The best view ever! This is the biggest lake in Anuradhapura sacred city. In the morning when the sun rising the lake looks in orange mix gold color and there’s mist everywhere and you can also see the three pagodas(Mirisa Watiya Stupa, Ruwanweli Stupa and the Abhaygiri Stupa) from this lake. It’s a very beautiful scene. Swimming in the lake isn’t allowed.Operating drones also totally prohibited. If you’re a photographer this is the best place to capture many aquatic birds and other animals. You can also see the very big hawks catching big fish around this lake in the day time. It’s a really nice scene. There’s not much people around this area so you can peacefully observe the environment and also stay relax in this area.

Tissa Wewa, an artificial reservoir, was built by Devanampiya Tissa (3rd century BC) in order to increase the water supply to his capital city of Anuradhapura.[1] Only Panda Wewa (5th century BC) and Abhaya Wewa (5th-4th century BC) are older. The embankment of Tissa Wewa is 2 miles (3.2 km) long and 25 feet (7.6 m) high.

Just about 5 km from the city, we reached Tissa Wewa Tank aside from the Isurumuniya and enjoyed stunning views from the tank bund. The tank's breezy atmosphere offers picturesque vistas, such as some stupas. βœ…πŸ˜ Crocodiles and alligators are absent, making it safe to roam around. 🐊 Shaded by trees, it's perfect to spend leisurely hours at the tank bund during evenings and mornings.🌳 However, be cautious during sunny hot hours. 🌞🌑️ Photographers will find this place a delight! πŸ“Έ πŸ›οΈ Built in the 3rd century BC by King Devanampiya Tissa, Tissa Wewa is one of Sri Lanka's oldest reservoirs. It served to augment Anuradhapura's water supply and remains the largest tank in the sacred city. πŸ°πŸ’§ πŸ› Bathing is usually prohibited due to its significance in supplying drinking water to Anuradhapura. Also, operating drones is strictly forbidden to preserve the tranquility of the place. πŸš«πŸ•ŠοΈ πŸ‘£β€οΈ Cherish the experience, "leave only footprints," preserving the sanctity of this remarkable place. πŸ™πŸŒΏ If you found this review helpful, please consider marking it as such to encourage more elaborative reviews. πŸ™πŸ˜Š

You can take a walk around the lake and view a beautiful sunset in the evening. Four stupas can be seen from this view point.

It is situated just about 5 km from the city the view is pretty nice during the evenings. Bathing is not allowed usually so does the fishing. It's a lovely place to enjoy some quality time during drought seasons you can see some old structures in middle of the tank. No crocodiles or alligators are in the tank so it is safe to hang around and if you are going for swim (not allowed though) please be careful as there are so many incidence of getting drowned.

The "Thisa Wewa" reservoir is located in front of the Ruwanwelisaya stupa in Anuradhapura, Sri Lanka. It was built in the 3rd century BC by King Devanampiya Tissa and is one of the oldest reservoirs in the country. The reservoir covers an area of 119 acres and has a capacity of 1.6 million cubic meters of water. It served as a vital source of irrigation water for the surrounding agricultural lands in ancient times.

Thissa Wawa at Anuradhapura Srilanka, is a gigantic irrigation project built by late king, 'Dewanampiyatissa' and is situated closer to the old road from Anuradhapura - Puttalm. The Tissa tank or 'Thissa wawa' was built around 300 B.C. The dam around this tank is about 25 feets high and is about 2 Kms in length. The entire tank's water surface covers at about 400 acres. The amazing (Bisokotuwa) irrigation engineering technology used at Tissa wawa to control the speed and direction of incoming water flow is working 100% perfect uptodate and a 'must seen' if you are paying a visit here.

It is a lake built by king Dewanampiyathissa in the ancient capital of Sri Lanka, Anuradhapura. Calm and quiet place to spend the mornings and the evenings. You can get a nice view of the stupas from here. You can also reach here from the Ranmasu uyana. According to what I heard and read, this is about 2miles long and the depth is about 7.5-8 meters.

Giant lake. Amazing. Ruwanweli and Mirisawetoya chethiyas are visible to the bunt. Long live Tissa wewa. Visitors just admire the scenery and take back evrything you bring.
