This lake is called the Nachchaduwa tank. It was built by King Mahasen. The reservoir is used to store water brought fromย Kala Wewaย through the Yoda Ela cannel. It supplies water to Nuwara Wewa through another cannel. There are seven islands around the Nachchaduwa tank. These days, the lake is overflowing. (2022.04.21) It is nice to see it. I attached some photos to this. There are so many pilgrims and visitors on poya days as well as weekends.

This is a total nature vibe. The tank's beauty is off the charts, surrounded by lush greenery that's like a scene straight out of a postcard. But fair warning, there ain't no washrooms around, so be ready for a wild adventure! The car park, though, is HUGE! You won't have any trouble finding a spot for your vehicle, even on busy days. Once you park, get ready to immerse yourself in the beauty of the tank and its surroundings.

Located just 15 km away from Anuradhapura town, Nachchaduwa Tank, also known as เถฑเทเถ เทŠเถ เทเถฏเท”เท€ เท€เทเท€ (เถธเท„เถฏเทเถปเถœเถฝเทŠเถฝเถš เท€เทเถดเท’), is a top choice for a safe and refreshing bath. This historic tank was one of the 16 great tanks built by King Mahasen (277-304 AD) during his reign. Restored in 1958 after flood damage, it offers a serene and beautiful environment for visitors. ๐Ÿž๏ธ๐ŸŒ… The tank's vast car parking area is convenient but requires a fee. However, it's worth noting that vehicle security is not properly managed, as there's only one person collecting money without looking after the parked vehicles. Monkeys roam freely in the area and may cause harm to unattended vehicles parked near trees. ๐Ÿš—๐Ÿ’ You should be cautious not to park near trees due to the abundance of mischievous monkeys who might cause damage. Safety measures are available, including life-saving assistance. For amenities, there are food outlets, swimming item shops, and free dressing areas, as well as paid toilet facilities. A small children's park adds to the recreational options. ๐Ÿ”๐Ÿ‘™๐Ÿšฝ๐ŸŽ  While entering the tank, watch out for small and larger rocks that could potentially cause foot injuries. The water is clean and not very deep, making it suitable for bathing. As responsible visitors, let's avoid polluting this area and help maintain its natural beauty. ๐ŸŒŠ๐Ÿšฎ For a pleasant and safe bathing experience, Nachchaduwa Tank comes recommended. Dive in and enjoy the serene surroundings! ๐ŸŠโ€โ™€๏ธ๐ŸŒณ If you found this review helpful, please consider marking it as such to encourage more elaborative reviews. ๐Ÿ™๐Ÿ˜Š

A friendly and safe place to take a bath in Anuradhapura. There is also a police checkpoint inside. There are also separate places to change even though they are not clean.

Best place in Anuradhapura to have a wonderful experience in a lake. Good vehicle parks, wash rooms, changing booths, and small shopping stalls are available. Security level is at a satisfactory level. For the families with kids also can have the experience since there are life saving staff at the dedicated place for bath.

It doesn't feel the same as when I visited this place 5 years ago. Eventhough many infrastructure is built here, there's plastic pollution everywhere. Only the natural beauty of the lake still exists.

Park is only for fun making. History and heritage is just out side. No one is there to guide you or educate you about tank and canal system. Irrigation department has fixed a stone board saying that tank was built by king sena the 2. But it is doubtful and all other sources say it wss built by king mugalan 2
