Historic place. Ahilyabai Holkar's work place . This place is famously know for maheshwari Sarees. Here there is a museum where they have displayed Ahilyavai's working space, and various things and much more.... But in this museum place... Photos are not allowed.... Everyone must come personally and visit this place.... This place has a big statue of Ahilyabai Holkar. Amazing place to click photo, there is her doly kept in the area, then there is a Toff kept in the area.... There is Narmada Ghat also in that you can have a boat ride..... Must visit

The fort is very Beautiful and the scenery of river Narmada is just a eye catching and so satisfying. 3 star because no proper Identification on road to indicate the way for fort and temple also need more cleanses and maintenance in the fort. Hope so MP tourism will do that.

Maheshwar Fort is known and visited for Devi AhilyaBai Holkar. It's very tough to explain much about this place but some hints are here for you. The architecture on the walls of fort is very nice. There are many Shivlings on the ghat as well as in the fort too because Devi Ahilya Bai holkar Ji was a big devotee of Bholenath. There you can also take experience of boating. It is built on the bank of the Narmada River and has ghat where many devotees visit to take bath in Narmada Ji. We should visit this place atleast once and get to know about the history and sacred deed of Devi ahilyabai holkar.

Maheshwar fort is surreal. It is really well preserved. The people around the area are also good. We took a guide’s service who charged us ₹350 for an hour long tour. Ahilyabai Holkar is a real inspiration.

An absolutely amazing place with so much of not so distant and pivotal history of central India. The elaborate architecture and beautiful carvings make it a unique place. Am absolute joy. If you have trouble walking, this place is not so friendly for you. Fair bit of up and down. However, all worth it, I believe. Having a guide allows you to deeply appreciate the history and the context. The temple, the high seat, the banyan tree (siddhvad), the statue of Ahalya Devi, all something to look forward to.

Very nice forte. Situated near Narmada river. Water in bank of river is still and calm. There you can view how manny weapons which are used in war. You can see how visionary holkar leaders are as they build huge wells for water in mammy village. There finance management facilities was also noticeable as described in various places in fort.

An ancient historic place, Maharani Ahilya Bai Holkar fort. The fort is located on the banks of River Narmada. The holistic view of the palace with its beautiful architecture is eye-catching. Also the serene place where the Maharani used to worship the god is worth visiting including the gold swing.

Perched on the scenic banks of the Narmada River, Ahilyadevi Fort in Maheshwar is a captivating blend of history and tranquility. Originally constructed by Queen Ahilyabai Holkar in the 18th century, the fort has been beautifully restored, offering visitors a glimpse into the architectural grandeur of that era. The fort's architecture boasts Maratha influence, featuring intricate carvings, spacious courtyards, and panoramic views of the river. The peaceful ambiance within the fort, coupled with well-maintained gardens, creates a serene retreat for those seeking a break from the hustle and bustle. The fort also houses the Ahilyabai Temple, dedicated to the revered queen, adding a religious touch to its cultural significance. The riverside location enhances the overall experience, making it an ideal spot for a leisurely stroll along the ghats. The attention to detail in the fort's restoration is commendable, preserving its historical charm while providing modern amenities for visitors. Whether you are interested in history, architecture, or simply seeking a peaceful retreat, Ahilyadevi Fort in Maheshwar stands as a testament to the rich heritage of the region.

I went to Maheshwar fort on an office trip. I believe it's a good place to hangout at with a group of people or friends or family. It's old and rustic , an architectural beauty. it was a little untidy but not too much. Just a word of advice whenever you visit Maheshwar fort, visit during winter because it gets really humid here and it gets harder to climb the stairs and wander the whole fort . Take a good amount of water with you if you go during the summers.

This place has so much historical and cultural importance when it comes to the history of Indore. It has been built by Ahilyabai Holkar. She is renowned for many great things she did for the empire over her tenure. The fort has immaculate architecture and great views ar sunsets. Must visit here in the golden hours. Serene views of the river and sunset. The monument also makes you think how was this structure built so beautiful and still standing.

Beautiful palace Ahilya Fort, in the central Indian town of Maheshwar, sits high above the sacred river Narmada. Maharani Ahilyabai Holkar ruled here from 1765 to 1796 and built Ahilya Wada, her personal residences, offices, and darbaar audience hall, within the fort. In the year 2000, Prince Richard Holkar, her descendant and son of the last Maharaja of Indore, converted his home in Ahilya Wada into a guest residence, today known around the world as the Ahilya Fort Hotel.
