Hands down pretty good place to have some BBQ. It was my first time their. Everyone was nice. All around great staffing and atmosphere😃 I don’t live down here.

I was driving by and noticed this BBQ restaurant with great reviews so I decided to give it a try. Pulling up I noticed a lot of cars which was a good sign of things to come! Great prices, pretty quick and friendly service. Ordered a Burnt Ends and Beef brisket sandwich with a side of fried pickles. YUMMY!

Super friendly staff, easy process to order. Food was out under 10 minutes! And of course food was awesome! Will definitely return. Only complaint, move sauces behind counter....people come by, use them, touch them, and put them back.

This restaurant needs more than 5 stars. I stopped by for curbside pickup and am so happy I did. The brisket was tender and the burnt ends were delicious and seemed to melt in my mouth! The chips and dip were fabulous. I have found my favorite BBQ restaurant at last!! Can't wait to take my entire family here!!!

My recent visit to Smokey D's BBQ was an absolute delight. Despite its unassuming one-story building, the food and service were simply outstanding. The ample parking spaces available made it easy for me to park and enjoy the delicious BBQ. The service was incredibly fast, which was impressive given the busy atmosphere. The staff were friendly and attentive, making sure that our orders were accurate and that we had everything we needed. We ordered pulled pork, beef brisket and cheddar jalapeño sausage, and each dish was incredibly tasty. The meats were perfectly cooked and seasoned, and the cheddar jalapeño sausage had a nice kick to it. We particularly enjoyed the extra fiery sauce, which added an extra layer of heat and flavor to our meals. Although the $3 Bloody Mary we ordered was average, the food more than made up for it. Smokey D's BBQ is a must-visit for any BBQ lover. I highly recommend this place to anyone who appreciates good food, fast service, and a friendly atmosphere. I will definitely be back for more!

Good flavor but the meats were greasy and wings a bit dry. The mac n cheese was creamy and tater casserole a little odd seasoned but tasted ok. Both men's and women's restrooms clean. Super busy place with plenty of staff who worked every second. Limited parking and not for larger vehicles. Pictured is Brisket and chopped pork with Mac n cheese and potato casserole along with Ribs and wings appetizer. The Texas toast was really good.

Highly highly highly recommend this wonderful hidden gem of a BBQ house. When I hear people talk about smoked meats, BBQ house, or pitmaster meat markets, I always have to question their taste buds and wonder their sanity when I leave fully disappointed. Smokey D's on the other hand, is by far the best BBQ I have been to in a very long time. Tender, juicy, filling, perfect heat to sweet. Recommend Saucy D sandwich with X-fiery sauce for those not wanting the finger liking experience. I will be back for multiple testings. :)

This barbecue is second and on Des Moines. The environment here is what you expect from a barbecue place, lots of wood great smells and really friendly service. Right next to the Harley Davidson shop so you can go look at some cool bikes after you’re done eating your food.

Favorite BBQ in town. The BBQ nachos are amazing. I would highly recommend the pulled pork.

First thing you notice coming in - parking lot is packed, inside is packed. Next thing you notice is all the awards lining the walls for best BBQ around. After trying what they have to offer, I have to concur that it checks out. Meats were done perfectly, and the BBQ nachos are a unique and amazing oddity.

Just what you're looking for for classic BBQ! The staff is friendly and they keep the tables spotless between customers. I had the brisket and chopped pork, and it was great. I also loved the potato salad. Great job!

Amazing food!! I loved the pit ham, chopped pork, jalapeño corn, and mac and cheese. Not to mention the garlic bread and bbq sauces! I also love that Guy Fieri stopped here. I will definitely come back again.

Pretty amazing place. Ribs are fantastic! Had the brisket, over cooked in my opinion. Hubby had pulled chicken, kinda flavorless. BBQ eggrolls were good. Had beans & potato casserole for very good!

There was a line of about 30 people when we arrived around noon on a Saturday, but the line moved fairly quickly. The lunch platter ($12.95) includes one meat and two sides and a piece of garlic toast. I selected burnt ends, potato casserole, and jalapeño corn. Our food was delivered to our booth in about 5-10 minutes after ordering. The food is served in a rectangular plastic basket lined with wax paper, and the sides are served in Styrofoam cups . A metal fork is provided, and hot and mild bbq sauce and other condiments are available near the drink station. The meat portions seemed small (about 8 half-inch squares of meat for the burnt ends portion) but had a good taste. The sides were adequate but not exceptional. There seemed to be plenty of seating even on a busy weekend day, with both wooden booths and tables. Decor consists of framed bbq competition posters and old photos, and there is an impressive display of bbq contest trophies in a case near the restrooms.

I ordered delivery by door dash, great service. My order was breaded pork tenderloin sandwich with fries. WOW that tenderloin was HUGE, they package it to go in a 8" x 10" foil pan because it takes up the whole container. It was not flat, it was meaty and flavorful. Best I've had in years. I also ordered dinner platter with turkey, ham, potato casserole and cottage cheese. Full of flavor and juicy. Their Apple Dumpling are so delicious. I definitely will be ordering from here again.

I ordered a two meat platter which was Burnt Ends and pulled pork with Mac & Cheese and potato salad for my sides. The MEATS were delicious! The potato salad was way too bland not a lot of taste pretty much tasted like tasteless potatoes with watered down ranch dressing. The Mac & Cheese was okay it had a slight bitter after taste but was still good. The ice tea was also delicious. If I return it would just be for the meats.

Great BBQ place right off of I-80 which made it an easy stop as we were traveling through Iowa. Took a star off only bc our brisket was a bit dry but the ribs and burnt ends were fantastic! Those meats were very tender and seasoned well. Sides of potato casserole, baked beans and Texas toast were tasty too. Lots of items on the menu to choose from; if only I could've eaten more. My husband and I shared the two meat plate with burnt ends addition for about $27. This was plenty of food for us. We actually couldn't finish everything. Defintely worth the stop!

AMAZING!!! The service was quick and the food was "off the chain!". I had the 2 meat platter with burnt ends, jalapeño sausage, pasta salad and baked beans. Everything was so good, bit the pasta salad was so good. Next time I'll get two bowls of it. Lol! My husband HD pulled pork and jalapeño sausage, potato salad and baked beans. He liked everything as well.

I am from Waterloo and anytime we are near Des Moines we have to stop at Smokey D's. We have always raved about it. Well we stopped by yesterday and order take out ribs. A whole rack. I have never been so disappointed. They had no rib rub on them. NONE .....they tasted like plain meat. Never have i had a bad meal there. Until now. WHAT HAPPENED 🤔🤔
