Amazing place! This was my first time eating sushi and I really enjoyed it. Great for date night.

The man up front, that I presume to be the owner, is so kind. He’s always working hard, and smiling. He’s just very friendly and accommodating, and has gone over the top to make us feel welcome, and I really appreciate that. We also love the food, so we frequent this spot!!

I previously posted a glowing review about my previous visit and i don't usually write bad reviews but I'm livid. I Placed a to-go order. The manager Bradley walked the food out to us and about a foot away he drops over $100 worth of sushi on the GROUND right in front of us!!! Then he had the NERVE to say "we're busy so it'll be another HALF HOUR wait for the rolls". Some of my family has sensitivities to the spicy mayo on one of the rolls and now spicy mayo, wasabi, unagi sauce, everything is mixed together in a jumbled mess. This is TERRIBLE service, especially from a manager! We will not be going back ANYTIME soon. I posted photos of the mess from this experience. This is disgusting and we can't eat ANY of it.

Some of the nicest staff I have ever met. I went for my birthday and had a little bit of a wait with some sushi and they comped it from the bill and gave me a gift card. 10/10 will be going back

We come every year for a family bday. This yr. We had a huge group. Our server, Haileigh, was amazing and very accomodating! You must visit when in town!!

Great sushi! Good bar selection including japanese beer, every dish we ordered was flavorful and fresh as can be, excellent service very attentive and helpful, Taylor did and amazing job getting us everything that we need it and order. Definitely coming back for more and maybe becoming a regular, Thanks!

Hands down the best sushi in Kalamazoo! We are fish people. We are raw fish people. And whether or not we have a special occasion to celebrate, going to Sakura is the special occasion worth celebrating! We love going for lunch during the week because of their amazing lunch specials! (Not available on Sundays) Our favorite it the Eel Avocado roll. The portion and price cannot be beat! And it's nice to start of with a cup of the miso soup, which is light, tasty, and the perfect temperature. We always get the Sushi Deluxe because we love their nigiri. 🍣 The Yellowtail, Escolar, and Salmon have been fan-effing-tastic every time! The service is always good. We always leave happy and satisfied. On our last visit we tried their special Green Goddess roll. I highly recommend it, especially to those who like a little spice, and maybe want to branch out from tempura and California rolls and start trying the raw stuff. It has a fantastic crunch from the jalapeño! Next time would get it without the spicy mayo. Not because of spice, it just distracted from the fish a little, which as you know, we love. Highly recommend and will be back again soon!

Sakura never disappoints. The food is so yummy & our waitress today was very but sensitively attentive. We want to bid a thank you to an anonymous couple in the restaurant 10/15/23 in mid-aft who gifted us with a random act of kindness. ❤️ It touched my & my husband’s hearts. Thank you. And thank you to Sakura for a wonderful meal long awaited & soooo very tasty. A great place.

Solid Japanese Steakhouse with all aspects worthy of 4 stars and if they chose to put in some extra effort they could rate 5 stars. Service was fine and was closest to 5 stars but besides the food you come to this style of restaurant for entertainment and atmosphere, well this is where 4 stars was generous. Cooks were mailing it in though not terrible but food was good but show not so much. The restaurant needs some refreshing as it felt like a dated Chinese restaurant and we all know what that looks like. Spend some dollars on refreshing your look and press your cooks to put on a better show.

The food was delicious, the service was good, the cook was awesome. The prices were reasonable. We had a group of 12 for a birthday for my 9 year old great grandson. We had such a good time. I highly recommend this restaurant.

Waitresses and chefs were friendly, food was amazing. One of the best Hibachi restaurants I've tried in the Kalamazoo/Portage area for dinner! Will definitely come back.

Love their special rolls they have been amazing everytime we have been in. Nicole was our server today and she was perfect. Super Attentive but also gave us space to enjoy date night. Every bit of the meal was perfection.

I'm allergic to shell fish and the restaurant accommodated my dietary restrictions. The service was top notch. It's worth the price for the experience. Not to mention the filet mignon melts in your mouth. A++

I have gone here for many years. The food is always good, the service is awesome, and did I mention the food is great? This past time I ordered take out and I was not disappointed. It was on time, hot, and the gentleman upfront was so nice.

