Simple place selling rice and curry. Having eaten rice and curry all over Sri Lanka for 3 weeks, I have to say the food here is really good, especially if you like your food spicy. Prices here are low (150 rupees for a vegetarian rice and curry) and the portions generous. The service is great too - the staff brought us two glasses of water even though we only ordered one plate of rice. Last but not least, I like how clean the place is. We liked the place so much we left a tip when we paid for our meal. P.S. This place serves red rice too, if you're on a low glycemic index diet

Had a really good time at Thawalama. Love the authentic food and the flavors. Well trained and polite staff. Love the ambience too. That's definitely a must visit, if you are passing Maradankadawela.
