Mandu, due to its strategic position and natural defences, was an important place with a rich and varied history. It was an important military outpost and its military past can be gauged by the circuit of the battlemented wall, which is nearly 37 km (23 mi) and is punctuated by 12 gateways. The wall encloses a large number of palaces, mosques, Jain temples of 14th century and other buildings. The oldest mosque dates from 1405; the finest is the Jama Masjid or great mosque, a notable example of Pashtun architecture. The marble-domed tomb of this ruler is also magnificent

Great architecture and nice landscaping with nice and beautiful gardens and lakes and water bodies. With advanced technologies like water pumping and water filtration and ample area this palace is beautiful and nice yet very soothing and calm place. One can spend around 2 to 3 hours and if you have ample time spending a full evening when the place is not too crowded. So a great place to relax and breath in fresh air and just relax and feel the grandeur of the past. So naturally a nice place not to be missed.

I think I've a nerve that's connected to historical places like this...old forts and palaces... hills and greens... everything that takes me to the old times...I like to visit. Beautiful place with a clean and green environment. Must visit places at least for the residents of Madhya Pradesh. We've such things to be proud of 😎

Second largest heritage site spread in 36 km radius. Famous for love story of Rani Rupamati and Baj Bahaddur. Water conservation and it's circulation in various parts of mahal are worth studying for present day engineers. Around 1800 ft above sea level also a hill station. You need at least a week to see and understand all the monuments.

Jahaj Mahal resembles a ship, hence the name. They also say that during heavy rain, when the water bodies around start overflowing the palace actually gets surrounded by water and looks like a ship. It's a fine piece if architecture and definitely deserves your time. It looked even more beautiful during the monsoon. Probably the best time to be in Mandu and see this beauty.

Jahaj Mahal is a beautiful palace located in Mandu, Madhya Pradesh, India. It is a popular tourist destination and is open to the public for viewing. The best time to visit Jahaj Mahal is during the off-season, which is from October to March. The weather is cooler and less humid during this time, and there are fewer tourists. If you are planning to visit Jahaj Mahal during the peak season, which is from April to September, be prepared for hot and humid weather. It is also important to visit early in the morning or late in the evening to avoid the crowds.

Jahaz Mahal in Mandu, Madhya Pradesh, India, is like a time machine. It's an old and beautiful building surrounded by calm and peaceful nature. It's a great place for people who love history and for those who like to explore. This building looks like a ship, and it was built with amazing skill a long time ago. If you enjoy taking pictures, this place is perfect for you. There are many interesting things to see inside. You can take a relaxed walk in the big open area and enjoy the beauty of the building. You can also explore the different rooms, outdoor spaces, and ponds. It's like stepping into the past. But some things could be better, like how they take care of the place and the signs that tell you about it. Even so, Jahaz Mahal is an important historical site that you should visit. Don't forget to take pictures and learn about Mandu's history.

Beautiful place with a great history. I think the best time to visit here is in Monsoon. Surrounded by lush green grass, plant, and trees. Cold wind and a charm of nature will make you happy and calm. Don't miss to watch Light show of 30 minutes revealing history of Jahaz Mahaz. Entry ticket is of Rs 25/- per person. Public Toilets are present nearby Mahal.

Sunrise - sunset. The 110-m-long and 15-m-broad double-storeyed building is located on a narrow strip of land between the Munj Talao and Kapur Talao, giving the appearance of a ship in water. probably built by Sultan Ghiyathuddin Khalji in the later part of the 15th century. It served as a large harem for the sultan and accommodated a staggering 15,000 women. Later it also served as the residence of Noor Jahan, the favourite queen of Mughal Emperor Jahangir. The southern end of the double - storied building has a stairs leading directly to the terrace. The northern end of the terrace contains a swimming pool of floral design there is a similar pool just below it on the first floor. The terrace has two domed pavilion on the southern and northern end of the long Jahaz Mahal. The northern pavilion is not at the very end of the terrace but just south of the swimming pool.

It’s architectural masterpiece. One should definitely visit this place to experience the craftsmanship. You can see different styles of architectural styles coexisted here at one place. It’s our heritage and we should respect it’s sanity by not spoiling and littering the same.

Well maintained and clean. Great view. Baby feeding room was too hot to use. You may put a nominal charge and give AC. Rest everything is fine.

I have visited many palaces in India. But this one is surreal. Police discriminate with car parking. They allow some cars farther and stop some cars at car parking a kilometer away. And tourists have to walk and lose their precious time and energy.

Very good place to visit. However, it is highly recommended to visit the baz Bahadur fort and Rani Roopmati pavilion in the vicinity. One full day is ideal to roam around different monuments in Mandu. Lot of eating options of local food around the fort. However MP tourism properties are most recommended.

We had been there in September 2018. It's must visit place or should be in one's bucket list while travelling to MP region. The best time to visit Mandu is the Monsoons when the Jahaz mahal looks like a ship. It's built as a rectangle and is supposed to resemble a ship. It's best to hire a guide to explain the history of this monument. Best place to click scenic beauty of nature.

I always love going to historical monuments , they are architecturally so sound far far better than todays engineering designs ! There are palaces in the premises with no foundation , loved to see them and to get to know about them ! Even in scortching heat the chambers of jahaz mahal were so cool , hats off to the people who built it !!! There were harem , jharokha , baodi , takhana ,royal palace and various gardens along with jahaz mahal !!! And at around 7.30 pm they have a light show going on where they talk about rich heritage of mandav which occurs till 9 pm !! Theres a small museum as well here where you get to know the inspiration to stone carvings , ancient hindu gods and goddess and some arabic write outs

Jahaz Mahal, located in Mandu, M.P., India, is a stunning architectural marvel from the medieval era. Its ship-like design and serene surroundings make it a picturesque destination for history enthusiasts and photographers. However, limited amenities and maintenance may affect the overall experience, so it's advisable to visit with reasonable expectations. Highly recommended.

Both side there is pound and it looks like a ship between the lake. Amazing historical place. Most of the parts are broken down now due to non maintenance. July to January is best time to visit.

An architectural wonder standing similar to a ship in the middle of two small lakes, however, the lakes are filled only during monsoon. The structure looks stunning and the views are great. A small ticket amount is levied to visit the place. A small museum is also situated inside the premises. The place is very clean and well maintained. Only difficult part is the walk to the monument from the parking area.

Jahaj Mahal got its name because it looks like a ship. They claim that the palace is actually surrounded by water and takes on the appearance of a ship during periods of severe rain when the nearby water bodies begin to overflow. It's a beautiful piece of architecture and demands your attention. Monsoon season made it appear much more lovely. The ideal time to view this gem in Mandu is between august and September.