Came in with a gift card and asked the hostess, who also turned out to be my server if I could use it at this location. I was told yes. So I had my meal, food was good, server was nice but then a manger came over (Arnold). He saw I was paying with a gift card and pulled in out of the payment book. He then told me that it could not be used at this location then tossed it back on the table. When I told him I had asked first he told me that the server was wrong and that she was new then walked off. I called several days later to speak the GM and apparently Arnold was the GM. He again repeated what he said before about why we couldn't use the gift card and passive aggressively stated " I'm sorry you perseved it that way". Then he followed it up with, "and I spoke to the server and she said you never asked beforehand." Which, was a bold faced lie. I was also told that even if I spoke to the owner he would tell me the same thing about the gift card. I'm just going to save myself future headaches and not come back to this location. At least the other location in Battle Creek is more professional about their mistakes and try to make things right.

We celebrated Christmas here, Alex was our waiter. Customer service here is outstanding, the manager even came up and said Merry Christmas and welcomed us. Oh and the food was amazing. I recommend the teriyaki steak, great flavors, and prices.

Well 3 Stars means I will try this place again. However I am giving them an extra star due to the fact that I ordered something that is not Sakura’s forte. I ordered an appetizer and side of fried rice. Neither were very good I am sorry to say. My appetizer was soft shell crab, see pics. For some reason this was flattened thinner than a McDonalds cheeseburger patty and deep fried with a lot of breading and little to no meat. Because this was overcooked the flavor was simply burned dough/ chips tasting. The fried rice was brown with a little bit of egg and almost nothing else. I know they know how to make good rice. This was not it. So what could have been a delicious combo of soft shell crab on fried rice was instead anything but good due to lack of flavor. With a beer the total was $27.50 before tip, which falls short of a good value for me.

Upon arrival with my date tonight I had a wonderful night having sake and having a roll called atomic bomb. I had a great time and the atmosphere was amazing the service was slightly slow but that's because there were a lot of people that night. The third picture was previous before tonight and I wanted to post that as well. Food was amazing I had a great time and the waitress was very polite and courteous. I will definitely be coming back again soon and I always try a new roll every time I pay a visit to the restaurant, the best sushi restaurant here in town! 🤗

Fresh, delicious food. I don't like sushi, but the AK-47 was a delicious shrimp spring roll. I ate it all myself, but it would be an ample appetizer for four people. The food is grilled at your table but skilled and entertaining chefs, and the food is hot, fresh and delicious. Fried rice and fresh grilled

great service with delicious hibachi and sushi! recently tried the bento box with teriyaki shrimp & it was delicious! the chefs in the hibachi area are always great & fun to watch & the waiters are always friendly :) love coming here.

I really like Japanese food and have been to several Japanese restaurants in different countries. Sakura sushi and sashimi remain in my favorite list. If you have a big appetite, like me, a meal can get expensive but the quality has never disappointed me.

The staff was extremely accommodative, prices were great, and food great. Unfortunately the floor was filthy (there was a bandaid under my chair next to a pile of rubbish), the Chef wore a mask and was difficult to understand and not very personable, the rice was overcooked, and the wait from sitting to the chef showing up was over 20 minutes.

The sushi rolls are fresh and good quality, very good. So many options, and good pricing. Friendly helpful staff, was seated quickly and food was prepared quickly as well. Will definitely be coming back often! Thank you

Food was great and the service was wonderful! Hillary was our server and she was so friendly and attentive. The food came out quick and was all really good. Nice price point and good portions.

I want to start off saying this place has friendly hosts greeting you upon arrival. The restaurant is clean and the sushi is so tasty! Like all restaurants, they are short staffed so anticipate wait times for beverages and such. That is not why 3 stars though. Hibachi is my FAVORITE valentine's dinner, so we tried Sakura 2 this year and wish I would not have. Half of the fun is the entertainment of the cooking by your personal chef. Mine was about as entertaining a pile of grass. He overcooked my steak, he did however have one made in the back to replace it, but arrived when I was ready 2 go. I also looked around, if all the chefs cooking, there was only 1 in the place having fun with his table. I will say that the stars given are for the fact the food is still delicious regardless of the lack of staff personality. This was an utter let down for my valentine's day. The original Sakura in Grandville was always a wonderful experience, not sure what happened here. Was this an off day? Perhaps, the food is definitely worth giving a second chance. ;)

This place is the greatest hibachi in Michigan. Every time I go to this location, the food never disappoints. The roll that I had was made perfectly. The stake I ordered was perfectly cooked. Please go here if you are celebrating something. Always a 5 star location⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

The food was amazing and service was great. They were very busy when we arrived, but we were seated quickly and served right away. In and out in under an hour which was perfect since we were headed to a movie.
