Great place to spend the holidays peacefully in a calm and quiet surrounding. Tents are clean and mostly equipped. Staff is very supportive and friendly. Food is great and tasty. Safari has been well organized and it was a great experience.

Amazing concept of glamping. Located inside a natural private forest. Full silent environment with natural habitats. Very spacious tents. Unforgettable experience.

great campsite. We got an upgrade on our booking and were able to spend the night in a really huge double tent. Unfortunately we only had one night. good dinner and breakfast in a small clearing - very charming . friendly staff.

There are quite a bit of mixed reviews for this place. For us, I think for the price, it is worth it, since they upgraded us to a bigger tent. The tent itself is quite luxurious, with different sections for the bedroom and a living room. It is decorated nicely, and the environment around it is pleasant, in a little forest. We ate breakfast and dinner here, and both meals were good. The dining area also gives a lovely safari dining experience (a much cheaper version to an African safari!). The staff were also very helpful and courteous. The location of the camp is near Wilpattu (5-10 minutes drive). There were some problems though, and you should be aware of it, before booking this place. As it is "camping style", of course, you do not get all the luxury in staying in a more permanent structure. The toilet is a bit "open", so there may be some privacy issues with the person you are sharing the tent with. There is no aircon, but fans are provided and it is good enough for me, as the climate was quite cool. It is also rather damp in the tent, because it is in a forest. I think the tent is well secured against insects, but if you are not used to them, and some do get into the tent, you may not like it. As I am from a tropical country, I have no problems with the insects. Also, because of these insects, the tent and dining area are dimly lit (not to attract them), so if your eyesight is poor in the dark (which happens as you grow older!), you may find it difficult to search for your things, etc. Bring a torchlight! Finally, my tent had no hot water when I first checked in, and the bathroom was leaking onto the carpets in the bedroom. I reported it to the staff and they acted upon it quickly, but I don't think the leak was solved, as by the end of my trip, the carpet was quite soaked through. In conclusion, I think Big Game Camp is a lovely place to stay! Quite an experience!

Camp may be a little too simplistic for some players, but it is a great introduction to the deck building genre that families and adults can really enjoy.

Very pretty place. Set up is somewhere between “static” camping and glamping, however definitely not luxurious. Each tent has a shower and toilet en suite, but small, cramped. Team running it try to be helpful, but sometimes fall short. The breakfast to take away was very good, but the dinner was distinctly average. No choice and cold. Bit of a shame it wasn’t Sri Lankan food also, but western (we had French Onion soup and BBQ chicken and pork, which was covered in BBQ sauce). Only drinks option was Coke, Sprite and water (bring your own as the litre in the room goes very quickly and takes a while to get refilled). Worth noting no alcohol served on site either- they offered us a single can of Lion beer to share as that was all they had!

We had such an amazing stay over here. The host and staff were very welcoming. There is not much to do in the area but there is no need! When you are not doing the safari they have tea time, midday walks (with a extremely experienced and passionate guide) and an evening walk with a lantern to see all the night life around the camp site. The price for the food is a bit higher then you would expect but when you eat at the amazing setting and bbq they organize you actually are not paying too much. We would recommend this to everyone! Thanks again for the experience. Kind regards Ida & Tony

Nice peaceful environment , Wonderful staff, you can enjoy with a different experience , Foods average , by considering place it is valuable for money you spend, you dont have worry arranging safari because they will arrange it for you with breakfast inside the Willpattu National Park.If you are luck you can see lots os sleeping birds during your night time walk within the camp site. Better to have mosquito repellent cream during dinner and night walk.Tents not luxury but ok.better to avoid rainy days..

We just checked out today after a 1 night stay with included 16pacs. Its a different experience and was awesome. If you check the tents well when checking in, keep the tent opening & bathroom zips closed at all times, the chances of creatures kreeping in is very slim. The food was tasty and of good standard. Staff is very helpful and appreciate the standard of toilet with the restrictions of not having a permanent structures. It is very hot from 10am to around 3pm but can spend outside under the common tent with a good breeze. We had a Safari and night walk but was unfortunate not to spot any Leopards. The kids (ages 9~10) enjoyed their stay and the burning off mashmellows at the Bonfire.

Nestled between trees resembling the Wilpattu jungle itself (though the camping site is located outside the National Park) it gives a fairly authentic camping experience. The tents are generally roomy, especially the lobby area. These are best for double occupancy even though three persons can manage. Facilities inside are adequate even though I would have loved to have a mini fridge and tea/coffee making facility. Safety locker comes in handy (though the locker in our room could not be made to function). A good night's sleep is not often possible owing to mosquitoes though. Despite the use of mosquito repellent vaporizer the creatures continue to trouble. Provision of mosquito nets should help guests sleep better. The food served in the open air restaurant are very delicious. Candle - lit dinner and bonfire 🔥 give character to the authentic camping setting. Star gazing at the edge of the lake was a very interesting and calming experience. Resident Naturalists are very helpful to spot, identify and photograph numerous birds that live in the thicket. Slender Loris may be spotted especially in the carpark area in the night. Water snakes, Frogs, Butterflies and Barking Deer are seen too. It is better to take a small torch with you even though the foot paths are lit and most people would be happy to use the flashlight feature of the smartphone. An LED headlight could also be a good idea. The staff is very friendly and helpful. I should specially mention how helpful they were when one of the tyres of our vehicle ran flat while being parked. We noticed it after two days of parking. The staff helped us to get it fixed by sending the wheel in a tri-shaw (tuk tuk) to the nearby town which is 20+ minutes away. If not for this help it would have been difficult to get things done on our own. The day trip that was arranged for us to the Wilpattu National Park was memorable as our driver was a knowledgeable Naturalist as well. Despite being very experienced Safari goers in different parts of the world we learned a few interesting and important things from the Naturalist. We were quite thrilled to see two Leopards, a Sloth Bear, numerous Spotted Deer, Barking Deer and several Bird species among many other animals, during the safari. Overall, our stay was a great camping and safari experience.

An amazing glamping experience it was! Each and every single thing about this property, from Cozy tents, delicious foods served in serene outdoors, to extremely welcoming, very polite and professional team of staff will make you feel very special during the stay. We were the only guests for the day, but the wonderful staff did not let us feel any less special, instead they even very generously offered us an upgrade! Not to forget the special support received from Mr.Sameera who guided us throughout an unforgettable safari at Wilpattu National Park.

My husband and myself stayed there for one night. We had the best experience ever - not only was the wildlife amazing, the staff also really provided everything we needed. We got a private tour by the manager of the area and he was very knowledgable and passionate about animals. The tent was very clean and perfect for a good night sleep. Very hopeful to return here one day - I wished we could have stayed longer.

An interesting experience with good service and food. Accomodation was OK except for the most important part, in my opinion, the bed. Very uncomfortable with thin mattress. Not a good night's sleep unfortunately.
