Probably the best cocktails in town. Whenever we have a night out we will always visit the brain jar for some amazing cocktails. Also some great art work on the walls. IV not eaten here but the food looks really good.

One star is far too high!! Waiter was very rude to us when checking our IDs. Accused us of using someone else’s ID in front of several other members of public which was very humiliating (noting we are all 20 years old and above). Staff were extremely unhelpful when handling a severe nut allergy. The same waiter said the kitchen didn’t use any nuts at all when it they clearly do and it was stated clearly on the menu. This lack of knowledge is extremely dangerous. Each member of staff said different, a clear lack of communication about a very important matter. The food came and one pizza was burnt and had to be sent back. Left and realised our trousers were covered in tomato sauce, clearly from where we have sat in the chair and haven’t been cleaned properly between customers. Overall a terrible experience and will never be returning or recommending to anyone!!

Last Friday my husband's family and I came to the Brain Jar to celebrate after him and I got married that same day. We decided to go to the Brain Jar because it is our favorite bar in Hull. It was so much fun and the service was amazing. When we walked inside, everyone clapped for us and we had a nice comfortable seating area for our party of 6. It was a great night with tasty cocktails. Couldn't have asked for more. Thank you so much to everyone working there that night for everything! We had an amazing time.

Great experience here. We was here for just over 5 hours. We were originally only going to have one or two drinks.. Fab decor, funky music amazing range of tasty cocktails. And the pizza was delicious as well. Really nice welcoming staff and unlimited free water. I would highly recommend and come again

Popped into The Brain Jar on Sunday for lunch, having come across it whilst walking around the Old Town. We ordered the Wario pizza (gravy sauce, cheese and rosemary) along with the Wacky Garlic Bread and pear and walnut salad. The food was delicious, pizza base was chewy and crispy, very impressed! Everything tasted really fresh and the flavours for each dish were well put together. The staff were super friendly and helpful. The drinks menu was expansive and I wished I'd taken the bus into Hull rather than the car as there were a lot of delicious sounding cocktails on the menu. This place is a class act, they clearly care about their food, drink and customers. I'll be back!

Pizza Wednesdays are great! Much better than the chain Italian restaurants. Cocktails are super nice too (I had a virgin passion fruit mojito). I've been another nights out too and the staff are lovely. There's often live music in there and it's usually quite busy downstairs but plenty of room upstairs :) The cocktails hurt the wallet though :(

Had one of the best cocktails of my life here! The staff were so friendly and enthusiastic about their work, taking the time to talk us through the ideas behind the drinks. The pizza was excellent too, will definitely be going back and recommending to friends!

Great atmosphere and vibe. The decoration around the place is amazing and eye catching and the staff seem friendly enough. There wasn't much choice for vegetarians on the menu, and it's a shame the sweet potato fries are no longer on the menu as I have been told many good things. The wedges replacement were alright. The food was alright but bizarre to have a chicken sandwich which is a chicken wrapped in a pitta bread. The grease dripped through to make the bottom soggy. Was alright but wouldn't come again for food, maybe some drinks but...

Excellent food, great service and vibe! The last time we went in was a busy Saturday but staff still made time to look after us. They were also helpful when we needed somewhere to meet quickly before our concert.Thank you Brain Jar !

Been here before but a long time ago. Went on Sunday 4th June and had one of the nicest pizzas I've ever had (and I've had a fair few). The cocktails were amazing, friendly staff and the music was kinda 90s britpop and indie.

A Very quirky independent Bar in the lively Old Town. Specialising in cocktails and food. It's nice to see something a bit different. The staff were very pleasant and friendly. I only had a drink but the food did look and smell very nice. Really aimed at a young trendy crowd not for a crusty old real ale drinker. It also has some outside seating, although why anybody would pay a premium to sit in the street drinking is beyond me when you can sit in the shop doorway opposite with a cheap can of cider. Young people will love it.

We were in The Brain Jar mainly for the quiz but stayed there all afternoon. The quiz was great fun. The food is amazing. The main reason for going to The Brain Jar is the brilliant cocktail menu. Classic or modern, they are all there. The staff are awesome and the table service is superb. It's a great idea to have the option of water on the table all the time.

Love the place but prices nearly doubled for a cocktail since last time I was here before lockdown. I know things have gone up but seemed a bit steep. Shame as cocktails and staff are wonderful. Have to mention the fabulous best man who turned away a young women as she was clearly drunk. Well done, many would have taken her money.

I really enjoy the Brain Jar, it is a quite quirky bar, they have an amazing selection of cocktails and often have seasonal specials which are well worth a try! The food is also very tasty, they predominantly do pizza but also have a good selection of sides as well. The staff are always very friendly and helpful as well.

One of my favourite independent bars in the city. Staff are always friendly and seem genuinely happy when we’ve popped in. Rob even waves at me when I pass during the day, lovely gent. Beautiful cocktails, I’d recommend the jungle bird with one of the pizzas! Do not miss out on this gem of a venue.

Cool and quirky bar with lots of interesting and unique cocktails, very tasty food to go along with them!

My partner and I have only been once but found the service to be of a great quality. We have only been in for drinks but we were served very quickly - we was a bit spoilt for choice so struggled to decide but our server was incredibly patient and friendly in making drinks suggestions. The drinks are prepared to a wonderful standard and we would not hesitate to return. Thanks guys 🙂

Amazing drinks, especially love the zombie drink. The create your own pizza is awesome, especially for some of my friends who have milk allergies and the like. The staff were kind, friendly, and very helpful

Great experience really, lovely food and great service. Only things I would take a star off is that I would like beer on tap and more bottle variety. Also the menu could be slightly wider. If you don't like pizza you are screwed
