Amazing place to bird watch!! We went the day after the biggest week was over and was expecting the place to be packed, but it was actually quite nice with a lot of devoted birders there who were very helpful and identifying bird species if you weren't sure what they were. Can't wait to go back!.

Awesome short trail to Magee Marsh, situated on the southern shore of Lake Erie, is a prime stopover for North American warblers during spring migration. Every year thousands of birders, photographers, and nature lovers flock to this location in spring to witness the unforgetable spectacle of large songbird concentrations preparing to migrate across the great lake toward their breeding grounds in the north. Many birders make the trip annually. Some have been doing so for twenty five or thirty years. Magee Marsh is just one of those special places that you have to come back to year after year. beach.

The boardwalks are the best location in the Great lakes region for spring warbler viewing. The boardwalks are in good condition but can be crowded during peak times. The parking lot near the boardwalk can be slow and crowded

Brilliant birding, even though it was very crowded? Don't forget your camera as the wildlife is very obliging. Only a slight complaint, nowhere to get any refreshments, we had to travel to the Ottawa reserve for food and drink, although this area has many facilities and many birding opportunities.

It is very easy to find. The Marsh has a spectacular diversity of birds and birdwatchers in early May. On May 11, I've counted cars' license plates from 27 different states (including Alaska and California) in their parking lots + one from Ontario, Canada. On the boardwalk, besides the English language, I heard Spanish, German, and Pennsylvania Dutch (Amish people speak that). On that day, I made 13,953 steps (5.47 miles). In one day, I've found 68 different bird species, including 17 different warblers. This place is a must-see for any serious birder. It was very crowded in the morning on the boardwalks, but after 3 PM, there was much more free space there. I loved everything about Magee Marsh and will visit it again.

The hour or so I spent here before our trip home was just amazing!!! We saw a family of Swans, mother, father, and about 6 babies!!! Red winged black birds. Heron birds. This was also the first time I saw a real Marsh area!!! So much wildlife here! And a PERFECT place for bird watchers!!! There are Bald American Eagles here. There were warning signs to stay clear of their nests! I was in Awe of this beautiful part of Ohio. And, its in my state!!! This place is great for families with children and it had wheelchair parking to get on the beach to Spectacular views of Lake Erie. We will definitely be back. It was clean and not at all crowded.

Stop here to walk the bird trail & see the beach. The area to the beach was overgrown quite a bit, but there were some open walkways to get to the beach without walking through weed. The beach itself is not meant to be swam at. There was quite a bit of garbage & dead fish all over the beach. We ended up just walking the beach, collecting shells, and just enjoyed the peacefulness of the area. There was an eagle nest in the trees right in front of the parking area. Ran out of time to walk the trail but plan to come back & do that next time.

The new visitor center is really great. I would recommend checking it out if you enjoy learning about our native wildlife. There is also a nice beach to view the lake from and a fun drive back with lots of bird viewing.

Beautiful and peaceful little place. I didn't even walk the whole thing but from what I did it was incredible. Lots of wildlife turtles, egrets, swans and cranes. Carp in the waterlily retention pond. Tons of birds and varieties. Saw quite a few blue winged warblers, bald eagles and cardinals. Nice areas to fish, picnic, and just find a tree to hang under. The marsh has such a peaceful symphony to enjoy! Great way to spend a day or afternoon. And there are plenty more nature stops to enjoy in the area as to enjoy!

Fun walk any day of the year. Friendly staff. Bring your camera and enjoy the marsh along with a walk along the shore of Lake Erie. *Note: Magee Marsh boardwalk to be closed until Spring 2022 due to storm damage. ... Great new visitor's center! I especially loved the warbler pairs showing male and female. The boardwalks are accessible although they are not level and even in all places. It may be difficult for cane or walker users but wheelchairs and scooters have no problem.

Nice area. It wasnt that marshy when I was there in late fall, saw very little animal life othervthan small birds. But it is a nice area to walk around.

Love this place. Watched an active eagles nest in the parking lot. Three huge birds in the nest and the mom on a branch below. Awesome. Then sat on the beach...beautiful and quiet.

Seems like a nice little park, the boardwalk could've used some summer maintenance to trim back the overgrowth. Heard it's a great place during migration so I'll have to go back.

This is a wildlife reserve. Mostly for birds, if you like walking there are boarded walkways. You can see the lake, stand on the Sandy Beach type area beside the lake, but it is no longer a swimming beach. There are clean. Porta potties available. As of October 2022, the education center is closed for renovation. There is a wildlife ranger station.

We went to the holiday open house. Lovely atmosphere as usual, with music, food and friends. But it is the last time to ever enjoy the wonderful fireplace before the State rips it out to renovate the building. I will surely miss its cozy warmth and beauty.

This has a beautiful boardwalk going through the marsh, right next to Lake Erie. So many beautiful birds to look at, especially during migration season. Really spectacular! The visitor center is very nice. Right next door is also the Ottawa National Wildlife Refuge.
