Not quite impressed with the fort as there is nothing much to see apart from sea view from hill top. Visiting this place in early morning would be highly recommend as there are no shelters around or inside the fort for a visit in noon. It's was hot and drains a lot of energy. One suggestion is that if you are welling to visit make sure you get down to the other side of the fort for a beach view which is worth your time.

Chapara Fort (whose claim to fame is the shooting of Dil Chahta Hai) is a nice fort wall facing the sea. The wide area between the walls has been left wild, with the local flora and fauna. It makes a good location for sunset, especially when sitting on the fort walls. The entrance has a few steps, but requires some walking on uneven surfaces once you enter. The complex closes by 5pm.

Chapora Fort is an absolute gem perched atop the scenic cliffs of North Goa, offering a mesmerizing experience that seamlessly blends history and panoramic views. From the moment you ascend the fort, you're treated to breathtaking vistas of the Arabian Sea and the surrounding landscapes. The walk up might be a bit steep, but the views from the summit are well worth the effort. The fort itself carries a rich historical legacy, having witnessed the passage of time and the ebb and flow of various cultures. Exploring the well-preserved ruins is like stepping back in time, with the sturdy walls and strategically placed cannons providing glimpses into its military significance. What makes Chapora Fort truly special is the sense of tranquility that envelopes you as you wander through its nooks and crannies. It's a perfect spot for those seeking a peaceful escape, away from the bustling beaches. The cool breeze, the rustling of the palm trees, and the historical echoes all contribute to an atmosphere of serenity. Sunset at Chapora Fort is nothing short of magical. The changing hues of the sky cast a warm glow over the landscape, creating a picture-perfect moment that's best enjoyed with friends or as a solo retreat. It's a photographer's paradise. Whether you're a history enthusiast, a nature lover, or someone in search of a quiet spot with a view, Chapora Fort has something to offer. It's a must-visit destination in Goa that encapsulates the essence of the state's cultural and natural beauty. Don't miss out on this historical and scenic treasure! 🏰🌅🌴

The fort is in the top of the mountain. Little walk to reach to the top of the fort. Kids enjoyed playing, they were playing with the rocks. Nice view of Vagator beach from the fort. If you come in the evening you will get a good sunset view for lots of pics and you can enjoy more. We went to a place that we can make our memories in the fort. Fort closes at 5 pm so make sure you reach before 5. There are small shops which sell coconuts , water bottles and other snacks. We ate Guava and drank coconut water while coming back. Fort is fully ruined only the outer wall is present.

In North Goa, Chapora Fort is a true beauty! The ascent is well worth it for the magnificent views of the Arabian Sea and the surrounding countryside that one gets from the summit of the fort. Google images led me to the conclusion that the sunset at Chapora Fort is quite breathtaking. Its a photographer's paradise.  I arrived here around lunchtime, so I was unable to witness the sunset.

Captivating Views. There is a little bit of walking to reach the top of the Chapora Fort from the prepaid parking spot. You will be encountering numerous stalls of handmade jewelry, crafted teacups, coffee mugs, keychains, etc. If you are skilled with bargaining then surely you will get some solid deals on these things. If you are stopping by here on sunny days then I would recommend you to carry an umbrella and some extra water bottles. On such days, the whole place becomes boiling hot. That might spoil your visit here. The best timing to visit Chapora Fort would be evening or early in the morning. On weekends, this place might be crowded in the evening. To relish the sunset views at Chapora Fort, you should be visiting on weekdays.

Nice, pleasant and calm place to visit with your friends and family. The place is very big, you can go and sit anywhere and enjoy the beautiful views. The fort entry closes at 5.30pm in the evening, and it takes around 20-25 minutes walking through steps to reach the fort in the top. So plan your visit accordingly. Carry some snacks or you can also buy from the many shops available alongside the steps to fort. Must visit place if you are nearby.

Nice place to visit, provides a top view of the ocean and the creek. Early morning and evening are best slots, though we had travelled in afternoon. Parking is chargeable. Small shops around the stairs sells lots of stuff, collectible as memento. I loved the one at the entrance, the guy selling spices and then the one at the bottom, selling leather bags.

A historical site will always be top rated for me simply for it being witness of the past and ancient history. The ruins of the barracks and buildings now remain only traces of the majestic fort that it would have once been. The view of the sea and river from the fort is breathtaking spectacular specially at sunset. Wish the ruins could speak and tell us tales of grandeur.

Chapora Fort in Goa offers a blend of history and stunning panoramic views. Perched on a hill, it's a trekker's delight with a relatively easy hike to the top. The fort's ruins whisper tales of Portuguese colonial rule, and the vantage point provides breathtaking vistas of the Arabian Sea and the nearby Vagator Beach. It's particularly magical during sunset. However, the fort itself lacks extensive historical information, so a local guide or some prior research can enhance the visit. While Chapora Fort may not be the most imposing fort in Goa, its charm lies in the scenic beauty and the tranquil ambiance, making it a worthy stop for travelers exploring the state's historical sites.

