If you love UNESCO sites, then this one is for you. It’s right off a main roadway and is a very large area. Most of the area is in a ruin state, minus some of the tombs and gladiator arena. There are very few signs detailing what each place is, but additional information can be found online. Be prepared to walk a lot on uneven ground. There are a lot of the ruins right off the road but all the tombs you’ll need to hike to see, which includes climbing up steep hills and over boulders, certainly not meant for people who may have challenges with such things. However, it’s worth the hike to see the tombs carved out of the rocks.

We visited in early March 2023. Lots of parking. Free with Museum Cards. Allow about 2 hours. Trainers are fine. The site is not the most visually stunning. But its history is both amazing and sobering (the phrase 'better to die on your feet than live on your knees' sums it up - go on, google it!). Remember that the ancient city is on both sides of the road (so many people miss the part that is on the same side as the car park).

One of my favorite site so far. It has a very nice vibe. I don't know, maybe because the necropolis looks like Shire of hobbits to me. Go there early in the morning or like evening because area is large and there is pretty much nothing to cover from direct sun. Do not be mistaken tho, on the left side there is a theater and on the right side there is necropolis and many other sites. You need to walk like 10 to 15 mins to reach necropolis. Definitely worth to see !

Incredible site. If you are fortunate, this man will come up to you and give an impromptu lecture on the site. It's fascinating. Don't be a jerk and not give him a tip.

Huge area where you can explore on your own. This site would be good to visit for people with disabilities, as you can see the amphitheatre from your car at the entrance. You can spend half a day here if you hike to all the different areas. Unbelievable to me the accessibility of the sites in Turkey - you can touch, climb and explore. Nearly no barriers or no-go areas. Unfortunately not well kept - over grown grass and rubbish everywhere. It's a pity - especially the for a World Heritage Site.

Lovely site! Don't just do the amphitheater and the surrounding ruins - if you cross the road there's a lovely walk you can do following the white stones, showing you some more tombs and a lovely aerial view of the amphitheater

A nice historical place with a fairly large area to walk around and explore landmarks. There's also a large parking and a shop with souvenirs and refreshments. The entrance ticket costs 70 TL. You can also use a museum card if you have one. Drones are prohibited, indicated by a sign. The staff is friendly and polite, always ready to help and explain if you have any questions. Be cautious when exploring the amphitheater ruins, as some stones are loose and there's a possibility of falling; warning signs inform about this.

Xanthos was the capital city of the Lycian, and part of the Persian Empire. It dated Fifth century BC, ant has a beautiful large amphytheater. We saw the colum written in Lycian language. we enjoy the impresive Lycian funerary monuments, the black and white mosaic. Fantastic view can be seen from the top of the ruins. Its open everyday.

The main attractions are the theatre and tombs. Well worth visiting, but I was expecting more from a World heritage site.

Very nice historical place. We just stopped here because I thought it looked nice and I couldn't even imagine how beautiful this is! I just would liked to get to know more about the buildings and have some roads because it's confusing sometimes. But I guess it's even better to let things untouched. Recommended to go there!

It is a great piece of history although some areas are overrun with tall grasses making it difficult to navigate. The history of the location is fascinating but you will need to do some research in advance since there are not a lot of signage indicating what you are looking at. Nevertheless, once you understand the significance of the area, have a your guide, or are someone who enjoys history, this is a good experience. We visited both sides of the site and even my 12 year daughter thought it was fun to play amongst the ruins before the heat set in.

Great history around this part of Turkey. This is a well worth visiting place to spend an hour. Authorities can do better and spend a bit of money around safety and roads. Otherwise recommend it

70TL per person to enter, which is well worth the money compared to Patara. Ticketing officer was rude in his manner. No card machine at ticket desk, but there is one at the shop. Shop sells fresh juices, frozen and bottles drinks, as well as a few pre-packaged food and snacks, and of course also stocks all the museum shop souvenirs etc. Definitely worth a visit if you're in the area.

It is an ancient city that must be seen near the ancient city of Patara. I think you should first visit Patara, then go to the ancient city of Letoon and stop by Xanthos from there. This ancient city has been added to the World Cultural Heritage List by UNESCO due to the importance of the historical artifacts found in the excavations.

The capital of the lycian league very nice very easy to walk i recomend to see the ancient theater First and then take an easy hike towards the the nekropol .on the way there is a Church from bizanthian period and the floors of the Church are full of artwork worth to see . Toilets are not always working, there is a fare space for parking and the cafe is expensive .some good books to buy if you are interested in the enterance enjoy your visit .

So empty in january that i already knew the other backpacker couple visiting the ruins, we met before in Kadıköy Istanbul. Entrance from the backside is not checked however ticket is as cheap as in other unpopular ruins of the region, museum card works.

Open access with very few restrictions apart from no drones. Good toilets and limited refreshments.

Parking & ticket office at 36.35705, 29.31916 UNESCO site along with Letoon since 1988. Organised, easy to navigate, unrestrictive place. Even the dogs at this site were friendly.

I'm sure the UNESCO affiliation helps to bring tourists here. İt's a small unspectacular sight. The most interesting thing is the well preserved Lycian frieze at the top of one of the tombs depicting harpies taking souls to the underworld.

This is a great site. You can actually touch all the buildings. It is not totally excavated yet but you can really feel the air of a place with a lot of meaning. It is extended so be prepared to walk for a while.

Absolutely fantastic experience. To walk where the ancients walked and feel the place. The ticket was only 20 TL for this exquisite experience.

A 3000 years of history. Must visit here as listed in UNESCO world heritage. Theater is remaining with a strong presence.

Unclear why its closed, not documented on turkish Government website and no one gave any reason. It's an open air unblocked site. Once we tried and failed to buy a ticket the locals were standing on the entry path when I took pics from the road despite making no effort to enter. Wry weird that the ticket booth was open and vendors selling items at a closed site....

I liked that place all lot due to hiking paths you can take. It really hives you correct historic vibe. You feel the atmosphere as you spend more time inside ruins. Its not a quick stop. It will take about 2 hours of you do everything there.
