galveston and had to make a detour to the auto body. Now we always have to stop on our way to Galveston. They are always friendly and the tamales are always good!

I have been coming here since the late 80’s and it’s always been very good. My experience the last two times hasn’t been good. I’m not sure what changed but I always get the pork ready to eat tamels and the last two times they have been very bland and very dry. So dry that as you unwrap them they crumble into pieces.

We have travelled the South and Midwest by car and truck, so we have eaten lots of different foods. The young man serving was efficient and gave us a brief history lesson on the origins of what has been a 43 year old and still family run and owned business. We purchased a dozen of each type of tamales and actually ate some of them right out of the trunk of the car. We were really impressed! Definitely worth the trip! Don't forget the cheese dip! We even purchased t-shirts.

I got 12 spicy pork tamales, guacamole and chips. It was…SO GOOD!! The Guacamole was creamy and had a very good flavor and the tamales were really good they weren’t as spicy as I thought they would be but that’s just because I like mine super super spicy. Anyways awesome place!

Just got tamales from there. Absolutely great service! Great tamales! Owner was super friendly and had a friendly conversation as he was putting together my order. Gave me a free bag of chips. We got home to try the tamales and all you can hear at the table is "Mmmm!" So delicious and they're good size tamales. Not small like everyone says. The green sauce actually has some heat! Most places serve mild but we like hot so it was a great change. Definitely will be a regular from now on.

Omg I'm so disappointed! We thought this place was a hidden gem - but how in the world?! These have to be store bought and frozen. They were disgusting. My husband and daughter couldn't eat theirs. I had two, one of each, then couldn't eat any more. They're all going in the trash. We got chicken and spicy pork. There is no way these are homemade, no way! We are both blown away by all the raving reviews. Either they're fake or the truck is selling different tamales on different days. There is no way that many people think these gas station tamales are the best in town. They're very tiny, have a small amount of minced frozen meat, taste like a frozen dinner and so dry you can hardly swallow it. I will give credit to the queso, it was really good.