Chapora Fort is one of the oldest forts and it is a famous place in North Goa. The fort offers picturesque views. The fort is nestled between the Arabian sea and the Nerul river. The top of the fort is just beautiful with the views of the sea and the river. It is a short hike up the hill and it might be a bit difficult for senior citizens. It will take about 20-30 minutes to reach the top of the fort. There are many small shops that sell fruits and hydrating drinks for the tourists near the parking lot. The price of the products are definitely a bit hiked. The fort's cleanliness definitely needs some action. The top of the fort has so many plastic bottles and wrappers thrown around the place. It is saddening that a fort with such beautiful views is not being taken care of by the tourists and the administration. Overall the Chapora Fort is definitely a must visit place in North Goa.

I suggest a visit during weekends so that you could take a little dive into flea markets on Your way to the top. Mornings would be least crowded and perfect. Sunday works be eye feast but with a lot of crowd. When you are going up there will be a corner where you could see a way to reach the hill edge. Don’t miss the view from there as very few people go that way. There will be a coconut shop in that corner with chairs and stuff

Indeed fantastic view of the sea and Chapora river entering it. Very filthy inside, and overcrowded towards the sunset time. Not cold, and drinks available from vendors on the spot. You can hike down the fort to the beach. The air is fresh and place is quite romantic if you can find a good spot.

A very nice place with beautiful view points. One should climb some 100 steps to reach the fort. Entry is free here and it is generally good for sunset view. The place is extremely hot and visitors should take sufficient water, hat or umbrella. There are a number of shops on either side of the pathway and at the top. The cost is a little high compared to general price

Chapora Fort, a timeless sentinel of Goa's history, whispers its tales through ancient stones. Its construction, a marvel of antiquity, stands as a testament to architectural excellence. Tourists, drawn like moths to a flame, are entranced by its magnetic charm. The fort's history, rich and storied, weaves itself into the very fabric of the land. As you ascend, lush greenery cradles your journey, the emerald tendrils of nature's affection embracing you. The coastline, an exquisite work of art, extends its arms, inviting a tranquil communion with the azure waters. The horizon, where the sea meets the sky, conjures dreams of adventure and freedom. Yet, amidst this panorama, the shy peacocks dance their hidden ballet. Their plaintive cries pierce the air, teasing your senses, their vibrant plumes concealed, much like the mysteries of this ancient bastion. Chapora Fort, thus, becomes a paradox, a place where history and contemporary allure blend seamlessly. Visiting the fort, you feel the echoes of time reverberate through the air, and the whispers of the peacocks remind you of unseen beauty, evoking a profound sense of connection to both history and nature. This place, where the past meets the present, tugs at your heartstrings, leaving you with a tapestry of emotions that only the ancient land of Goa can offer.

Place is beautiful… view is good. From my side 3.5/5 to visit this place. View is beautiful during sunset. It was a good experience there. This I feel is an overrated place to visit. I liked it but not much. Hence would recommend if you have time you can visit here otherwise skipping it you won’t lose on anything.

Nice historic fort. You have climb by steps to reach and there is lot to look around inside. Govt (dept of archeology of India) has taken adequate measures for maintenance and security. Good place to spend time with family!

This fort is historical. It is situated on the coast of Arabian Sea. There is a beautiful view of the sea from here. From here there is a very attractive view of the sun setting in the evening. I love it.. ❤️😍👌

There is a fair bit of a climb to reach the top and when it's hot the climb feels like it's endless. However there are stalls along the way selling souvenirs and refreshments so if you take rest while climbing at these stalls, then its do-able. The views are awesome once you reach the top. Bare in mind that the rocks are uncomfortable to sit on for long. ( Take a blanket if you can to sit on).

This ancient laterite fort on the Chapora river, although long since abandoned from a military standpoint, is nevertheless majestic and an enduring historical monument. Known for its spectacular views and sunset vistas, this is a popular spot for tourists to visit especially in the evenings. Parking fee is 100 per car. Visit near vagator beach 🏝️ its a awesome beach. Vendor near fort are very polite must try mango carry and lemon soda.

Not maintained well but the view here is just awesome. Your trek will be totally worth when you get to witness such an awesome view from the top. But you have to be a little bit extra careful. F Don't take risk for taking pictures.

Its a good historical place but as its become more popular amongst the tourists, its becoming more and more crowded. Also few pathetic tourists make this place mess with garbage and stuff... There's a good flea market on the way to fort, you can shop for cloths, show ornaments and stuff there. If you want to visit this place, must visit at evening. Sunset looks so amazing from here.

