It is very beautiful place to visit. There are a lot of people like always. It was too busy when the train came after that it becomes notmal. There is a small snack shop to buy items. There are also transport facilities for those coming by train. For an example tuk tuk,vans etc.

There are 3 flatform. 191km from here to Jaffna and 205km for Colombo. This is the main station in Anuradhapura city. there is a canteen and small library that manage by railway managment.

Satisfied. The station is super clean and the staff is very helpful. All essential facilities like washrooms and canteens are clean and pleasant. Rooms are available with attached bathrooms at any time of the day. There are plenty of restaurants around the station to try any kind of meal.

One of the best railway station I have seen in sri lanka. Parking facilities are avilable infront of the railway station. Most of the basic requirements of a passenger are avilable canteen, washrooms etc. Better to book train tickets online prior to the journey. It will save your valuable time.

This is a really good railway station. In there we found a tuk tuk driver, called Lal He offered a tour arround the city and we had visited the temples. We payed a really good price for 3 hours tour and finished having lunch at his sister restaurant We had a delicious rice and curry for really good price. Ancient ruin city in Srilanka

Beautiful and Sri Lanka's oldest Railway station. Very unique and ancient. Can get your train easily. Rules and regulations are bit strict, so better if you can protect your ticket or warrant safely. Good parking space for droppings and pickings.

The building is beautiful and glorious. Reminds the English controlled era of sri lanka. It is really big and the painted in clear white paint. The ticket issuing will be start before 30minutes before the train arriving time. Entering to the platform without a ticket is prohibited. Booking seats of intercity trains can be done at any time when the station is open. Service of the railway staff is ok but not great. There is A/C and non A/C rooms available and those can be booked on arrival. The place is clean despite being a government kept place. There's also a waiting area outside the railway station. Has a nice cool breeze in mornings but in the afternoon this place gets really hot. Cannot stay inside without a fan. Main problem is the drinking water and the canteen. The tap water cannot drink directly also the filter water is very salty cannot drink. The bottler water in the canteen is low quality and cannot drink. The canteen is located right next to the gents toilet and it is very smelly and also not hygienic. Do not eat here or also do not buy water bottles since those are not proper ones.

Had an unusual situation today. Could not get a printout of the physical of the e-ticket as the station was having a blackout and they had run out of diesel in their generator - Unusually, the YalDevi train to colombo arrived on time. Station staff asked me to take the seat in my reservation and show the soft copy on the phone at the destination. Power came in just before the train left and someone in the station came running and delivered the printed ticket to me in the cabin. Clean and neat railway station. One of the main key railway stations in Sri Lanka. It's a bit weird that you can't go inside the station if there's no train in the next hour. (As an example, they release tickets & you can go inside the station from around 10 PM, If the train comes at 11 PM.)