Chapora Fort, perched atop a picturesque hill in North Goa, is a historic gem that seamlessly blends the charm of ancient architecture with breathtaking panoramic views. Dating back to the Portuguese era, this fort has stood the test of time, offering visitors a glimpse into Goa's rich past. The fort's sturdy red laterite walls and strategically placed bastions tell tales of bygone battles, while the surrounding landscape showcases the beauty of the Arabian Sea meeting lush greenery. Exploring the well-preserved ruins unveils a sense of nostalgia, transporting visitors to a different era. The highlight, undoubtedly, is the stunning vista from the fort's vantage points. Overlooking the Chapora River and the adjacent coastline, the panoramic scenery is nothing short of awe-inspiring, especially during the golden hues of sunset. While the fort itself may lack extensive informational signage, the sheer atmosphere and historical significance make it a must-visit for those seeking a blend of culture, history, and breathtaking natural beauty

Chapora Fort offers a captivating blend of history and breathtaking views. The ancient architecture and strategic location make it a must-visit in Goa. A perfect spot to soak in the sunset and delve into the region's rich heritage. Parking is available. You’ve to climb some steps to the Fort and see the panoramic view of the ocean.

When you talk about fort it's like a trek climb a lot. Chapora fort I was quite reluctant to go but when it was like a must visit place. We climbed and it was pretty easy as there were stairs. It's a breath taking view when you reach the top. The photos really speak a lot as the evenings were really best. If it's to summarise get there for sunsets or sunrise.

The fort is good and you get a very nice view of the sea and the beach from the top. You can see the photos that I have attached. There are some good locations from where you can capture photos. The problem is that it is overcrowded with vendors selling all sort of stuff in the fort area to the extent that they have encroached the stairs leading to the top of the fort.

  • 3/5 Theindianghost 2 years ago on Google
Well to be honest I only enjoyed The sunsets point because of the heat of sun and so much of stairs to climb on the top. The view of ocean from the top was splendid. It would be more pleasant if the weather was good. I prefer to bring a umbrella and a sunscreen.

The best place to be at to witness sunset in Goa and also get that Dil Chahta Hai vibes. The view is surreal with sky changing its colors during dusk from blue sky, white clouds to dusky shades of reddish orange clouds. The sinking of sun into the sea at the horizon gives scene view from the top of the fort. Be there at 5pm to witness the the magic of nature. P.S. at golden hour you get good pictures of yourself. Visiting hours: Before pandemic it used to close entry at 5pm. But now (Oct 2021) when I had visited the place there wasn't any entire restrictions. People were allowed even after 6.30pm.

Not much to see as a fort. The beach view is nice. They close it 5PM but they take people out by around 6PM. The sunset view is great you can sit outside near to that fort so you fully get the sun set view. Not recommended to go afternoon since no shady places available.

It’s not worth your time …. You can explore side market … place needs some attention of concerned authorities…. Place needs to be well maintained. The only good point is the View of vagator beach from the fort is awesome

  • 4/5 Chandrashekhar B. 2 years ago on Google
It’s place that is vibrant and one should not skip during Goa trip, here you will get authentic Goa vibes and the place is energetic. There is lot of hustle bustle and shopping spots and lot of crowd during the season comes here. The only thing I hate about this place is ear tearing music playing on shacks and they all playing so deafening and 10 songs mixed together, which will get you headache.

  • 5/5 Divyank J. 2 years ago on Google
The Fort is no more, only the wala are standing there. The main point of attraction is the sunset view. You can sit on the ground of the fort and enjoy the sunset view. The view of the sea is awesome.

A scenic fort that's in ruins and is polluted with plastic and bottles spread everywhere and a plethora of shops right till the entrance door. While the government should take care of the latter but the scenic view from the fort is breathtaking.

  • 4/5 touseef z. 2 years ago on Google
I guess it was better before when no shops were on the way to the fort from. Downhill. Have been here few times. In my recent visit I saw that shops were even at the top which is kind of off when you went up to see the mesmerizing view of sea. You can explore all its side specially the one they call it golmal view point. It's nice

  • 3/5 Sarvesh D. 2 years ago on Google
Nothing much to enjoy here.. only a few steps to climb before you reach the fort.. alongwith the steps are small stalls of antique pieces, decorative items, lemon juice, cucumber, etc., So climbing up doesn't seem too boring.. but this place has definitely lost its earlier charm.. we had come here in 2014 n then directly in 2021.. In between many changes have been made to this place...

This instantly was my fav. place in North Goa to enjoy sunsets. Hint - Cross the fort, move down the slope and you will have a great view, an amazing breeze with less crowd around.

This place is most popular for spectacular Sunset view. Paid parking is available here. You have to climb up near about 100 steps. The hawkers stalls all the way. Combo of beach, Greenery Mountain and river.

Went in monsoon season. Has parking at the base of the fort. The top is only a 5 min hike on the widely spaced steps. The place offers majestic views of the chapora beach and the sea. You can cross the fort and take a small hike on the spurs jutting into the sea.
